Under the Skin - surprised at the nudity in this -
Spoiler: (Highlight this box to see the hidden message.)
Scarlett Johansson showing a lot and some guys sporting some hard ons - this is R-rated?
outside of the nudity the story is rivetting - best sci-fi film of 2014 so far.

I saw Wolf of Wall street a couple days ago. Very good movie. And I also saw Silver Linings...OMG! Amazeballs!! And American Hustle was good too. Yes, I saw all those movies within the last couple of days.

Captain America: The First Avenger - Still think the movie is a little disjointed, but I enjoyed it way more than when I saw it the first time.

Mirk and silence are undercut by the terrors of a young woman escaping from a cult. Well-written, cool palette. The director's $500 short precursor, Mary Last Seen made a bookend to it.

Also, I'm a sucker for the idiotic franchise, so, Final Destination 5.
I was very impressed with Elizabeth Olsen's performance.

To be honest, I love the Final Destination films.

speaking of Final Destination 5, I was watching select scenes this afternoon, for some reason my bluray player wasn't allowing me to watch the supplements, but that gymnastic 'accident' is an ultra-nasty death - "oooouch"

Adrian Lyne's background directing erotic thrillers led him to understand the events of Lolita (1997) but not their significance. So it is that his film is somber and sleazy and totally lacking the parody that makes the novel brilliant.

The brief inclusion of Jeremy Irons' narrations of Nabakov's incredible prose aren't enough. Find his reading of the book instead, it is sublime. \/

I finally watched the incredible Blackfish (2013).

Apparently Seaworld had simply ignored the documentary hoping it would blow over, but have recently resorted to responding to the film on their website (and youtube/twitter). They haven't spent their PR budget well, I don't think. Personally, I hope Seaworld fails, and as soon as possible.

47 Ronin - I thought this was a lot of fun. It has its share of flaws: they overdo it a little with the CGI at times, the accents are a little shaky, and the story feels completely disconnected from contemporary life. But the movie is beautifully shot, the set and costume design is gorgeous, and it has some breathtaking action scenes. Keanu Reeves is perfectly cast, and although I'm not usually that into him, I thought he was very sexy here; Rinko Kikuchi steals every scene she's in, and after this and Pacific Rim, I really want to see more of her. Overall very enjoyable.

I just finished watching Wolverine on Netflix. I'm not Japanese but this film felt like it discovered a loving form a racism. Made it seem like everyone in modern-day Japan know how to use katana, wear kimono and are obsessed with honor. It's a good thing Hugh Jackman is fucking hot or I don't think I could've rubbed one out as successfully as I did.

I just finished watching that on Netflix and, I'm sorry to say, I didn't much care for it. I wish I did, but it rubbed me the wrong way.

What a pile of pants this train wreck was. Hated it. Still it proved my point, that the only reason Michael Douglas when every award under the sun was because he played a gay man. And Matt Damon may be a really good actor, but there was no way he could play a 20 year old realistically. On the upside, Rob Lowe's face looked like it belonged in American Horror Story.

How can Almodovar make so many films, and so many good ones?
    Because

    1. he hasn't sold his soul to the Devil (i.e. Hollywood)

    2. he's like Belamo (i.e. Spanish AND clever)
