I decided to rent Magic Mike from Netflix. Everyone was loving it and it's getting 80% over on Rotten Tomatoes.
I... didn't really like it -- ended up giving it a 2/5 over on Netflix when it asked me to rate it. I thought the acting was pretty laughable. Particularly by Alex Pettyfer and the girl who played his sister.
Matthew McConaughey was pretty good. Although he overdid it at times. And I didn't really like that his character used the word "fag".
Just got the 50th Anniversary James Bond boxset so I've been on a Bond marathon all day. Presently watching The World Is Not Enough. Previously: Moonraker.
Poklosie.
It's a very controversial film in Poland, because it tells a (loosely based on the story of a Jedwabne village) story of Poles killing their jewish neghbouts during ww2.
Silver Linings Playbook is the Best Movie of the Year so far for me! There was comedy and drama. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence both gave great performances. I've seen Lincoln, The Hobbit, etc. but I'm hoping to see Silver Linings Playbook get nominated and win Best Picture for the Academy Award.

I saw this film twice and I agree. I hope it's at least nominated. A win would be amazing. It's a superb film!
I fell in love with Bradley Cooper with this film. I never understood the hype around his looks before. I definitely felt really attracted to him in this role. I think I like him better with a shaved head and a beard.
District 9 - utterly EXCELLENT film. I cannot recommend it enough, Then again, it's impossible to expect anything else from Peter Jackson.
I agree with you, this movie left me so satisfied. I highly recommend it too. It is amazing what can be done with such a small budget when you have a good story, good acting and a great idea. Definitely buying the dvd.
We recently saw "Bad Teacher" with Cameron Diaz, that bitch is great! Don't expect an epic here, but it is well acted, funny and she looks fantastic, some of her outfits and shoes are awesome. And Justin Timberlake is in it too and he is such a cutie as a geek. If you have never seen "Very Bad Things" I highly recommend that one too, she is amazing in it, but the whole cast is fantastic.
life of pi
beautiful movie. during the first 20 or so minutes, they talk a lot about religion and god. so i was afraid the story would be hard for me to relate to as a hardcore atheist. but in the end, the whole religious aspect was wrapped up in a way that really did speak to me.
Entertaining as many of Phantasm 2's (1988) shiny parts are, they still don't make the movie as a whole better than average.
Polanski's Repulsion (1965) hasn't seemed to age well to the point that it seems inaccurate to even call it horror any more. It's a rather tedious etiology of psychic breakdown.
Margaret Rutherford is great fun as Miss Marple in Murder Most Foul (1964); if the plot matched the splendor of her character, the movie would be a smash.
Not as good as "Inglorious Bastards" but props to QT for making nearly 3 hr films that don't feel interminable. Di Caprio was robbed of an Oscar nom, IMHO.
If you're gonna lie about your age at least do it convincingly!
This last weekend we watched "Taken 2". It was not my choice, I thought the first one was good but I'm not much for sequels. Well to my amazement, it was freaking great, so much so that it kept me a the edge of my seat, at one point my partner even told me to relax a bit, but I could not. They set up the story quite well and quickly, the action began and it was great, Liam Neeson was great in it and sexy, was produced by Luc Beeson and the best part it was around 90 minutes. Go see it.
Private Romeo. I appreciate the attempt to adapt it to a different setting but I feel, if they were gonna go for a military theme... it would have worked better if set during an actual war.
Still, cute boys espousing Shakespeare is never really a bad thing.
For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been.'
