I'm an 80s baby, I grew up on films from the early 90s, I don't know why it was my first time watching this. It was GREAT! Richard Gere has multiple sex scenes that are pretty rough and intense.
well anyways the last film that i seen was wrath of the titans. it was ok, it was expecting worse, but it wasn't all that either. i really found myself missing the old cheesy clash of the titans film from back in the day.
Yeah, I prefer the original "Clash of the Titans" featuring the cool stop-motion effects of Ray Harryhausen.
The 3D conversion is excellent. It greatly enhances the feel for the size of the ship and the distance to the water for lowering the lifeboats, for example.
The water flooding the ship seems much more real on the screen.
It isn't 'over done' either.
The soundtrack must have been enhanced as well, because it definitely sounded better than when I saw it in 1997. Of course, theaters have better sound systems now too.
I've been debating whether to see this. Did you see it in Imax by any chance?
I already seen the 2D in the theater twice, so I was first hesitant to pay more money for another ride. But the reviews for this version have been very positive.
Just watched "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" (the American version) and was disappointed. If I hadn't read the book, I'm not sure I would have understood the plot.
Science is Fiction, a collection of 23 short films by Jean Painleve. His work was mostly natural historical documentaries endowed with a friendly anthropomorphism.
Here's one on Youtube, but obviously it's much better appreciated via a superior format.
Wrath of the Titans had great special effects. I'm a huge fan of any movie Liam Neeson is in. Saw The Grey and Unknown with him starring in them as well. Can't go wrong with him and he's not to hard on the eyes either.
So I did end up seeing Titanic 3D in Imax last night. Say what you will about his writing, but Cameron is an absolute artist in every sense with his craft (directing, producing, everything else). His eye for detail is only magnified in 3D. More so in this version, you feel how every scene is essential. Strange how the movie doesn't at all feel like it's 15 years old, it feels like it is still very new.

The snobs will say what they say. The man knows how to tell a story--end of. I get sucked in every single time. His films make a gazillion dollars for a reason.
I don't know about that. I though Titanic was effective story-telling but Avatar was technologically-impressive but a hopeless mess of a story.
Ya think?
I thought it was simple yet compelling. Allow me to illustrate.
*Spoiler Alert*
Describe it and I'd probably get distracted by the accumulation of lint in my navel. Read it on paper and I'm out before the end of the first paragraph. We know it's not Shakespeare, Pats.
But once I start watching... I gotta see it to the end (even after the umpteenth viewing).
Saw Cabin In The Woods tonight.... I was totally disappointed. Hemsworth has a shirtless scene for two seconds... there's a surprise cameo by one of my favorite actresses (I knew who it was as soon as I heard her voice)... but the movie was a mess. It was essentially a lost episode of Angel which should have stayed lost. It would have been cool as a one hour ep of Buffy or something, but when you go into the theatre expecting a horror movie and all you get is Wolfram and Hart: the Movie... Fuck man. That was sad.
Finally watched Dances with Ferngully Avatar for the first time (it was on TV). The visuals were spectacular, but the story and characterisation was dubious. I liked the directing overall, but there were a few inordinately HOLLYWOOD! moments that irked me (the final shot, for instance). I suppose I agree with the "good but overrated" crowd...

Oh yeah, because we all know Cameron intended this movie to be seen on TV like you saw it. And your joke about the story's unoriginality is just as unoriginal. We heard all those same jokes and accusations two years ago.
A mundane little old lady from Indiana who survived Auschwitz provokes the holocaust survivor community with her absolution. Forgiving Dr. Mengele (2006).
Ocean Heaven (2010) from China. A single father learns that he is dying of cancer and searches to find a suitable home environment for his 21 year-old autistic son.
Prayers for Bobby about a gay teen and his mother's Christian homophobia. Very affecting albeit Hollywood manipulative. It should be edgier, given the subject matter.
