I don't know where the legend came from but I think remember David Nelson saying on a documentary show once that Ricky lost his virginity at the age of 14.

Why they changed how they make pants is beyond me. I was a little too young to wear them in the sixties but in the seventies I wore them all the time and they were just as tight. I was amazed that in a more conservative time men got away with wearing pants so tight in TV and movies.
