Re: What do you think of Gaga?

LOVE her. And like others have mentioned there is just something about her, that makes her feel like she understands you and that you understand her. I don't know how to describe it. I've seen her 3 times in concert and all 3 have been the best concerts of my life. She is amazing live. I believe her to be talented, artistic, and intelligent. Feel free to disagree with me though.

I like some of her songs and she works her ass off at her concerts so I have respect for her. She's just so fucking weird! Plus, she does cocaine "occasionally" so that can't be great.

Just to clear that up, Gaga hasn't done cocaine since 2007. She does smoke weed regularly.

I haven't heard much Lady GaGa lately. I've been hearing a lot of Katy Perry and Rhianna blasting all over the radio, so I'll have to say the opposite :P

I like GaGa. She's a performer, she can sing fine and play piano. I just don't like some of her actions. I can care less about her fashion. I admit a few of the things she wears I like. It's just that some of the things she does I can't stand.

This is what got me into Lady Gaga.

    What a cutie!
The world never changes if you're forever "minding my own business".
The mindset that no one knows you're gay because you haven't told them,
is like the dog that thinks you don't see him stealing the steak because he avoids your glance.
Staying in the closet is like continuing to sit in the back of the bus.
It's accepting that it's wrong to be who you are.

    Gaga's amazing vocals

A compilation of videos of Gaga singing live

I would really appreciate that you take the time to watch the video if you don't like Gaga but please don't comment things like "another post about Gaga?". If you are tired of posts about Gaga just ignore them, there are a lot of us who do want them

    Enjoy

When Madonna took the whole shock approach to market her wares, it seemed a lowering of art to me. Lady Gaga seems for all the world as if she is a revival preacher, pounding the pulpit with the gospel of Madonna and Cher.

To be sure, she has the pipes, and she has done what she has to do to break away from the pack and distinguish herself.

I think we all hear in artists what our inner voice is trying to sing, so I would conjecture your voice is looking for a mouthpiece that goes overboard, that breaks away from the confines of convention and mediocrity. As such, I'm glad you have found that vicarious outlet.

My inner voice waxes more to the melancholy and the grandiose, so classical music and tragic arias are more my thing.

I agree with you and thank you for sharing your opinion in a respectful way. Gaga is a 100% about breaking the molds, and going overboard as you said and is understandable not everyone enjoys that kind of music or even attitude.

I think the slowest songs I've heard of Gaga are "Brown Eyes" and "Wish You Were Here"

Wow this is really a spectacular analysis of someone you're not a fan of in a way that not only remains respectful throughout, but also acknowledges talent where it is clearly present. If only more people could see things the way you do.

I am a legitimate fan of Gaga because she makes music that, on its surface, appears lighthearted and meaningless, but underneath the glitter and electricity reveals deeper lyrical meaning. On top of that, she's one of few major pop stars today that has true, raw, powerful vocal ability (Beyonce is the only other one I can think of off hand). Those unwilling to see that will miss out, but to each his own. Clearly what she does is not for everyone and that's understandable. Plus the chick is weird as hell which I find pretty awesome.

This is the only reason I am a fan of Lady GaGa. Her real, powerful, and amazing ability as a vocalist. She has been singing and playing the piano since she was a little girl and worked really hard to get where she is today. She struggled, lived in poverty, got dropped by a label. She writes every single one of her own songs. And, like she said in the video, she puts on a show with REAL instruments and NEVER lip-syncs!

I wish some people would look beneath the surface with her instead of judging what they see on the outside, because this woman actually deserves a lot of respect.

Here are some performances before she made it big:

Very, very, very well said. I don't think people actually realize that for many years, she was a legitimate starving artist who earned every ounce of what she's accomplished with nothing but pure talent and fierce passion for music, unlike so many other pop stars who really just got lucky. The right place at the right time is not Gaga's story. I think that is what truly makes her special, not all the outrageous costumes and over-the-top performances.

Thanks for all the great videos too!

I think 2011 will be a very successful year for Gaga! God bless her.

She is one hell of a performer. I've seen her live twice, and loved every second of it. If she was in the vicinity and I had a chance to see her again, I'd hop on that in a heartbeat.

Please please please watch this video of Gaga all the way through. Tell me she isn't channeling Christina A a bit at 5:36-5:46! Fuck, it gave me chills!

I love her, and I'll say it again. If you watch the video below, especially at the 5:36-5:46 mark and say she has no talent, then you're just a hater!

No, I'm pretty positive she said in her Rolling Stone interview a few months back that she still does cocaine occasionally. It was in the same interview when she said she keeps her creativity in her vagina.

But I might be remembering incorrectly of course.

Lady GaGa gave her little monsters the Christmas present she promised them on Twitter: an announcement regarding her next album, "Born This Way." The first single will be released on February 13, 2011 and the album will be released on May 23, 2011.

The Sweet Escape was released four years ago.

I do not like to bottom, or getting blow jobs......Lately not into gay sex. Rather masturbate... Both myself and my partner are attractive guys. Yet I have no interest in anything....PLus I am gay and sometimes think of women.....Thought I was past this faze 15 years ago. Yet I still like men..... but fine and happy with my hand as my best friend again ........ rather keep it that way.
Lately I am trying to work at my relationship, yet failing miserably.....WE never associate together....we go our seperate ways, I have more fun on vacations without him....yet I love him....for the most part. Oh and he would love sex, yet I just am so not into it. I want sleep...its a project to have sex..... Do you think working at my relationship for a year is selfish, when currently I am just not that into it.....?? Should I end it or is it the right thing to do, to try and work on it longer? So lost....(can not believe I went off about this from reading this topic)...YEt I enjoy masturbating to other guys, yet get a girl involved I like that too...maybe just greedy. Typical gemini!!!
So I can see others not liking something... To give a blow job I have to be in the mood.....Plus when I am drunk I make out with girls, also its maybe the only time I like sex with my partner (yet I never want to drink)....I have no clue anymore about anything and now at 36 its like WTF?.....My new years resolution is to find a clue ;0)
Also explain why I was in love with a girl for over 7 years (started talking to her and found I still have some repressed feelings, yet shes married with Kids now and I am happy for her, yet jealous now).....I thought I did not believe in being bi....thought had to pick one, yet I am so lost and therapy is a complete waste of time. Wish humans were not so complicated....yet I am thinking of leaving my partner and finding a women ( I communicate better and have attractions majorly)...yet lost. Just thinking of it all makes me crazy.....What is normal....And can you really leave the gay life...I dunno maybe find a bi girl (just sounds messy)..

A close girlfriend of mine and I talk about leaving our partners, having some kids and being happy....Sounds better than what I do now...

Also have a friends husband (rejected, young and hot), my best friend from college who I had a major crush on hit on me (he wanted to try blowjobs, I said noway and hes hot, told him it would ruin our friendship....well hes no longer speaking to me and that sucks, was a fishing buddy) and old ex after me...Lately straight men are after me left and right ( good looking guys)...I do not know my proble, well do not want to cheat... Are we all bisexual????Cause I have been just a make out slut with women?? My Christmas party, the drunken woman lover came out, yet I think I just flirt and I love it)HUH?

    So confused

Oh and about gaga, I just can't stand her, yet I do not hate the girl, shes like a teenager whose venting and seems sad and lost...like some songs, they get in your head...Yet shes old news, not original, shes young and trying to invent whats already been done...Her voice is nothing special..She out of control and should be at her age...The young girl thinks shes ages ahead of the game, when actually shes headed for a breakdown and I hope we all do not hit the young girl too hard like they did with Britney Spears. We love them then hate them and they are so young....Hope she has a strong family foundation...shes having fun, yet from what I read, shes another complicated lost sole...

=O) I didn't notice your other post in this thread. Actually this is one of the few times I've posted in Hot Topics. I rarely enter Hot Topics to be honest, so I'm not aware of the other threads in which this video was posted. Anyway...

For the record, I'm not trying to convert anyone into a "little monster" or anything silly like that. Most of them are Bieber-lovin' tweenagers that only like Gaga because she's "cool".
I'm a huge fan of artists like Lauryn Hill, Fiona Apple...y'know, artists with soul...and intelligence...with a genuine love for music!

I'm just simply suggesting that everyone get to know Gaga a little bit, and not judge her by the genre of music in which she's chosen to launch her music career, her crazy fashion choices, or because their favorite artist isn't selling or getting the amount of attention Gaga is these days. I know they'd be surprised (as I was, being a former Gaga-hater), just how gifted she is.

AFA her music going astray, in a way i think it's all part of a master plan. In interviews she's said that she wanted to record a "Fiona Apple-esque" album, but one of her producers convinced her to go the pop/dance route in order to have a better chance of quickly building a huge fan base. What better genre than Pop to do that? I think Gaga's plan (and you see evidence of it with songs like 'Speechless,' 'Brown Eyes,' and even 'Paper Gansta' on 'The Fame/Fame Monster) is to very slowly introduce her Pop music fans to her Jazz roots. She can't force it down their throats like a fat dick. I see her putting out double albums - one side Pop/Dance, the other disc more Piano driven. In my opinion that's a very smart approach.

I said all of that to say this. I have found that Gaga is very gifted all-around, and though I am a fan of Dance/Pop, I love equally Jazz, Rock etc. With Gaga I get a little 'Dance in the Dark' and 'Monster' to satisfy my Dance/Pop appetite, and I get songs like 'Electric Kiss', 'Brown Eyes', and 'Speechless' to satisfy my love of jazz/rock/whateveryouwannacallit. So to me, Gaga is the perfect artist, and i look forward to the future as a fan of hers... I guess i just want to invite everyone along for the ride! lol

    Happy New Year, everybody!!!

I think GaGa is absolutely fabulous.

Her image is so fun. I love the way she plays with her looks, creates crazy outfits. It's fun. She's inspired me to be a little more fun and daring in my outfit choices.

The best part is that she's actually TALENTED. Her acoustic covers are awesome! She makes fun dance music, but her ballads are great, too.

And she has a huge genuine love for her fans. A lot of people are inspired by her and she totally gets it. She gives back. She has causes she fights for.

It's a lot more than what other pop stars have done. She actually GOES there with her views.

She's not perfect, but she's definitely one of the greatest pop stars of all time. And the BEST of this generation. Better than Britney, Christina, Rihanna, Katy, etc etc.

^In terms of singing ability, she can't touch Christina Aguilera.

Gwen Stefani kicks the shit out of Lady Gaga!

I do admire her creativity. I generally like her music. But I never have been the type of gay person to automatically go gaga over Madonna, Cher, Britney, and now GaGa.

Christina is an amazing vocalist. But she's hasn't been a great POP STAR since 'Stripped'.

Gwen Stefani isn't putting out any more solo records. And her 2nd CD was garbage.

Fergie is more a Gwen rip-off than GaGa is.

No matter how much I try to hate Gaga, I just can't. Her music is catchy as hell and her shows are always highly entertaining.

I just hope 'Born This Way' will live up to her own hype. She did proclaim that 'BTW' will be the best album of the decade. I kinda hope she's right but is it bad that a small portion of me kinda wants her to flop just a little?

I really hope it is the best album of the decade, that would be great for gay rights and who doesn't want to listen to an awesome album?

You know...I think seeing gaga flop a little bit might be entertaining. She would probably ramp up her theatrics and costumes and shock surprises to stay relevant.

I honestly don't think much would happen if Gaga flops, And I think it's happened before. Like with Alejandro, it was her first single not to be #1 in the US but nothing really change. For Gaga to make a change we would need a big flop and I'm sure none of us wants that.

Besides, she's slowly growing as an artist which is just amazing . Go and watch some videos of The Fame and The Fame Ball, or hell, from her performances before Gaga. It's super entertaining noticing how she slowly changes

Guys, in case you didn't know: The song Gaga recorded with Elton John called "Hello Hello" will come out like the 4th of February, right before the first single of Born This Way. Your welcome

Now, to add to the hype for Born This Way some videos.

First of all, their voices are both beautiful but completely different from each other. Can't touch her? I think she comes pretty close and if you don't believe me watch electric kiss.

Also, a pop artist is not only singing it's show, dancing, singing, etc. And IMO the only person that comes close to Gaga in all these things is Madonna, Gaga sings better but Madonna dances better.

Christina has a great voice but make her do a choreography and sing at the same time and you will be surprised. Make Gaga do it and she'll kick ass.

In what aspects? I think they have a very similar voice and somehow style and attitude. And I ADORE Gwen but does she kick the shit out of Gaga? Never.

I definitely agree with you, for the most part. Vocally, Lady Gaga exhibits a great deal of versatility like Christina, but Christina has more range and power. Christina usually can't execute that much chereography without getting out of breath though. You're definitely spot on when you say that pop stars usually have to have more going for them, especially now-a-days, than just being able to stand behind a micraphone and sing.

She's amazing. But I'm not a little monster though. I'm just a casual fan.

She's the biggest attention whore ever, she makes Britney and Madonna look shy.

I like her music but her outfits and behavior can be a bit too outrageous for me.

    Like Ella Fitzgerald?
