Oh wow... an acoustic version of a song. How revolutionary.
Really did you want a cliche of a video of her in the club talking to her boyfriend or some shit? I didn't, I love the video.
Don't get me wrong, I love Britney. But, come on...
But, that said, I do respect your opinion. After all, we are allowed to think what we want.
EDIT: deleted reply.
He was talking about Gaga I think.
I'm convinced it's an inside joke that I know nothing about.
there are many reasons to like gaga. many have already been named. i would add that she is some kind of anti-paris-hilton (anti-britney, anti-fergie): a singer/songwriter with genuine talent and a strong voice pretending to be a shallow, vapid starlet.
but why is gaga the arguably biggest star of the moment, and not just another moderately successful diva? why did it not work that way with alison goldfrapp, roisin murphy or sophie elllis-bextor?
the thing is, no matter how much people tend to complain about how predictable pop-culture is: the public is fickle, and fame and success are, ultimately, unpredictable. no one can exactly say why some super-stars are super-stars, why some blockbusters are blockbusters. thats why some stars never quite have their breaktrough, despite their talent and record company backing (how long have kylie minogue or robbie williams been trying to break in the us?). thats why sometimes, a star comes seemingly out of nowhere and shoots straight to the top. thats why following all this is still so much fun!
i must not "get" her. the music is completely average pop and she looks like a retard. wearing a birdcage on your head doesn't make you "edgy" and "groundbreaking", it makes you look stupid. zero interest in anything she does.
I like Lady Gaga i just don't understand the reverance.. and it's not only gays.. it's straight people as well.
"much ado about nothing"
People always have to go against the grain in an attempt to look cool or above the fray. I like her because she's daring, different and can sing.
Thanks for the acoustic version I have changed my mind now, I assumed she was put together buy some creative stylists...how wrong was
But at the end of the day it was great to see two of my favorite girls singing together!
I personally love gaga because she is weird. Don't get me wrong, Britney will always have a place in my heart, but I feel like Lady Gaga is so strange/creative that she's kinda made her own genre.
Her music is good, and her remixes/acoustic performances are always great too. She puts on one hell of a show, her recent tour beat the hell out of any of britneys or even the spice girls for me personally.
I can definitely see why people would dislike or even hate her, but you gotta admit that shes got spunk.
I wouldn't say Beyonce took a back-seat.
Videophone had the first video... and Beyonce WAS driving the Pussywagon.
I hope to see a collaboration with Cyndi Lauper soon.
Also, Telephone was just hilarious. Loved every second of it.
She is polarizing ain't she?
I liked the video, but the concept in no way fit the song.
I'm all for Gagas OTT ideas but this time I got lost in it. I think a cliche yet simple video of Gaga and Beyonce in the club having a dance off and shit would have done the song justice.
Gaga and Beyonce both suck, and I would never subject myself to one of their albums willingly. They each have like one good song.
It's yet another example of the stupidity of society.
Gaga is a disgrace to music.
I'm still asking myself that question, Lucky.
I feel left out because she's generally not that interesting to me. I am not phased by her ridiculous 'LOOK AT ME ATTENTION SEEKING' outfits either. I have tried so hard to listen to her music and find the magic that some people are hearing, but at the end of the day I always go back to my favorites--who have music with more meat in them.
Because she sang "bad romance".
Most gays have bad romance.
NEVER LISTEN TO A ONE SIDED STORY AND JUDGE.
I dont get the craz either
I have no idea...I own her CD (bought it when the EP came out for a 2-in-1 thing). I thought the first one fucking sucked, to be honest. The Fame Monster was a lot better.
Because she is a staunch and unwavering LGBT supporter.
Not many artists (if any) at the top of their game would come out at that level of fame for LGBT's.
She has my respect.
She also has a great voice and her songs are killer.
I think someone had said it in an earlier post, but it all just boils down to having the right sound and look at the right time.
I honestly don't get why people are/were head over heels for Madonna or Britney. But they were promoted with the right stuff at a time when few were doing their acts. How many less successful "copycat" performers appeared after them? How many gays flocked to their concerts back in the 80s and 90s?
I went from thinking "wtf is a lady gaga" to loving 90% of the Fame Monster. Personally I think she's a little more talented, skilled, and intelligent than most of the other pop artists out right now. So I'm assuming people saw the same in Madonna.
She and Cher both had crazy attention seeking outfits and a different sound and were embraced by gays everywhere. I don't think its really fair to single out Gaga and exclude those people who were doing similar stuff at the same stage in their careers
Her sh!ts catchy as hell too
Also, let's not forget that she's been classified a hermaphrodite and a faggot. That's a very straight - homophobic thing to do.
As soon as I knew the video would be 10 minutes long, I knew it wouldn't be as good as Bad Romance, (which, by the way, is just flawless). The main problem with this video is that the first 2:40 minutes are so boring. After all the hype about this video, you are really gonna start singing the song in a public phone? How predictable!
But the rest after that is really good with all the colors, fashion and insanity. I love every part that involves sandwiches, they make me LOL.
Watched it the second time skipping all the intro in prison and I like the video much better now!
Bad Romance still beats it, though.
I think if GaGa does a simple video, many would complain that she's losing her touch.
The video just came out and people are trying to be messy. Who's this stranger bitch trying to get her buzz up?
I think she appeals to a lot of young girls who don't feel like they belong in the "in crowd". She takes her differences and her perceived inadequacies and instead of hiding them away she puts them right out there and celebrates them. In a way, lines like "I'm a freak bitch, baby" can give adolescent girls who feel like they are on the sidelines a lot of confidence
And she also appeals to a lot of gay men who *always* like strong women that make it on their own terms in spite of what anyone else might say...
Therefore, she kisses gay men's asses, because she would be nothing if it wasn't for them. . .and because she loves them, they love her, support her and party at her shows.
Why couldn't she just be her real self and never transformed into that convoluted persona?
Musically, Stefani Germanotta > Lady Gaga IMHO.
I love both Lady Gaga and Beyonce. One because they both are different from anyone in their field.
Also, the reason they stand above from the rest, (Reasons why Britney and Madonna were ground breaking), they can perform. People can't hate their music, their personality and their appearance, but they can not deny their ability to put on an incredible show.
Also, unlike Madonna and Britney, Gaga and Beyonce can actually sing.
I definitely like Lady Gaga she's talent, but I don't think her edgy outfits and antics match her very mainstream dance pop music. For that reason I can't call her a genius and revolutionary.
Why would I sacrafice myself for Gaga you ask?
Because she takes what I am feeling, and what I have always felt
And instead of saying "This boy means just so much to me!"
What is said is "He ate my heart"
It is all about the connection to the music
This is why she is famed, because of all the people saying "OMG Y DO U LIKE HER PLZ?"
Or "luz she is so WEIRD and STRANGE"
Some of us just listen to her music and move on.
We are forced to transform when our beloved is attacked.
Don't fuck with us
There are more disco sticks where that came from
Art is simple. You take something that everyone feels or does. Then you simply express it in a new way.
I don't buy into the hype or the videos. I love the lyrics she sings and she has a strong voice. Listen to Speechless or Bad Romance ignoring all the ra ra ra nonsense and her songs have a very serious undertone. I have to agree though, wearing a birdcage on your head does make you look stupid.
Oh and it's safe to say
If she does not win at least 4 VMA's for telephone and/or bad romance
MTV headquarters will be burned down.
Because she looks like Madonna and has a penis (hence the ultimate gay duo)?
NVM, now im angry.
When she meets the Queen like this, who do you think the Queen will be talking about in the limo on the way home?
She puts on an absolutely phenomenal live show I will say
I'm beautiful in my way - cause god makes no mistakes - I'm on the right track - baby I was born this way!
