There might be some outdated pictures but if there is any other information that needs to be added then I will do a chapter about that feature. I did do a little bit of updating but might of missed a few useful tips. But I will be able to edit the blog entries instead of editing the links on this thread. Hopefully this helps out any new JUB member out there.

I read the chapter on multi-quoting and it's very poorly written. Still can't figure it out.

Brannie spent a lot of time creating those help pages, and we thank him for doing so to help all of us. I first learned to multiquote from reading his page, so it's ironic that one had to explain it to you here...

If you look at each message, there is an icon which incorporates a quote mark and a + sign. Click on the icon in each message you which to multiquote, then click on the icon to the left called "Quote" , this should take you to a full editor screen where you can insert your words between the quotes themselves. Hope this helps.

Note that when you've clicked the multiquote icon, it changes from to (the + turns to a - sign). The icon with the - sign can be used to unselect the particular post before you hit the Quote button.

It's not that hard, just click the icons and press Quote or Post Reply I don't understand how it was written so poorly, maybe because I'm trying to make it easier for the user instead of posting 3 paragraphs trying to explain it. Did you need a YouTube video to show you how?

Yeah, I'm still not getting it. If I wanted to quote a section from Star's post and Gamer's, how do I do it? You can see my feeble attempt above didn't work.

If you only want to quote a small section from a long quote, you have to remove the unwanted text manually from the long quote, but you should leave the square bracketed quote tags in along with the username and post number in.

Yeah its a common mistake for people to delete out the QUOTE brackets at the end.

Yeah when it comes to file size it can be a bitch to match the right file size since they put it so low for Non-JUB Supporters.

yes don't use fresh photoshop images. Process them down to the low size.

I also found changing them from JPG to GIF it brings the file size down to a real low which makes it easier to upload without any problems. If you right click my avatar its at 100 x 120 with a file size of 8KB as compared to the JPG version which was 98KB.

Also if you can get an animated GIF down to width / height size and file size you can upload it. I guess being supporter has it's advantages.

In paint.net when you're saving pics, you can reduce the 'quality' of a pic. For example,



JUB can use .png, .gif or .jpg file formats, so saving in these different ones to find an acceptable level of quality and size will be something you'll have to experiment with first.

Happened last week when whatever went on change wise at JUB.
I can't post using latest firefox or IE9 anywhere but quick reply. Advanced reply gets a gray box, which was always the case with using quotes in IE9 but not a regular reply there.
I never had a problem with Firefox using quotes, advanced reply or anything.
Not now. Just a gray box in the subject line. Anything I type in that subject box will not post unless I use the quick reply first then go to advanced.

I think I might of seen the issue but let me check.

Ok so I am switched to a different editor mode and I have it to where it has all the coding and crap. I usually set it that way because it's easier to use.


But when I switched to I suppose the other one it gave me this gray box over the writing, is this what you're experiencing? I can see the quoted text but I can't type anything into the box and instead of white it's gray.



Does it do it for both editor modes or just advanced mode?

I have switched no settings. Firefox updated but it occurred last week when others noted some minor changes were being made at JUB and people were commenting on JUB looking different.

You probably might need to wait to get 1,000 posts in order for you to change it.

Once you get 1,000 posts you can go here and then customize it like everyone whose reached over 1,000 posts. It will be listed as Custom User Title:

IIRC, one of the perks of being a JUB supporter was the ability to customise you user title regardless of postcount. This may well be something that they will fix shortly - but in case it hasn't been noticed I'll mention it in our review thread in Mod Towers.
