does it sound gay to you tho? lol
WOW! This show is hilarious. Who couldn't use a good belly laugh or two! Last night's episode focused on Mitchell and Cameron and Mother's day. Cameron didn't like being stereotyped as the "mother" in their gay marriage. They were walking through a park together and a football came rolling up. Cameron wanted to prove he could throw a football like a man and really whipped it far. He hit an old guy on a bike (the guy tumbled off his bike) and then Cameron went running and screaming "like a a girl" with arms flailing and his partner yelled "hands" as in hands down. Wish I had the clip--funny stuff.
Anyone else like the show Modern Family?
"Masturbation, at least it's sex with someone I love!"
Loved last night's Mother's day episode (5-4-11) with Cameron running like a girl.....
"Masturbation, at least it's sex with someone I love!"
I follow the show on Facebook, absolutely LOVE Modern Family and recommend it all my friends.
It's the best written television comedy since Arrested Development.
I agree with all of the above. It is pure genius.![]()
I just started this watching this show a few months ago and it's probably one of the most hilarious shows I've seen. My favorite characters are Phil and Gloria.
I've laughed my ass off so many times, can't say which episode is best. But I loved the time Claire took Phil's prepared speech from him...
All the cast is spot on, perfect. Especially like Gloria.
I don't think I can pick a favourite character. They all have me in stitches.![]()
To me, the most surprising thing about this show is that the kid actors are not annoying. The entire ensemble is great.
Glad to see this thread.
LOVE the entire cast! Adults and kids. My favorite episode is when the 3 kids (2 teenage girls and a boy) decided to surprise their parents' anniversary by delivering breakfast into mom and dad's bedroom. It was a surprise all right! They walked in while the parents were having sex. The kids were shocked, traumatized, and dropped the breakfast tray on the floor...screaming and running out the door ASAP!
Horrified with the image of seeing parents having sex, one girl kept washing her eyes with water by the kitchen sink. Then she said with such distress and crying, "I can still them!!!"
The 9 year old boy nonchalantly said, "Whatever they were doing, looked like dad was winning." HILARIOUS!!!![]()
I like the show---but I always mute the theme song--it sounds like they're yelling at you during it. That part scares me.
Hands down the funniest show on TV. I love Cameron's narrow environmental window - very episode is filled w/ Cameron somehow being offended by the slightest thing, then 'comes around' at the end of the show. Priceless! Also, I love the contrast to Ed O'Niell's macho dad character. Even a macho straight man can accept his son's gay partner and not bat an eye over it.
I like that it's funny, but it has so much heart as well and genuineness to the characters and the situations. Jay, for instance, remembering his mum...
One of my favourite scenes has to be in the early episode, Mitchell and Claire talking about their figure skating... and then, doing the lift in the car park.
If you've not seen it, this is a very funny skit from the Emmys last year.

For all sad words of tongue and pen, the saddest are these, 'It might have been.'
Mitchell: He loves pink.
Cameron: No, pink loves me.
"I'm chanting even as we speak, sweetie!"
The weird thing is that Cameron's character is so stereotyped, but it's not offensive, but actually really funny. There was one episode in which Cameron was carrying a bouquet in the living room and for some reason, the flowers caught fire. As he's running and screaming through the room, Mitchell said something about how two things in the room were flaming.
It's a really funny show.
i laughed at the mom. when she said she wanted to punch her kids. i think this is the thoughts of a lot of parents.

I love Cameron and Eric Stonestreet is just wonderful.

Absolutely loved Luke's teaching methods re: Gloria learning to ride a bicycle.
New season premiered tonight! Both episodes were good, but there have been funnier ones.
They were still good though![]()
Rumor has it the families of the show's writers are prohibited from watching it!
Love the show. Lots of humour and heart. A great combination.

love this show, so funny and a great time.
funniest show on the telly hands down!
I LOLd at the hit and run episode. When Cam is running after the car! Priceless! I love him so much! And yeah Gloria is my fav. I share the same bday with Sofia Vergara so I feel special lol I'm so lame![]()
I cant believe this hasn’t been discussed before!
I have been watching Modern Family for some time now and I wanted your opinion on the Mitchell/Cameron relationship. The show has gotten a lot of criticism for not spicing the relationship between the gay couple. Whats your take on the relationship? Are they hot together? If they were in bed, who would be on top?
Watching it here in the UK and it's one of the funniest shows on TV right now!
Might be slightly behind the states but in the first series their relationship seemed really "normal" (hate to describe it like that, but you see where I'm coming from).
Gradually I think the writers have made more and more of an issue out of their sexuality, though, which is sad. Although I think its great to see them with Lily - not sure if there are any other shows with gay fathers?
Who would be on top? - I vote Mitchell.
I think Cam would be on top, haha. XD
I enjoy their scenes in the show. I haven't felt they have done any thing to upset the gay community, but I haven't seen all the episodes....
Are the eyes truly the windows to the soul?
I love the show, but I think it's bullshit they chicken out not showing intimacy between Cam and Mitchell in the same way they show it between the other two couples who are straight. They chickened out on Will and Grace as well. I suppose that while a lot of straights find gay men entertaining, and makes them feel open-minded, many still don't actually want to see them kiss.
Well, while I'd like them to include a bit more on that front, things have changed.
We have seen Cam and Mitchell in bed together. In the 1980s the Thirtysomething (on the same network) showed 2 men together in bed and got so many complaints they never re-ran that episode and didn't include it when the show went to syndication.
To be fair, this is a sitcom not "True Blood". I love them on the show, they have some of the best scenes in the series.
Honestly I can't stand Cam & Mitchell. I always end up fast forwarding through the parts with them in it. They're way too fem (especially Cam) for my enjoyment.
Wow really? I think they have the funniest parts.
Some gay men are fem, they exist they are apart of the world or society, let it be. I don't think it has the be the job of television to portray anything they don't want. Especially on a comedy where the straight husband is a little bit fem himself.
I always feel like Phil is one twist away from going gay personally.
True, but I don't especially like guys who are very fem. I don't have any friends that are especially fem, it's actually quite the opposite. Fem guys make me pretty uncomfortable, (I think it's the whole perception that if you're gay you're automatically considered a swishing girlie man with a limp wrist and wear lots of pink, just like Cam and Mitchell) in person or watching them on tv. So while I like the show, I mainly watch for Ed O'Neil and Sofia Vergara, the rest are superfluous.
Meh, that's your opinion. I hope one day you get over it. Some fem men are truly great guys and have been there done that while living through the gay experience.
Personally I think they have the most boring parts. I think Cam and Mitchell, Phil and his family (their names escape me) are the best parts.
I can appreciate Cam and Mitchell seperately, but together, most of their scenes annoy the hell outta me!!!
One of the best series right now on tv Modern Family
one of my favorite character Gloria
And Cam:
