As only 40% of American actually voted, and the almost 50/50 result suggests that approx. 20% of the population made a clear statement about supporting the POTUS and his party. Like wise, only 20% give or take supported the opposition. All the 60% who didn't vote either decided they couldn't be bothered to vote, couldn't, or too young.

Either way, your statement leaves me doubting it's veracity.

Wow -- I didn't know the election was about the NRA.

54% of all Americans agree with LaPierre that teachers and/or guards at schools should be armed. 65% of those with school-age children do.

No, that's a particularly American idea.

I thought it originated in British common law. How about attempted rape and murder which are also things a criminal may break into a house to do? How are to know that someone breaking into your house is simply there for robbery and that your life is in no way threatened?

^ People in most countries are not that paranoid.

They tend not to assume that strangers are there to rape and murder them.

Only in America do we appreciate that most people are schizophrenic psychopaths.

^ You're allowed to defend yourself from harm in any country on earth.

That's self-defense. Not the castle doctrine.

But how fortunate that every American home has lots of semi-automatic weapons, loaded and ready for the day that the schizophrenic psychopath comes. It makes it so much safer for the kids.

    Rex,
None of my weapons are loaded and ready 24/7. Those not in use are secured with external locks and the bullets
are kept separately. No weapon is loaded and ready when no one is home. The one I carry is ready to go...but,
if it is needed, it needs to be.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As to the people who want to disarm the law abiding citizen...
ask your Police Chief, Sheriff or other Real Law Enforcement professionals, not the Admin's Feebs or our
Government Official trough feeding politicos like the House and Senate. Ask the ground swell of Australians
how they feel having been STRIPPED of their citizen ownership of weaponry. While you ask them that, ask
them what they think of our stupid Government officials trying to create the same here. BTW, the OZ
rank and file have been struggling for years to regain what our Constitution guarantees.

    Oh...
and why is that blasphemy the USA calls 'Homeland Security' hoarding ammo and buying and hoarding more
all the time? They claim it is for training purposes for the 178,00+or- law enforcement agents required to do
annual training. HS is currently in possession of 5-6 times of what would meet that task and still acquiring
more. (This is gleaned from 3 sources but not factually guaranteed by me at this point)

I am truly interested in facts, in opinions (clearly identified as such) and a multi-member dialogue that does
NOT include name calling, aspersions or vitrol. Basically, a discussion not a mud and shit slinging argument
sometimes referred to herein as a debate.

    Sidebar comment...Curse you JayHawk for
telling (ordering?) me to come back to this forum...LOL?

This thread is for cartoons... not a debate about guns. And all those claims about the government hoarding ammo is just based on silliness. Oh and I highly doubt the validity of any poll saying 2/3rds of Americans agree with LaPierre. Nonsensical. Oh and lets be like Israel? Oh that's nice lets be a police state with armed guards everywhere.

Around 200 kids aged 11 or under are killed by guns each year in the US. 85% of those deaths occur in the child's home.

You missed the point, where were the whole of the population polled to arrive at your figures? If you're using data that's taken just through sampling, how reliable is it? Extrapolating a nationwide trend through a few thousand phone calls doesn't wash.

Statistics are like hood winking exercises. Opposing sides can take the same figures and spin them to suit their agenda.

I guess you'd respect Mussolini, Mao, Pol Pot, Idi Amin, and Stalin as world leaders too.

They are DICTATORS -- not leaders.

Do you understand what leadership means? I don't think you or Obama actually do.

Soorry I can't offer anyone a video or a cartoon strip to look at

But, Sometimes reading can be a good exercise for the brain.

And a Small Child Shall Lead Them

    Gun Control
Barack Obama at a recent rural elementary school assembly
in East Texas, asked the audience for total quiet.

Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands
once every few seconds, holding the audience in total silence.

Then he said into the microphone,
'Children, every time I clap my hands together,
a child in America dies from gun violence.'

Then, little Richard Earl, with a proud East Texas drawl,
    pierced the quiet and said:

    ''Well, dumbass,
    Stop clapping
