SWERVE'S Travel Thread -- A VIRTUAL Ride-along...

HI!!!

_X_ gave me a BRILLIANT idea yesterday to start a thread with YOUTUBE video's of my travels around the continental U.S....

So THIS is the THREAD!!!

As MANY of you know -- I own a TINY one truck trucking company -- and drive ALLOVER!!!

I will TRY and make the video's interesting -- but PROBABLY, more than possibly -- they will become QUITE BORING!!!

HOWEVER -- IF you enjoy them -- please leave a comment -- or a POST -- so I know SOMEONE is watching them...

THEY are FUN for ME to MAKE!!!

He'd stop by and introduce us to people that he meets, and something about them.

Some narration would be great, and if you're going to be taking pics while you're driving, use a dash mounted camera.

Both for safety, and so I don't have to take motion sickness pills.

TODAY -- I travelled through Idaho, Oregon and Washington...

This FIRST video is of a mountain in N. Central Oregon -- known as CABBAGE!!!

SORRY about all the bugs on the windshield -- but earlier in the morning I hit a storm of MOTHS!!!

I CLEANED my windshield while fueling in Hermiston, OR...

And shot this QUICK video of Yakima, WA...

This is a video of Snoqualmie Pass just east of Seattle, WA...

I apologize for it jumping around so much...

BUT...

Traffic was HEAVY -- and I had to concentrate on the DRIVING!!!

I think it would be awesome to get a webcam, and record an entire haul from start to finish. then do a time lapse playback!

ODDLY enough -- Nineofclubs mentioned seeing one of those "time lapsed" things from LA to VEGAS and thought it was AWESOME!!!

I seem to remember the Yakima area looking better than that. Many times though, places, like people, don't photograph well.

Of course, Snoqualmie Pass is always gorgeous.

I will WARN you that I look PRETTY ROUGH at the end of the "montage"...

I'm in DESPERATE need of a shave/shower -- and it is one of the FEW times I'm wearing glasses (since I normally wear contacts)...

After just completing a 1,320 mile trip last week from the UP to Colorado, it is nice to see somebody ELSE doing the driving!

(Ever done the US 83 run from Murdo, South Dakota to North Platte, Nebraska? I vote it the most BORING drive in the entire US!)

ALTHOUGH -- I've been through Murdo AND North Platte MANY MANY times...

I've NEVER driven that road...

I CAN ONLY IMAGINE how boring that drive would be -- I hope it NEVER happens

TODAY -- I drove a LOT of backroads across the TOP of Montana -- before dropping down and hitting I-94 just West of the North Dakota Border...

UNFORTUNATELY -- a lot of the roads were skinny -- so I had to concentrate on DRIVING rather than FILMING!!!

BUT...

Here is a SHORT clip of Eastern Montana -- and then several short clips of the Teddy Roosevelt National Park in Western North Dakota!!!

only place i have ever stayed in No. Dakota was Fargo and it was dreadful. mid august and it was hot and HUMID and bugs and flies everywhere. i lasted three days there and made an excuse to leave the people i was visiting. i drove over six hundred miles to get out of the Dakotas as fast as i could.

I looked it up -- and was SURPRISED to see that bicycles were NOT allowed in the park itself...

I wonder why???

EITHER way -- I would think that you'd need to be in EXTRAORDINARY shape with the terrain the way it is up there...

HOW many days does it NORMALLY take someone to go 96 rugged miles on a Mountain Bike???

I JUST finished delivering up here in the middle of nowhere in Northern Wisconsin...

My NEXT trip brings me to Portland, OR...

I'm not sure I'll be able to get a lot of video however, since it is going to be HEAVY and require MUCH MORE concentration than my last 2 trips did...

And I INTENTIONALLY did NOT video FARGO -- because I was TRYING to avoid stirring up those NEGATIVE memories for you...

THAT STRETCH of road is considered to be the MOST SCENIC stretch of HIGHWAY in the lower 48 states...

NOT JUST by me -- but by the EXPERTS on TV!!!

It was fun having you tag along on the Forest Grove round trip, and you got to see a sorta typical "day in the life of a bus operator" (or a few hours of the day, anyways).

The (alcohol-less, for me) happy hour was fun too. I only wish I could unwind like that everyday with you.

It'd be nice if the bus services here had an automatic voice machine that lets you know what stop you're at.. instead you gotta just know where you're going to! Thankfully the tube tells you where you, and what the next stop is in advance!

It was a VERY STRESSFUL day for me -- but I took a couple QUICK segments of video during the FEW times I had fairly bare pavement...
