I'm not a Mariah Carey fan, but I do root for her a little bit because not only is she a good singer, she's also a talented songwriter who continuously writes songs that are so good that it would make people (including myself) want to purchase them. Anyway, do any of you guys remember her song Heartbreaker several years ago? Well, in the music video of that particular song, it did show that she was throwing popcorn at someone in a movie theater. It didn’t seem mean though because the way it was set up, she was throwing popcorn at a villain who stole her boyfriend.

But recently, my coworker told me something that she heard from someone else, that Mariah Carey did something really mean and it was caught on MTV’s Making The Video of that song Heartbreaker. I don’t think it’s true though and I believe it to be a rumor because there’s no evidence of it on YouTube or whatever.

Anyway, rumor has it that when MTV showed the making of the music video of Heartbreaker several years ago, you could see on television, Mariah Carey sitting near the back of the movie theater with fellow celebrity Jerry O’Connell during break and she starts to throw a single piece of popcorn at this extra, a sweet and innocent young woman, who's sitting alone just a few rows in front of Mariah. Well, Mariah Carey just keeps throwing a single piece of popcorn after popcorn...after popcorn (you get the picture) at that young woman until she couldn’t take it anymore and as she was about to cry she got up from her seat and walked off, by herself. Mariah Carey realizing that MTV got it on camera, made a personal statement facing the camera saying that she later went to where that young woman was and apologized to her.

But obviously that whole incident was just a rumor, that it didn’t really happen because there’s no evidence of it on YouTube or whatever.

Hypothetically, if Mariah Carey did throw popcorn at someone else, it wouldn’t make me hate her, it would just make me not want to root for her at all and it would also make me think that even though she has 17 #1’s tying her with Elvis (a legend) and having two less #1’s than the Beatles (also legends), that being up there doesn’t make her a legend herself, that she’s solely up there because she must be a really good songwriter to garner so many #1’s, that’s all.

But I really wouldn’t think of her that way and I would still root for her because that mean incident is just a rumor, that it’s not true because there’s no evidence that the incident really did happen, like I said earlier. So if anyone out there mentions that incident, please don't believe it. Thank you.

I adore Mariah when it comes to singing,really talented,complete from natural voice to falsetto to whistle etc., but she's really mean, there is an incident were she says "How the brown monkey can sing?" into a local Filipina Singer (Regine Velasquez) who revived one of her songs and like by her Ex-hubby who is now with Thalia(Latina Singer/Soap Opera Actress). I dont knowwhat makes her say that the fact that she's not pure white(he's father is black who just passed away),n even if she's pure white she shouldnt said that.

A lot of her Filipino fans was disappointed with the attitude, i think thats just it, when youre makin it big, u forget who u are (well i guess most are*).

ComNavFdgPk, people just put things that they recorded like television shows and movies on YouTube, so how can it not be credible?

I visited my cousin earlier today and we were talking about music and so I mentioned the rumor about Mariah Carey sitting next to Jerry O'Connell and her throwing piece after piece of popcorn at an innocent extra and the extra not being able to take it anymore, getting up from her seat and leaving and afterwards Mariah facing the MTV camera and looking sincere stating that she went to where she was and apologized to her. My cousin said it's true except the part about the extra looking like she was about to cry before she got up and left...but then he said that he wouldn't have been surprised though if she had cried on her way out because what Mariah Carey did was mean.

That cousin of mine said that not only did he remember it, he also recorded it on VHS, but then erased it to make room for other recorded stuff.

There are different versions of what happened and no one's gonna believe anything negative until there's evidence. So if any of you out there recorded MTV's Making of the Video of Heartbreaker, could you please put it on YouTube or anything like that. Thank you.

I believe she woulddo something like that. She once went to my mothers job a restaraunt. Alot of famous people go there and she was one of them. They always ask the celebrity to take a photo and mariah carey said "If doesnt come out good you guys can't have it.." Like in a snooty way. This version of what happened is correct. I have it on VHS somewhere. The extra didn't speak English well and didn't understand that the popcorn was supposed to be thrown at her so obviously she thought it was thrown at her meanspiritedly. Mariah was quite concerned that the poor girl got offended. They got an intrepreter to explain to the extra what it was all about and she came back in and finished the video. That simple. And speaking of Mariah, I've always been a fan of hers. I don't think she sings as well now as she did early in her career but I love her ballads now. We Belong Together, Mine Again and One And Only are great songs with passionate lyrics. She could tone down the "diva-ish-ness" a bit and dress like a 37 year old and not a trampy 19 year old in my opinion. Don't know why so many talented female singers make it big and then turn trashy. She certainly doesn't need sex to validate her talent. JMHO

I'm a Mariah fan, big one in fact. First.. this happened back in '99. Even if this was yesterday, who cares?! Second.. I happen to find her sense of humour to be a lot like mine, based on the interviews I've seen with her... both conceited AND self-depricating at the same time. She's a phenomenal talent. An acquired taste to be sure, but I love the girl!

On a side note (after reading some of the other comments) am I the ONLY one who LIKES her ass?! Maybe I'm the only one who DOESN'T like the girls to have bodies like Nicole Ritchie, I don't know! Personally, I LOVE the fact that Mariah actually HAS an ass!! Something about the 'scarecrow' figure that doesn't exactly appeal to me, guys OR girls...
