I stumbled on this article last night on AIM, and after reading it I came away with much the same reaction as The_Reaper. My initial thought was "Could Jared Leto be the infamous Toothy Tile?", but upon a reread of the article I think not. Perhaps the most telling quote came just prior to his "revelation" when he states "It's funny how perception and reality are so often as far as day and night". I think that there has been a constant flow of speculation about his sexuality for some time now, and I believe this is his way of having some fun with it. He is, after all, primarily an actor.

You have to remember that the sole purpose of this article was to plug his band 30SecondsToMars and garner some interest there. Publicity can be very expensive, but a "titilating gem" will go far to insure that he will gain exposure in multiple media outlets. Leto is no fool, and is clearly "in control" of his words here. His controversial "self-outing" clearly takes this out of the realm of the "gossip" trade and puts him squarely in the driver's seat. For all we know in reality, he may have signed on to play a gay man in his next film, and I have a feeling that the only "coming out" he'll be doing will be on "the big screen".

I was also, thrilled to hear that Jared Leto came out...the problem is, he seemed to do so in a teasing, enigmatic and probally stoned out of his mind manner...

I thought it may be publicity, too,...everyone here in Hollywood needs some coverage...alot of pretty boys need street cred to be taken "seriously".Being gay won't help you in Rap or Pop(perhaps, see, Clay, Justin, Ricky, L L Cool J, on and on)

In the edgy "underground" world of music gay/ bi is almost a must...it takes more than ringing your eyes in kohl and doing heroin to seem worthy...

On a prosaic note, years ago, before Jared was sooo famous, I saw him at an electronics store at the Beverly Center/ Connection...he was with an older man, I took for his manager, and he had a full beard... he was very cute..when I caught his beautiful eye(s)...I got the look, the 1/2 smile of recognition...the maybe...

I know, I know, all my friends feel, that I think everyone is gay...but I know that look...anyway...that's probally all we'll hear of Jared's coming out....just a fun blip on the music scene...

there is a funny clip from some movie Jared did on youtube.

it shows Jared waking up with a guy in bed next to him. The look on the other guy's face suggests that they had sex. Jared looks high and confused and ends up smelling something funny on his fingers.

There is also an out take from this scene also on youtube titled "Bisquit" (I think). In this out take, Jared wakes up and rolls over onto the other guy, holds the guy and asks if the guy has any bisquit. Jared says: "I make a mean pancake" (or something to that effect). The other actor laughs of course.

I think Jared was joking about the gay comment.

I think the most intriguing thing about this is how little people are talking about it. I read that article on the aol welcome screen and I thought was omg there are gonna be like 100 threads on here. I mean there's are thread after thread about so and so is gay everyday. Something like this I expected a freakin explosion and it's like nothing. It's like people don't even care if people are gay they just want to pick at people. They only want to prove a guy's gay if he contends he's straight. Something like this no one even cares about. I find it quite intriguing.

E said that his manager people made a press release saying it was a joke and that he was having fun with it. But he said he was gay like, in 04 as well. Of course, he was "joking" that time too. Normally I don't like to do the who's gay guessing game with every celebrity I know, but enough is enough. He said he was gay twice, did some gay stuff in Alexander. Either set the record straight or shut the #@$% up Leto.

It's the Robbie Williams thing isn't it? Make jokes all the time do a video with a gay scene in or a movie and plays gay......then when people start insinuating things in the press managers jump quickly with the "It was a joke " or the law suits fly in. Jared hasn't complained about it......yet but Robbie went running to court as soon as the papers started questioning his sexulaity. I wonder if Jared will do the same if it starts making headlines?

As Tromkick says, either just admit it or shut the fuck up. You can't really have it both ways!

Honestly, if he's trying help he's not. Making continuous jokes about being gay makes it seem like one day you can, one day you can't... like weighing in wether or not to put on curlers for your hair in the morning. For what it's worth--here's my 2 cents.
Jared was once a customer of mine (in my retail days). I never once got any kind of Gay vibe from him, even tho the boy was sweet (and kinda shy) and could he flirt!! I did get gay vibes from other customers who have since come out (Ellen, Mitchell), so I really don't think Jared is gay. Simply wishful thinking on our part, I suppose.
Only time will tell. Truth will always reveal itself.

Clearly bored with doing knock knock jokes with journalists, he decided to have a giggle about his sexuality instead.

The Alexander star revealed to an American Online reporter that he was "gay as a goose" during a recent interview.

The fact that the actor has previously been engaged to Cameron Diaz and has been seen on the arms of Lindsay Lohan and Scarlett Johansson clearly made alarm bells ring for the poor journo.

But Jared only went on to compare himself to Morrissey - a rock singer known for his vagueness about his sexuality.
