SE / Atlanta JUB Meet - MARCH 8th, 2008

Date: 3/8/07 (Saturday)
Time: 7:00 PM – whenever
Events: Dinner, Bowling after dinner and possibly a club after midnight.
RSVP – Post to this thread. If you will be joining us for dinner, it’s very important that you RSVP.

Enjoy a night of fun with your JUB friends. Everyone 18+ is invited, no matter where you live. I hope all the guys from the Southeast are able to attend. We will begin the evening with dinner at one of the Midtown restaurants. From there we will go bowling at Midtown Bowl. If the group is interested, we can go to a club after midnight. If you can’t join us for the entire night, join us for what you can.

Privacy – As some people are not out, you don’t have to give your name unless you are comfortable doing so. You can just go by your JUB screen name. Please do not take any photos without the expressed consent of everyone that will be in the photo. Please respect the privacy concerns that many members have.

Dinner – The location of dinner will be highly dependent on the size of the group and your input. Give me suggestions! Suggested restaurants should be able to accommodate our group at one table, have a menu with a wide variety and have ample parking. The closer the location is to Midtown Bowl, the better. Anything in the Ansley Mall or Cheshire Bridge area would be great. Roxx is a possibility as it’s only a few blocks from the bowling alley. I have always sat outside there, so I don’t remember if they have space to accommodate a group inside. Does anyone know? A restaurant that takes reservations would be a plus.

Bowling – The bowling should be a lot fun. I haven’t bowled in years, so hopefully I don’t make a fool of myself. The alley doesn’t take reservations on Saturday nights, so we will probably have to wait a while to get some lanes. That’s OK, it will give us more time to talk. Club – We can make the decision of if and where when we get together. I did find that Chaparral is 18+. It’s not far from the bowling alley, has a big dance floor and draws a mixed crowd of gay and straight. The music is Reggaeton. There are also a variety of gay clubs in the area, but all are 21+.

RSVP – I need to know how many are interested! If interested, please post to this thread. Please indicate if you can definitely attend or the likelihood of your attendance. I need a count so that an appropriate restaurant can be selected.

Help get the word out about the meet. Place a link in your JUB signature (like mine below).

If you don't know how to add a link, here are instructions:
1. Highlight and copy (Ctrl C) the thread URL from the address bar. Hint: it starts with "http" and ends with "201412"
2. Select "Edit Signature" from the "Quick Links" drop down above.
3. Select the "Insert Link" button (looks like a globe with a chain link)
4. A pop up will appear asking for the URL. Delete everything already in the box, then past (Ctrl V) the thread URL that you copied in step 1. Be sure you don't have "http" twice. Select "OK".

For Clubs:
I hear the Chapperal recently changed ownership and no longer welcomes the gay community. There are plenty of others in the area. I find that people like to drink & social at Blakes, Burkharts, or Amsterdam then head to Wetbar or the Heretic to dance.

I'd love to be there, and I might be able to swing the time off from work, even though it's our busy season. I am DEFINITELY planning on attending. It's been a hectic night, I'm about to post a thread about it, so I'll parse the links when I have more leisure. Thanks for accommodating my date requests; early in the month works great with my budget. I'd like to keep the entire venture as close as possible to $100 including gas to and from Tally, so no shark-stuffed llamas for dinner, please.

Again, never been there. Maybe I should make a run there. I'm open to whatever. This is a throw back for me. For years I was part of a social BBS and we had parties and get-togethers regularly (no, not orgies). It was fun! We had a regular Friday night at 10pm meetup at Burkhart's. It was nice to know that no matter what you could go there and have a drink with someone you knew.

4. Must serve alcohol

Unfortunately that knocks out a few of the suggestions. I would say Roxx is the front runner at this point, but keep the suggestions coming.
