Anyone else still spin vinyl LPs records in their home ?

I know about the club scene but I mean in lieu of playing CDs for listening enjoyment.

Yep. But not so often because it's difficult to find stylus for my record player here. I have to take a look at ebay one of these days...

Yep, I became kinda obsessed with rekkids a few years ago.

My music-nerdishness has subsided these days so a lot of what I loved and bought then hardly appeals now leaving most to go to waste.

I swear some music sounds ten times better on vinyl.

I love the sound of vinyl. It has such an authentic vibe to it. I'm having a hard time finding newer albums but oh well. But my favorite vinyl record it the 'Dreamgirls: Original Broadway Cast' album. AMAZING!

I don't know about *still*. I'm not exactly from the golden age of vinyl. I do put on records occasionally. Some places still sell them, even for new rock bands.
    I took this!

Just got a new (to me) LP last night. I still have a fair chunk of LPs and 7" singles sitting around at home.

    Well... LOL

When I was a teen LPs/45s were the only medium to play music!!

One of my hobbies is to buy LPs from thrift stores. I do buy a few new ones each year.

I play the record player often. Kept far too many LPs and haven't replaced `em with CDs. Plus I still get a kick out of putting the stylus down on the cut I want to hear! LOL

I'd really like to spin vinyls at home, but I'm sure it would become a very expensive hobby. I've heard the production and sound quality make it worth it though

I really wanna hear "Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness" on vinyl, the tracklisting is rearranged and sounds completely different...

    i'm a broke college student though :P

Yep - still have a vinyl collection and still listen to it, but not as often as I'd like to. I rarely get to add to my collection though.....second-hand records from op-shops (thrift/second hand stores) and garage sales are my only option nowadays. Occasionally I'll find something I desperately want and love, but not as much as I used to. To be perfectly honest, CDs are much more convenient for me.

I haven't spin vinyl in so long,
    I guess it's easier to buy CD's.
I do have a turn table, but it's not hooked up.

I need to get a new turntable cause I just ordered a deluxe double-vinyl edition of the soundtrack of the George Romero horror film 'Day of the Dead' coming out next month.

I've got about six feet of shelf space taken up by LPs and a couple of boxes of singles, but for about fifteen years I've had nothing to play them on. It's like a time capsule, one day I'll invest in a new turntable and take a long trip down Memory Lane. A couple of years ago I bought American Pie on CD but the experience of hearing it is so bound up with the sensation of handling the LP that I had to get it out and and sniff inside the sleeve while listening to the CD. I bet I'm not the only person who's done that! Fetishism and nerdery are never far apart.

Only 12" and 7" singles...and I only buy them when those songs are not available on CD.

I still play 78's from time to time. I have some over 100 years old. Also quite few 45's from the 50's and 60's.

does anyone know a good, cheap-ish level vinyl player thats good for entry. I have JT, Daft Punk vinyl and some DJ albums on vinyl and I'd love to actually listen to use them.

    This is a 7 year-old thread

    Wow.

anyway.. Thedloaon... yes. I travel a lot for work and bring my portable turntable with me along with a small stack of vinyl and I do a lot of record shopping when I'm gone which is always fun.

    Get this.

    http://www.amazon.com/Numark-PT01USB...ark+turn+table

It's fantastic. very portable, very sturdy, very reliable and has a built-in mono speaker which doesn't deliver great sound but it delivers a very low-fi sound that I kind of enjoy. You can also port out to your computer via a USB port and directly to good speakers via RCA jacks.

AND if can also be battery operated so you can take it pretty much anywhere.

Don't go with the Crosley ones. Those look cool and work HORRIBLY.
    Gentlemen.... Thank you.

Two years ago I (and it took months) Transcribed 480 of them on to ITunes. Then 375 CD's. I of course bought many MP3 downloads and also a 170 CD set of everything Mozart ever did. I now have 9779 pieces of music on my Ipod Classic
