Adrift in deep space with the city's protective shield failing, Dr. McKay and the team must do all they can to keep Atlantis alive. A radical injury threatens Dr. Weir's life.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"Martin kicks off season 4 with 'Adrift,' continuing the events of the visually stunning season-ender 'First Strike.'"
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"Spectacular visual effects + heartfelt character moments + funny moments = best season premiere ever."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    NEW - 4x02: Lifeline (Part III) / Airs Oct. 5, 2007

Colonel Sheppard and his team embark on a risky mission to steal a Z.P.M. power module from the Replicators. Samantha Carter and the Apollo race against time to find the missing city of Atlantis.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
Carl Binder's upcoming episode "Lifeline" is "the big op eppy," according to executive producer Joseph Mallozzi.
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    NEW - 4x03: Reunion / Airs Oct. 12, 2007

When the team stumbles upon Ronon's old companions, they tell how they survived when Sateda fell. Sheppard is reluctant to bring them to Atlantis, causing Ronon to decide whether to stay or live with his former allies, who harbor dark secrets on how they really survived.

A group of Ronon's people enlist the team's help in raiding a Wraith weapons facility, where they find themselves in the middle of a growing conflict with an enemy they never expected.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"I'm almost finished my rewrite of 'Reunion' and am, admittedly, a little worried. While the script offers plenty of action, it is primarily a character-driven story. It'll be interesting to see what kind of notes we receive from the network."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"We'll see a glimpse of [Ronon's] 'specialist' skills in an episode called 'Reunion.'"
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi

Stargate SG-1 co-star Christopher Judge ("Teal'c") will make a cameo appearance in this episode, according to executive producer Joseph Mallozzi.

"Mark Dacascos has signed on to play the role of Tyre. Mark was terrific in Brotherhood of the Wolf (and his stint as the host of Iron Chef America -- hmmm, wonder if he can get me on as a guest judge), and is apparently a very, very sweet guy according to Bam Bam who worked with him on The Crow."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    NEW - 4x04: Doppelganger / Airs Oct. 19, 2007
After coming across a crystalline species similar to one Jack O'Neill encountered ten years ago, Sheppard is duplicated, and his clone returns to Atlantis in his stead, bent on destroying the entire expedition by invading their nightmares.

During an off-world mission Colonel Sheppard unknowingly becomes host to an alien entity, which infects others in Atlantis and afflicts them with terrifying nightmares.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"I've always been fascinated by nightmares and dreams. So that's what this is about. It's about an alien entity that lives in crystal form. I've kind of paid a little homage to 'Cold Lazarus' and said, 'Well, OK -- there's something that we've established in the Stargate universe that we've never really dealt with before. And that is, again, lifeforms can exist in that state.'"

In the first season episode of Stargate SG-1, Jack O'Neill and SG-1 encountered a race of crystal-based beings who had been decimated by the Jaffa. When O'Neill touched one of the crystals he was knocked unconscious and duplicated by one of the beings -- who proceeded to return to Earth with SG-1 in an attempt to heal the colonel's 'pain.'"

"O'Neill went out, touched a crystal and all this stuff happened," Cooper said of the episode. "We've never done that again. And I thought, 'Well, wouldn't it be interesting if we found another crystalline life-form like that.' But in that case we were kind of lucky that it had reasonably good intentions. There was a sinister aspect to it in that we didn't know what was going on, but at the end of the day it was kind of just curious.

"So I took the flip side of that and said, 'What if it's a psychopath? What if it's truly evil?' And it enduces some pretty freaky nightmares."

The entity appears in the dreams of each member of Sheppard's team -- but as a familiar face. "What would our characters dream about? The fun part of the episode is, because it's Sheppard that initially engages and touches the crystal, and thus unleashes the entity on everyone, the physical form it takes in the nightmares is Sheppard. And so everyone is having these nightmares that are being pulled out of them by the entity, but Sheppard is appearing in those dreams as the sort of negative enciting force."

Cooper reached back not only to the first season of Stargate SG-1 in conceiving the story, but to his own childhood as well. "My dad took me to see Jaws when I was seven years old. I was seven. There's a line in the script: one of McKay's histories is that his dad read him 'Moby Dick' when he was seven years old. The line was: 'What was the man thinking?!'"

"I think I probably didn't sleep for two years," Cooper laughed. "Honestly, I probably needed therapy! This was not the sort of thing you did back then, but I probably should have gotten some sort of counseling. But instead I spent my nights thinking to myself, 'One day I shall control the power that left me so terrified!'"

The connections to the classic horror movie "Nightmare on Elm Street" were certainly not lost on the cast and crew. "The joke is in the show," Cooper said. "Sheppard at one point, when it's explained to him, says, 'So are we talking Freddy Krueger here?' And it's him. He also turns to Teyla at one point and says, 'Did I have a goatee?'"
    (Executive producer Robert C. Cooper)

    NEW - 4x05: Travelers / Airs Oct. 26, 2007
Sheppard is captured by a race of humans that have lived for generations in space to avoid any Wraith contact, and have heard of rumors about a powerful enemy against the Wraith, the Atlantis Expedition. Now they intend to use Sheppard to activate an Ancient Warship.

Colonel Sheppard is captured by the inhabitants of a generational ship and their beautiful leader, who wish to use his ability to use Ancient technology for their own ends.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"Sometime soon, Monday I hear, Paul will have 'Travelers' ready, a gift for all those of the Shep-whumping persuasion."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

Lt. Colonel John Sheppard is captured by a race the team has never before encountered, who live out their lives on board a generational ship. Their leader is a to-the-point woman named Larrin. Whereas most races settle on a planet -- doing whatever they can do avoid the Wraith -- Larrin's people have taken to space, living their entire lives on this generational ship to avoid their enemies. This ship is their home. But it's not only to avoid the Wraith, Larrin tells Sheppard -- after so many years, now it is simply who they are.

Over the past few years, her people have heard rumors of a new power in the galaxy, humans who are using Ancient technology to battle the Wraith -- the Atlantis expedition. They set up spy satellites around many worlds, and eventually discovered and captured Sheppard. Larrin is quite interested in the fact that John has the gene required to operate Lantean technology.

Commander Larrin's people are attempting to create an interface that will allow them to use the advanced Lantean technology, and require a sample of John's blood. But that is only the beginning: they have a Lantean battleship. The massive vessel has been dormant for thousands of years, and Larrin wants Colonel Sheppard to make it work.

Guest characters include Larrin, Silas (an officer on Larrin's ship), and Nevik (Larrin's chief science officer).

"Travelers" will air as the fourth episode of Season Four, according to Joseph Mallozzi.

"Jill is great as Larrin. Her group will put in at least one reappearance in the back of Season Four."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"We created a race -- we call them 'Travelers.' One of the nice things about SG-1, for instance, is that we'd be able to go off-world and encounter technologically advanced people as well as low-tech people. But the problem with Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy is we said that whenever a race would get technologically advanced the Wraith would come in and wipe them out. So there was never opportunity for a race to reach that level.

"So we decided, actually there is a way: We'll just put them in ships. And so there's an armada of ships that go from planet to planet. They come down and scavenge the leftovers of societies that have been culled by the Wraith. It's sort of a loose cannon -- kind of roguish and untrustworthy in some ways, but also potential allies in another way. [They are] just generally the type of characters that I like -- not black or white, but kind of gray.
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    NEW - 4x06: Tabula Rasa / Airs Nov. 2, 2007

A deadly disease courses through Atlantis, causing the majority of the expedition to lose their memories.

When a virus causes amnesia in everyone except Teyla and Ronon, the Atlantis team must work together to find a cure before their memories fade entirely.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
Attack of the Show's Zach Selwyn makes a cameo in this episode, having been invited by the studio to appear after creating a rap video for the G4 cable show about wanting to be on Stargate Atlantis.

"We watched the Day One Mix of 'Tabula Rasa' today. Another winner! The teaser felt like something out of the movie 'Saw.' A very unique-looking episode that Marty G. predicts 'the fans are gonna love.'"
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    NEW - 4x07: Missing / Airs Nov. 9, 2007

During a visit to New Athos, Teyla and Dr. Keller discover Teyla's people, the Athosians, are missing, and find themselves on the run from a primitive tribe of warriors.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
In "Missing," Teyla and Atlantis's new doctor, Jennifer Keller (Jewel Staite) apparently head out in search of Teyla's people, who have disappeared from their new home after having been resettled to a new planet ("The Return, Part 1").

"Congratulations to Carl Binder for writing and producing truly great episode. We watched the Day 2 Mix of 'Missing' and all thought it was terrific. Funny, scary, shocking, gross, exciting, and ultimately touching. Great job by everyone involved, especially director Andy Mikita and actresses Rachel Luttrell and Jewel Staite."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    NEW - 4x08: The Seer / Airs Nov. 16, 2007

The team comes across Davos, a man who can see into the future. He brings news that Hive Ships are on the way, but McKay sees this as an opportunity, since he turned the Asurans on after the Wraith shut them down. Now, Carter must decide the information to be valid.

While searching for the Athosians, the team meets a man with extraordinary prophetic abilities, who gives them a dark prediction about Atlantis's future.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
No major construction for 'The Seer,' but we will marry some of the exterior scenes from this episode to the 'This Mortal Coil' shoot. James and Tom also pitch out how they'd like to pull off the 'horrific reveal' at script's end. I love it!"
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

The city of Atlantis is visited by a man with extraordinary prophetic abilities, and who apparently has the ability to share these shocking visions with others. The gentle man is named Davos, and he is accompanied by a woman named Linara.

But Davos is quite ill. He believes that he is dying, but before he passes on he will share what he knows with those who now live in Atlantis, the city of the Ancestors. There are Wraith hive ships coming.

When Teyla goes to speak with Davos, he already knows that she came to his planet seeking to learn the fate of her people, the Athosians. It is not clear where they have gone or what has happened to them, but Davos can assure Teyla that they are alive -- though they are "shrouded in darkness."

And Davos knows more than this. He also knows that Teyla is pregnant.

She is stunned that he knows, and confesses that she has not told anyone on Atlantis yet.

Meanwhile, Rodney McKay is working on a major problem, which he describes to Colonel Carter and Richard Woolsey. The Wraith have found a way to shut down or in some way disable the Replicators, but McKay inadvertantly managed to turn them on again. With help from a certain Wraith they have met, he hopes that they can stop them once again.

The Wraith from "Common Ground" will return in "The Seer," and may become a recurring character.
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

Carter will come face-to-face with a Wraith in this episode.
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    4x09: Miller's Crossing / Airs Nov. 30, 2007

Jeannie Miller becomes kidnapped by Henry Wallace on Earth, after Wallace determines that only she and her brother can save his child’s life using nanotechnology. McKay comes to the rescue, but inadvertently gets captured too, and the two must prevent his daughter's death.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
This episode will see the return of actress Kate Hewlett as McKay's sister, Jeannie Miller. Jeannie first appeared a year earlier, in Season Three's "McKay and Mrs. Miller." Jeannie is a brilliant scientist who is living on Earth as a full-time wife and mother.

"Even Ronon will don some atypical civvies in 'Miller's Crossing.'"
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

After being reunited with his estranged sister Jeannie a year ago ("McKay and Mrs. Miller"), Rodney has been keeping up a correspondence with her back on Earth. Unfortunately, certain powerful people are aware of this -- and use it to lure Jeannie into a trap. Rodney goes looking for her, and the two find themselves captives.

Rodney wakes up in a laboratory on Earth with Jeannie, and the two meet the man behind all of this: Henry Wallace, the president of Devlin Medical Technologies. His company gets a lot of government contracts, and is one of their primary resources for integrating alien technologies acquired by the Stargate Program into Earth's medical technology. Wallace therefore has only the lowest level of access to information -- but after a few too many astounding break-throughs by the military, he has managed to find out all about the S.G.C., Atlantis ... and Rodney McKay.

Soon Wallace shows the two brilliance scientists why he's brought them here: his daughter Sharon, a young woman suffering from leukemia. McKay isn't sure what he wants the two of them to do -- neither are medical doctors. Wallace explains that Sharon has been given prototype nanites to try and heal her, but they are doing more harm than good. She is dying.

Rodney and Jeannie are experts on their coding ... but the problems haven't been worked out yet.

The rest of the Atlantis team, of course, won't take Rodney's disappearance lying down. Sheppard and Ronon visit Earth, where they work with Stargate Command and N.I.D. Agent Malcolm Barrett to try and find their missing people.

Guest characters include Henry Wallace, Jeannie Miller, Sharon, and various medical technicians. Stargate SG-1's Gary Jones ("Walter Harriman") and Peter Flemming ("Malcolm Barrett") will also appear, as will the S.G.C. itself.

"The director's cut of 'Miller's Crossing' came in a little long which will probably mean a scene or two not making the cut -- but hopefully finding their way onto a future Deleted Footage Special Feature. By the way, guest star Steven Culp is terrific in this one."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    4x10: This Mortal Coil (Part I) / Airs Dec. 7, 2007

This will be the first episode of a mid-season three-parter of Atlantis's fourth season. This episode will also feature the brief return of Dr. Elizabeth Weir. No further summary available yet.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"This Mortal Coil" is the first installment of the mid-season two-parter, followed by "Be All My Sins Remember'd." Both titles are from Hamlet's famous "To be or not to be" soliloquy from Shakespeare's Hamlet, Act 3 Scene 1:

    To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
    That makes calamity of so long life;
    ... Soft you now!
The fair Ophelia! Nymph, in thy orisons
    Be all my sins remember'd.
"This mortal coil" refers to the physical body, to be shed at death.

"I'm looking forward to seeing all of the first half episodes this season. I think we have an exceptionally strong line-up for Season Four so far. As for which episodes fans should be looking forward to most for each member of the team -- it's tough to say only because my opinion could be very different from fan opinion especially when you start factoring in the different fan factions. But, in my opinion, I'd say: 'Travelers' for Sheppard, 'Miller's Crossing' for McKay, 'Reunion' for Ronon, 'Missing' for Teyla, 'The Seer' for Carter, 'This Mortal Coil' for Weir, and 'Missing' again for Keller."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

4x11: Be All My Sins Remember'd (Part II) / Airs Jan. 4, 2008

The team uses a captured Wraith as an ally to fight a common enemy. With his help, they hope to recruit a fleet of Hive ships to complete their mission, unfortunately, not as many ships flock to the cause, and the expedition might cause a war that they won't be able to contain.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
The Atlantis team has allied themselves with a captured Wraith, a scientist who wants to help them against a common enemy. Under heavy guard, the Wraith helps McKay in his science lab.

The Daedalus and Apollo, two of Earth's battlecruisers, orbit the planet over Atlantis. On board the Daedalus, Colonel Carter is working at the Asgard Hermiod's former work station. As she reviews some recent modifications to the ship, Colonel Caldwell engages her in conversation. The two talk about her new command of the Atlantis base, which Sam tells him is going well ... though she didn't realize how much she would miss being out in the field on an SG team.

John Sheppard, Teyla, and Ronon Dex are joined by their new Wraith friend on a mission to make contact with the Wraith fleet. But when they arrive on a hive ship the Wraith stun them, in orer to speak with the Wraith privately. Later, on board their Puddle Jumper in space, Sheppard wakes up to find himself with the Wraith. Ronon and Teyla are there, too, but still unconscious. After returning his missing sidearm, the Wraith tells Sheppard that seven hive ships have been convinced to join their fight. It is not as many as they were hoping for, but a good start.

    A war is brewing.

Just who is their common enemy? The information available doesn't make it clear, but it may be that rather than allying with the Replicators against the Wraith ("Progeny"), Atlantis is allying with the Wraith against the Replicators. Stay tuned for updates as new information becomes available -- and, as always, remember that this info is subject to change during the production process.

Guest characters in the episode include the Wraith, Colonel Steven Caldwell (Mitch Pileggi), and Dr. Radek Zelenka (David Nykl). The Wraith may be the same character played by Christopher Heyerdahl in the third season episode "Common Ground," who has been confirmed as returning in Season Four.

"Both Michael [Beach] and Mitch [Pileggi] and their respective ships [the Apollo and the Daedalus] will be putting in an appearance."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"Spent most of the day in editing today ('Reunion' is coming along swimmingly), taking a break for lunch and the 'Be All My Sins Remember'd' read-through. I read the part of Caldwell and really killed. Alan McCullough read the part of the lovely Larrin and we were all blown away by the palpable chemistry between him and Joe Flanigan. If we'd known he'd do such a spectacular job, we'd have cast HIM for 'Travelers.'"
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"We watched Marty G.'s producer cut of 'Be All My Sins Remember'd' today. Another great episode. Can't say enough about the convening of the war council scene."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

NEW - 4x12: Spoils of War (Part III) / Airs Jan. 11, 2008

This will be the third episode of a mid-season three-parter of Atlantis's fourth season. No summary available yet.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"We watched the director's cut of 'Spoils of War' (I'm so glad I ate my breakfast before sitting down to watch that Wraith birthing scene)."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"I highly recommend all fans to be on the watch for 'Spoils of War' this season! Not only because yours truly is in it but the episode explains a lot about the Wraith."
    (Actress Andee Frizzell)

    4x13: Quarantine / Airs Jan. 18, 2008

An imposed lockdown of the Ancient city of Atlantis threatens to challenge various relationships that are spread out through the entire expedition.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
When the city of Atlantis is put under quarantine lockdown, Rodney finds himself stuck in the botany lab with girlfriend Katie Brown (Brenda James).

Actor David Hewlett writes: "Back from the big island of Hawaii and hard at work roaring towards the end of season four of Stargate Atlantis! It's so hard to believe that we've only got eight more episodes to shoot before we're done for another year. I'm a bit confused (no news there really) as we've got a few days of 'Miller's Crossing' to tidy up while we shoot 'Quarantine' and before we get caught up we'll be well into part one of 'The Kindred.' Spent the first week back locked in a room full of plants with the lovely and talented Brenda James reprising her role as Katie Brown. Not a bad way to get back into the lost city!"
    (Actor David Hewlett)

    ___________________________________________

    4x14: Outcast / Airs Jan. 25, 2008

This episode will center around Lt. Col. Sheppard's return to Earth for unknown reasons. No further summary available yet.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"Outcast" is based on a story idea pitched by actor Joe Flanigan, and will delve into John Sheppard's backstory when the character returns home to Earth.

"Martin [Gero] was writing the Sheppard on Earth story but, having finished 'Trio' (formerly 'Three's Company'), he will start on 'Harmony' while Alan McCullough assumes writing duties on the JF [Joe Flanigan]-inspired eppy."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"Delving into Sheppard's backstory was one of the things on our To-Do list at the beginning of the season, and Joe's idea gives us the perfect scenario in which to do it."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"Still looking for a title for the Sheppard on Earth story we finished breaking yesterday. To those of you who are using the bio on the Sci Fi website as a guide, stand advised -- the reference to his father being a Cold War Colonel is not canon. I'm not even sure where it came from. So, expect some insight into Shep's past relationships late in season four."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"We're spinning Sheppard's backstory, specifically the fact that in 'Letters From Pegasus' he didn't really seem to have anyone out there. And the question is 'Why?' And we've got something really cool planned. ... Joe came up with a great springboard for a story. We're going back to Earth."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"We are working on a late-season episode in which [Sheppard] is reunited with his ex-wife." The fact that John is divorced was first mentioned in the Season Three episode "Sunday."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    ___________________________________________

    NEW - 4x15: Trio / Airs Feb. 1, 2008

This episode will see Dr. Mckay, Col. Carter, and Dr. Keller trapped in a confined space. No further summary available yet.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"To all of you Sam fans dying for a hint of what's going on with Carter's love life, you'll have to wait until 'Trio' for a not-so-subtle tip-off."

"... We will not be dealing with Sam's love life on Atlantis. However, a passing mention of her personal life during a candid moment is another matter."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"The next two Stargate Atlantis episodes "Harmony" & "Trio" are really McKay heavy so I doubt I'm going to have much time to do more than just learn lines and sleep, but even with hiatus, DVD releases and babies fast approaching I'm still very eager to get back behind the camera!"
    (Actor David Hewlett)

    ___________________________________________

    4x16: Midway / Airs Feb. 8, 2008

This episode will center around the Midway Space Station of the McKay-Carter Intergalactic Gate Bridge. No further summary available yet.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
"Midway" will feature the new Midway Space Station introduced in the third season episode "The Return, Part 1." The station -- at that time incomplete and open to space -- is located in the vast, empty space between the Milky Way Galaxy (home of Earth) and the Pegasus Galaxy (home of Atlantis). It is the midway point on a traveler’s journey along the intergalactic gate bridge, where the transition is made from the Pegasus gate network to the Milky Way system.

"After taking time off to do a little fishing, Carl is heavy into 'Midway.' It'll be great to finally see the big men spar. It'll also be nice to have Kavanagh back. Unfortunately, he won't find his return quite as enjoyable."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"In Season Three we set up the Midway station. And we're going to follow that through, through a good part of Season Four. But in sci-fi nothing lasts forever and the best laid plans often go awry. So if you get your heart set on the Midway station, you may be disappointed."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

    4x17: Harmony / Airs Feb. 15, 2008

Colonel Sheppard and Dr. McKay must protect a child princess on a pilgrimage before she can become queen, and learn that she has dangerous enemies threatening her life.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
Colonel Sheppard and Dr. McKay visit one of their favorite planets, where they toast a long-time trading partnership. Their hosts are two beautiful and charming princesses, Flora and Mardola. As palace guards stand nearby, they thank John and Rodney for their life-saving medicine, their warnings about a Wraith culling, and their kindness. The two men are obviously smitten.

But as they prepare to leave, the women bring themselves to ask for a favor. They have a younger sister named Harmony, who they introduce to Sheppard and McKay. With their mother the Queen having recently died, Harmony is the heir to the throne -- but before she can be crowned, she must pass a dangerous test and trek a day's walk into the forest, to the Temple of Laros. While others are generally not permitted to assist in the rite of passage, the concerned older sisters wish Sheppard and McKay to protect Harmony from danger without the others knowing.

They are happy enough to oblige, and head into the woods with the strong-willed girl. It isn't long before danger finds them -- but it's not lions, tigers, or bears. There is a Genii contingent on the planet, and the deadly soldiers seem to be trying to prevent Harmony from ascending to the throne. Though they manage to take out some of the men, they must stay on the run ... and keep young Harmony alive.

The Genii's motives are not solely their own, however. They are working with one of Harmony's sisters.

Guest characters include Harmony, Flora, Mardola, the Genii Field Captain, Genii soldiers, and various palace guards and villagers.

    4x18: The Kindred (Part I) / Airs Feb. 22, 2008

This episode will mark the brief return of Dr. Carson Beckett. No further summary available yet.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
The early working title for this two-part episode was "Rise of the Googlions," invented by Atlantis writer Carl Binder and meaning nothing in particular.

"The Kindred" is expected to be the two-part episode that will feature the much-rejoiced return of former series regular Paul McGillion as Dr. Carson Beckett. The character died in an explosion while saving a man's life in Season Three's controversial episode "Sunday."

"Well, spent most of the early afternoon writing the outline for 'Rise of the Googlions, Part 1.' A number of pieces fall into place as many of the things we've been building toward come to fruition (and not in a sweet apple sort of way either). Surprises in store; revelations galore."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

Could "The Kindred" be the story in which the Wraith Michael will return? "Hey, that's not a bad idea!"
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"Oh, dear. This is what happens when you hang on to a gag title a little too long. Sooner or later, it makes it onto the schedule, the Art Department starts using it in their design updates, and producer John N. Smith can be heard uttering the words: 'We should check out that location. We might be up there for Googlions.' For all of you who have been racking your brains trying to come up with the hidden meaning behind the 'Rise of the Googlions' title, allow me to reveal it for you. ... 'Rise of the Googlions' was nothing more than an inane title Carl came up with off the top of his head. To all those who wasted any amount of time searching the Internet for clues about the googlions, blame Mr. Binder who unwittingly sent you all out on a wild goose chase."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

"Paul [Mullie], meanwhile, phoned me up to discuss some of the changes he wants to make to 'Kindred I.' The fact that Wraith ships don't possess shields certainly complicates matters, but I've always loved Paul's idea of giving them limited regenerative capabilities. And, if it survives the polish, we get to find out where Lorne grew up."
    (Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi)

Joseph Mallozzi teased fans with a single line of dialogue from "The Kindred, Part 1": "Same as you. Scavenging the ruins of a dead world."

This episode will mark the brief return of Dr. Carson Beckett. No further summary available yet.

    NEW - 4x20: The Last Man / Airs Mar. 7, 2008

    No summary available yet.

    Spoilers and Tidbits:
    Nothing at this time.

    Other Spoilers and General Information:

NEW - We have received a preliminary broadcast schedule for the fourth season of Stargate Atlantis on SCI FI Channel! The new season premieres in a little over one month, and will air straight through with only brief breaks for the holidays (one week for Thanksgiving, three weeks for Christmas and New Year's Day).

The mid-season finale will air on December 7, as previously announced. New episodes will resume on SCI FI on January 4, marching straight through to the season finale on March 7.

This list includes some slight changes to the previous estimates of the airing order, and of course is subject to change by the network. Season Four is still in production in Vancouver, British Columbia, with the still untitled season finale going before cameras in late September.

The fourth season of Stargate Atlantis premieres Friday, September 28 at 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific on SCI FI Channel in the U.S.! Canada's Movie Central will premiere the new episodes on Monday, October 1, while Sky One's U.K. premiere is set for Tuesday, October 9.

The writers have stated that season 4 will take the series in a new direction. The future appears bleak with the incapacitation of Weir and multiple injuries among the senior members of the expedition. With the city damaged, running out of power and drifting in space, cut off from Earth, the Atlantis expedition has to rely on their own resourcefulness to save Atlantis, and by extension themselves, from death and destruction. A new alien race will be introduced as well. This new race is called the "Travelers". They are a race that has been able to flourish and become technologically advanced due to their nomadic lifestyle. Since they are always moving it has made it impossible for the Wraith to "cull" them. Colonel Samantha Carter joins as a regular and acts as the expedition leader but how she arrives at the city is still unknown. We reported on April 10, 2007 that Carson Beckett will return from the dead for at least three episodes of Season 4. Since then, that number has been reduced to two episodes, the third having been shelved for future consideration. It is also a possibility that Acastus Kolya will also rise from the grave and make an appearance in one of the later episodes of Season 4. According to Joseph Mallozzi, the season will have "light" moments (such as the pregnancy of Rachel Luttrell's character, Teyla Emmagan), but the show’s fourth season will be darker than its predecessors overall.

Atlantis enters its fourth season, carrying the torch of the Stargate franchise alone. Joining the crew this season, Amanda Tapping reprises her SG-1 role as Samantha Carter, who soon takes over as the commander of the project from Elizabeth Weir (Torri Higginson).

Executive producer Joseph Mallozzi explains Carter's takeover: "She's so multifaceted. She's got the science background, so she can take some of the heat off of McKay and his gobbledygook. She's got the military background, so if she needs to head off-world, she can head off-world with the team. She's also got teh leadership backgroun to basically settle in quite nicely as the new commander of the Atlantis expedition."

There are many new faces aboard Atlantis this season, whilst existing characters will be given stronger story arcs. Teyla Emmagan (Rachel Luttrell) finds herself pregnant, as the actress' real-life pregnancy is written into the script.

Atlantis will also see a new race this season in the form of the Travellers, Mallozzi comments: "They are nomads, travelling on ships and establishing a civilisation. They are very rustic and have a very cool look." (Sci-Fi Now)

This season of Atlantis is set to be one of transition, as the Stargate crew get set to rise to the challenge of filling the void of SG-1.

The SCI FI Channel confirmed its plans for this fall's broadcast schedule today, including new details on the fourth season of Stargate Atlantis.

Season Four premieres on Friday, September 28 in a new timeslot: 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific, 9 p.m. Central. Atlantis's mid-season finale ("This Mortal Coil") will air on December 7, and will feature the return of former series regular Torri Higginson as Dr. Elizabeth Weir.

In the episode, "the Atlantis team must ally itself with a known enemy to join forces against an even greater foe," the site said. Based on currently known spoilers, it is believed that the Atlantis team allies with the Wraith against the human-form Replicators. Sheppard's Wraith ally from last year's "Common Ground" will return in Season Four.

It is believed that the network will air the full season straight through with only a break for Thanksgiving and the December holiday season, though SCI FI has yet to confirm this. If true, new episodes will pick up with "Be All My Sins Remember'd" in early January.

Stargate Atlantis will move to 10 p.m. Eastern/Pacific when it returns for its fourth season on Friday, September 28, according to SCI FI Channel's Schedulebot.

This marks a return to Atlantis's original timeslot, in which it aired during the first part of its first season in 2004. Atlantis was bumped up to 9 p.m. when the darker and more adult-themed Battlestar Galactica premiered in 2005.

Just how the later (and, generally speaking, better-performing) timeslot will affect the show's all-important ratings is anyone's guess. Season Four will mark Atlantis's first time airing new episodes during the more competitive fall season; and its first time airing without Stargate SG-1 as its lead-in.

SCI FI Channel's Friday night line-up -- at least for the first part of the fall, as its summer series are still winding down -- looks like this:

    7 p.m. - Bionic Woman (off-network rerun)
    8 p.m. - Doctor Who (Season Three)
    9 p.m. - Flash Gordon
    10 p.m. - Stargate Atlantis
The same episode of Atlantis will reair at 12 midnight. As always, scheduling decisions are subject to change between now and the show's September 28 premiere.

As Samantha Carter (Amanda Tapping) takes over command of the Stargate Atlantis expedition, she will have to do more than just worry about the constant expressions of lust from Rodney McKay (David Hewlett).

The fourth season of Atlantis will feature a new alien race with technology far beyond that of the expedition, as well as a storyline centered around the real-life pregnancy of Rachel Luttrell ("Teyla Emmagan").

"We had a story in development where [Teyla] would be out in the woods with Jewel [Staite], and it was a fairly violent episode," said Paul Mullie, executive producer of Atlantis, during Tuesday's SCI FI Channel digital media tour in Vancouver, B.C. "We were writing the story when [Luttrell] came in and told us she was pregnant. We were too far down the road to change it, so we decided that, 'Oh well, she doesn't know she's pregnant in this story.' It was the story which in the end she finds out."

Producers decided to write Luttrell's pregnancy into the show, although they would not give details on exactly how the pregnancy would be incorporated. Luttrell, who was showing physical signs of her pregnancy at the press event, said jokingly that her pregnancy was a way to make sure that the producers further developed her character in the fourth season.

"This was to ensure more of a character arc," Luttrell said. Mullie, however, added that they had wanted to incorporate a strong story arc for Teyla in the fourth season, and her pregnancy made it that much easier to find a way to do it.

Outside of making babies, the Atlantis expedition is going to make contact with its first race that is actually far more technologically advanced than just about every other culture they have faced. Because cultures in the galaxy tend to not advance very far society-wise because of cullings by the Wraith, cultures that are more advanced than those manning Atlantis have been few and far between.

However, the Travelers, as they are called, are expected to make an appearance early in the fourth season ("Travelers").

"One of the things that Atlantis kind of lacked that [Stargate SG-1] had were technologically advanced races," said executive producer Joseph Mallozzi. "We created this race called the Travelers. They are nomads, traveling on ships and establishing a civilization. They are very rustic, and have a very cool look."

The Travellers are expected to show up again sometime after the fourth episode during the upcoming season, Mallozzi said.

Martin Gero, recently promoted to co-executive producer of Stargate Atlantis, took time out of his schedule to pass us a few insights into the goings-on at Bridge Studios this year. With Atlantis shoveling 20 of 22 new Stargate stories in 2007, the ball has passed to the court of the three-year old series to up the ante with the absence of a new SG-1 season.

However, Martin immediately admits that one show is a much smaller load for the team than two. "It is first and foremost a lot less work," he told us, "which is great. I've been used to writing seven to eight episodes a year, and this year I have to write four. I'm maybe going to do five. So my writing work has been cut in half."

In the heat of a season, when a single writer is tasked with over half a dozen scripts, Martin said around three are "crazy-to-rush" jobs. He feels that with a lightened load of stories he'll have more time to be meticulous about each. "So hopefully the writing is all a lot better this year. We have no excuse this year if any of the scripts are bad, because we've had an ample amount of time to write them. We started shooting episode one with episode ten starting to be written. We've never been that far ahead.

"So that is a real luxury and, so far, has really allowed us to put a lot of work into drafts. It's unfortunate because it usually means we're doing a lot more work on the drafts that we have, but I think they're making better episodes. I think these first ten are all pretty good. There's no misses in this first ten. Yet. We'll see. I might screw that up."

Since the launch of Atlantis the Stargate production team has preached the benefits of running two shows under one roof. The real question now is whether the impact will be the same with SG-1 doing four hours of television instead of 20. The direct-to-DVD movies Stargate: The Ark of Truth and Stargate: Continuum are now in production.

"I know that there was a concern that the production value of the show would go down. In fact," Gero admitted, "it's gone up, and we're able to spend the money we would only be able to spend once or twice a year on episodes fairly consistently. Once every three episodes we have a pretty giant episode. So 'Adrift' and 'Lifeline' are massive, massive episodes."

Gero has promised us that an ongoing story arc is in the works for a cast member who has lacked attention in recent seasons. An examination of the stories revealed so far show the producers are hoping Season Four will bring about equilibrium.

"The end of Season Three was essentially a soft reset," Gero tells us. "That doesn't last as long as some of us would have liked it to, for a number of reasons. But it is with Carter and Weir and stuff like that.

"There's a lot of changes this year. The introduction of Jewel [Staite]," in addition to Michael Beach. "So even though Atlantis isn't going to be stuck in space for the whole season, it is somewhat of a soft reset. So it's important for us to have gotten those episodes right, and I think we have."

Also, be sure to check out David Hewlett's (Dr. Rodney McKay) new comedy, A Dog's Breakfast, coming to DVD September 18th, 2007 in the U.S. (along with Atlantis' third season DVD box set), and shortly thereafter internationally, and is available NOW for download via iTunes and Amazon.com Unbox Video Downloads.

David wrote, directed, produced (along with his fiance' Jane Loughman, and Stargate SG-1/Atlantis producer John Lenic), and starred in A Dog's Breakfast, which stars such Stargate regulars as: David Hewlett (Dr. Rodney McKay, Stargate Atlantis), Kate Hewlett (David's real-life sister, who plays Dr. McKay's sister Jeannie Miller on Stargate Atlantis), Paul McGillion (Dr. Carson Beckett, Stargate Atlantis), Rachell Luttrell (Teyla Emmagan, Stargate Atlantis), Christopher Judge (Teal'c, Stargate SG-1), and David's real-life dog Mars.

When Marylin brings home her new sci-fi-soap star fiancé Ryan, her big brother Patrick first tries to drive a wedge between the happy couple. After several unsuccessful attempts, Patrick tries to murder Ryan.

If you've never been good at anything in your life, why would murder be any different? A Dog's Breakfast is a head smacking, bone breaking, fiancé bashing romp, about a family that just loves themselves to pieces. Patrick has always had a somewhat combative relationship with his little sister Marilyn. But when she brings home her new TV star fiancé Ryan, it's all out war. When Patrick fails to drive a wedge between the happy couple, he reaches for sharper instruments. Every family has a few skeletons in the closet; A Dog's Breakfast is the nightmarishly funny mess Patrick makes when he tries to add another to his.

A Dog's Breakfast is a Canadian black comedy independent film produced in 2006. It was the first film to be written and directed by David Hewlett, who is best known for his role in the TV series Stargate Atlantis. Hewlett created the film as a private off-season project and stars alongside his real-life sister Kate Hewlett and Atlantis actor Paul McGillion. The film was produced by John Lenic and Hewlett's then-girlfriend (now-fiancée) Jane Loughman.

Due to its strong affiliation with the Stargate franchise, the film generated considerable buzz within the Stargate fandom. It had several screenings in selected major towns in the USA and the UK in late 2006 and 2007. MGM picked up worldwide television and home video rights to the film in early December 2006. The film is scheduled to be released on DVD on September 18, 2007 in The United States and Canada.

After having the original idea of making a movie, David Hewlett and Jane Loughman approached Stargate producer John Lenic, who arranged deals with motion picture companies. Paramount Production Services in Vancouver were confident enough in them to supported them with free grip and electric equipment. Panavision Canada provided HD cameras for two weeks for a day's rate.

The majority of A Dog's Breakfast was filmed on a fourteen day schedule and with extremely limited funds in January 2006 when Stargate Atlantis (the TV show David Hewlett stars in) was on hiatus between seasons, although some scenes had already been filmed on Saturdays during the Atlantis season. David Hewlett had originally planned to shoot at his own house in Washington, but legal problems due to its US location forced the otherwise Canadian production to rent a house in Canada. Vancouver proved as a convenient alternative. Many of the local actors and crew were eager to participate in the project, since the Vancouver winter weather yearly causes the local acting business to be comparibly slow.

In addition to several Stargate producers and crew members, this film also stars and co-stars several actors of Stargate fame, all being on hiatus from the Stargate franchise. A Dog's Breakfast used Stargate sets and equipment as well (see the Stargate crossovers section). Hewlett mentioned he wrote the script especially around those availabilities. This made it possible to produce the film with a budget of $120,000 total to film and produce, mostly privately raised.

This is so exciting. I didn't read the show summaries, but I cant wait to see how they get Atlantis to a safe place, and whats more, where it goes. I did glance over one item which said Ronan find some of his own people still alive. Which will be cool.

I love love love that Sam is going to be taking over Atlantis. Now all we need is Daniel Jackson to come over, and this has all the makings of a 10 year hit!!! Although, it might only make it to 7.

I'm already going through Stargate withdrawal from ending SG-1. Please don't even talk about a possible end date to this ******

I can't wait to have Sam in command. It really helps to bridge an audience from the original to this ****** And I can't wait for this new season to start. Thanks for the Episode List!

It looks like it will be a good season.
I did not know Sam will be in command.
Maybe they will get more money for the
special effects with SG1 being cancelled.
Season 3 on DVD is going to be released
on the same day as the Premier, Sept. 18th.

OUCH, the 18th is a typo, i need to get that fixed ASAP. The "airs on" date for the first episode below that is correct, it premeires on the 28th. So the DVDs come out 10 days BEFORE the premeire, meaning there's pleanty of time to watch season 3 again! W00T!

And i'll post a whole load of spoilers and tidbits for those "not in the know" later today.

Re: Stargate Atlantis: Season 4 (Open Spoilers)

Hi Blackwolf, hi gambit, hi xenos, hi piggyman, and hi IMPALA! Welcome to the thread! Please, come and post as often as you like! I'm hoping to get a nice Atlantis thread going here, anything goes!

I like that Sam is coming over too, a lot of people don't, but i think they fear she's going to "take over" the show, which from what i've read certainly doesn't seem to be the case. I think she'll be a nice addition, and i don't think the writers are going to make her out shadow anyone else.

Xenos, yep Sam's gonna be in charge, and Weir is out. Well, not out out, but she's going to have her hands full elsewhere, though she will be in 4 episodes of season 4.

I'm still working on that list of stuff that we know about the upcoming season, just been busy thus far today. I'm a stargate junky, so i track down all the inside info, chat with producers of the show, yadda yadda. Now, if i could only get my arse up to Canada and plow my way onto the set so i can get ON the ******.. hehe.

Who is everyone's favorite character? Mine is Rodney, i absolutely adore him, he's got to be the funniest guy in the universe! And David Hewlett is a genius, and so adorkable. Heh, he also happens to be the freakin' hottest guy on the frakking planet! Don't get me wrong, flanigan's not bad, and the two would make a cute couple (as if the character of Sheppard isn't gay already), but i'd sooooo pick David over Flanigan. Hewlett is suuuuuuch a geek in real life, just like me! *swoon* But alas, he has a fiance' and a baby on the way.

Oh, BABIES, god, yea i have to add that to my list of spoilers and tidbits for the show, those of you who haven't read spoilers before, wait for this one!

    P.S.
And a "thank you" to corny for fixing that typo in the first post, Atlantis Season 4 premiers the 28th, not the 18th, which it says correctly now.

well the reason why Sam is taking over is because Amanda Tapping (Sam Carter) still has time on her contract, so instead of paying her out. they decided to stick her on Atlantis. she is happy about it though.

Actually that's not the whole reason. The powers that be were planning to replace Weir even before SG-1 got cancelled, early on in the last season. They lined up several replacement candidates, and when SG-1 got cancelled and Amanda had time left on her contract, they OFFERED her the chance to come over, no stings attached. She said she'd love to, and so that solved the problem of the new commander for them, and they didn't have to continue where their list of other candidates. But had she said no, they planned to let her out of her contract with no troubles. And yea, she's happy to be there. She and David (Hewlett) really get along well, and are good friends, so she has a blast working with him. And she's fitting in really well i think, from what i've seen and read.

Yep, I guess it's true. Blondes have more fun!
Weir should have keep the short blond hair....
.........................like Sam's. There, I said it.
I guess we should have seen it coming in
season 8, episode 2 of SG1, when Jack replaced
her at the SGC. It's been more then implied that
Jack and Sam have a thing going on and that's
why he retired, again. I'm interested to see
if that's played out and if Sam will use it to
keep Rodney at bay. X M
    That's 100 posts for me!

So - seriously - I know you want the ratings to be high etc. etc. but I don't get that kinda TV over here - so when do you think it'll be on the internet? What side of the Atlantic is it being shown on first?

Well done on your 100th post Xenos Morphe

Well i'm sure they'll be up on BitTorrent several days after each episode airs. And ALL the episodes will be up legitimately on iTunes and Amazon.com Unbox Video the day after each episode airs. I think they cost about $1.99 a peice via download.

The good news is that season 4 will premiere IN THE UNITED STATES. That means the first viewing will occur here in the U.S., so that the most people will watch for the first time here (unfortunately, the ONLY place where the ratings system is in place and counts). So hopefully the ratings will be high because they haven't aired overseas yet. So goes the theory. SCIFI is waiting until the first few episodes of Season 4 air before making their final descision on renewing the show for a 5th season.

Yea the dreadlocks kinda kill it for me. Personally? Rodney's more my kind of guy . I wouldn't mind being in the middle of a Rodney-Sheppard (McShep) sandwich . But yea, if i had to pic one guy, Rodney all the way, he's so damn cute! And smart.

I mean just look at how fucking hot/cute he is! RAWR!

I'm a fan, though I find that my ability to watch with any consistency is sporadic. I THINK it airs here in Canada on Space Thursday nights, but I'm not sure.

I was quite choked that I missed the series finale of SG-1.

Interestingly enough, the studio in which the series if filmed is within fifteen minutes or so walking distance from where I live.

Stargate SG1 season 10 is available on DVD now. It's been available at Netflix for a couple of weeks and Blockbuster on line just got it, very long wait though.

You live less than 15 minutes from the Bridge studios!? Color me jealous. I'd probably be arrested for stalking the place.

I need to move to Vancouver. Though i hear it rains a lot there.

Yup, it's true, about fifteen minutes away.

Mid Fall, Winter, and early Spring can be a tad damp it's true, but it's not always gloomy.

And once you move, we can work on your spelling.

I;m really excited for this season of Atlantis. Carter has always been my favorite from the begining, and to see her in a commander role will be awesome. I will miss Weir though, but carters better.

I will miss Weir as well. But she's not dieing (at least not right away.......), and she is going to be in 4 episodes this season. I'd rather have Carson back, but then again i like Jewel Staite (Dr. Keller) a lot, she's a great actress. So... All things considered, i'm glad Carter is finally getting her own Command, as a full bird Colonel. Though i don't know about the long hair she'll be sporting. I'm more of a Carter-short-hair fan.

And i'm soooooo glad Rachel (Teyla) got preggers in real life, because they had to work it into her character on screen. Why me so happy? Because the original plan was to make McKay a daddy *shudder* and have him have to go through parenthood *BLETCH*

Nothing would ruin my image of Rodney more than a baby on his hip. I have a hard enough time seeing him with that bitch Katie Brown. She annoys the hell out of me.

I love Rodney to death, he is by far my favorite character, i think i said that already a few times. He's so cute, sweet, smart, adorkable, etc... *blissful sigh*

Yea... not so much... Ponytail it is. Oh well, at least it's behind her head most of the time. Won't see it in the head on shots. She's going for a very laid back look. Trying to snag Rodney i'd imagine. She has that secret crush on him , after all, he did name an alien whale after her.

Speaking of Rodney (David Hewlett), here are some various videos from David to the fans:

His most recent video, posted about an hour ago:

And here are the trailers for his AWESOME new movie, A Dog's Breakfast, which he wrote, produced (along with his fiance'), and starred in. It's a Dark Comedy, it's absolutely hilarious, one of the best comidies i've ever seen. It's coming to DVD in September (18th in the U.S., and it will be released internationally thereafter), so everyone buy it (It's also available for download on iTunes and Amazon Unbox Video)! In addition to David (Rodney McKay), it also stars Kate Hewlett (David's real-life sister, who plays Dr. McKay's sister, Jeanie Miller, on Stargate Atlantis), Paul McGillion (Dr. Carson Beckett on Stargate Atlantis), Rachel Luttrell (Teyla on Stargate Atlantis), Christopher Judge (Teal'c on Stargate SG-1), and of course David's dog Mars.

He and a small crew made the movie inbetween the filmind of Stargate Atlantis' seasons 2 and 3. They filmed the entire thing in less than 14 days for about $120,000. And it's turned into a SENSATIONAL hit. It's received high praise from everyone you could think of. It's just a great movie, so show your support! And buy or download it! It will also be available at Best Buy stores on Sept. 18th, along with Atlantis' third season box set. So why not get a twofer?
