    The new Evanescence single.

    wow..

    boring.

    and so.. commercial.

I mean, they used to be a fun North American version of Lacuna Coil, and now they're a slightly more rocking Fleetwood Mac.

And what the fuck is with the trip-hop loop in the middle? Were they playing an Enigma album in the control room or something?

    Production is third-rate, too.

Oh well.. at least the new Lacuna Coil album is really good.
    Gentlemen.... Thank you.

I don't think it sounds any different from their last album and what's wrong with Fleetwood Mac by the way?

it's QUITE different from the last album. Just.. kinda... wimpy. And I don't recall break beats on the last album.

And nothing is wrong with Fleetwood Mac if you want extremely well written but gloppy pop from the 70s.

Yeah I understand. But I like Evanescence's new song, it's still rockin' in my opinion and I'll love almost anything Amy Lee does.

I really like the new single. I think the album will be great. We do need to remember though that there is only one track that we have heard from the album. Maybe people will find others they like better.

Some people may just not like an album at all, which you can't blame them for. Every album an artist puts out, not everyone will like. I guess time will tell with this one.

Yeah, I've liked their music, but after listening to a full album, I can't find enough variety to want to do it again very soon. Maybe that will change with the new album...(or not...)

There's something wrong with the chorus. The chords sound strange for some reason. Somethings missing.

It's a good song, but it sounds very similar to their other stuff.

Me too. Who cares about the band, for me Evanescence is Amy Lee and when Ben Moody left I knew it wouldn't matter as long as she was the lead singer.

Don't be silly. I like plenty of commercially successful bands. In fact, I listed Madonna and Ladytron on my favorite songs this year on a thread about a month ago.

I just liked the stuff on the last album better than this single which I think is boring. ( and to be honest, this song sounds exactly like the "Everybody's Fool" off the last album. Same tune and everything)

And no, I dont' think this album is going to do that much.
    Gentlemen.... Thank you.

oh... ok, shows how much I know about Pop music. They play "EVerything you touch" on the radio here in LA about once every 20 mintues, so I figured they were big.

Oh well it's climbing the Hot 100. Why does everyone always freak out when a rock band has mainstream success, that's so stupid.

theres a reason i sort of stoped listening to american music.... commercialization... i prefer the stuff i get from europe... especially from germany and finland... with evanescence i like a couple... bring me to life, my imortal, and lies... but thats it really... i haven't listened to them since that stuff since i never listen to the radio...

Listened to it about 3 times straight and what can I say, it is AMAZING!!! It's everything I would hope Evanescence came back with. I cannot say enough about it.

Definitely favorite songs are "Lacrymos" and "Your Star."

    LOVE EVANESCENCE!!!

    Sucks it's all in WMA.

anyone know a good converter to MP3?

I've only heard the first song which sounds like... well.. the first song on the first album but a bit less Gothic and a bit more rock n roll.

    Liking it so far.

I happen to LOVE Evanescence..Their old Origin stuff, their Fallen stuff and the new single. Besides, Amy Lee said it's impossible to predict the entire album based on one song, because each song is so different.

And don't call they're new single bullshit. You don't have to like it, just say that. No need to insult it, especially for those who DO like it.

All i'm saying is you don't have to like them, but they seem to be doing SOMETHING right..

In case you want to bypass a copy protection that will let your pc crash (such as Celine Dion), you can connect your pc with your audio cd-player, provided your cd-player has a digital-out and your soundcard has a digital-in. Download a program called "Feurio" and use the 'record audio data'-option. "Total Recorder" is also able to record from line-in.

If your audio cd-player has no digital-out or your soundcard has no digital-in, you could still connect the two the analog way. Just connect the line-out cinch-plug with the line-in minijack-plug of your soundcard. Again use Feurio or Total Recorder to record incoming audio data. The disadvantage of this method is you are copying in the analog domain, your digital data is converted twice which might degrade the resulting copy. In practice an analog copy can be very good, but undoubtedly, the digital one is better! So go for the digital copy!

    Thanks, and I downloaded it.

I must say I was very disappointed. There are only a few songs I like on this album, namely "Sweet Sacrifice", "Weight Of The World", "Lithium", "Call Me When You're Sober", and "All That I'm Living For".

I relate and love "Fallen" much more than "The Open Door". Hopefully a third album from Evanescence will be much more appealing to me.

Re: D/L: Evanescence - The Open Door

Yeah, I have to say after a few listens that it's a bit too much like a band trying to sound like the first Evenesence album... kinda... songs are ok, but they sound like copies of the songs on the first album.

Amy Lee doesn't sound as angst-filled and now just kinda sounds like she's in there complaining on every track about how her back hurts.

    Production is a little flat.

I still find myself singing songs from the first album, but I can't even really remember anything on this record at all.

Glad I got it for free.
    Gentlemen.... Thank you.

Dude, you don't seem to be familiar with the Evanescence discography at all! I just hate it when people reduce Evanescence to "Fallen" and forget about the prior material.

    1. Evanescence EP (realeased 1998)
    2. Sound Asleep / Whisper EP (released 1999)
    3. Origin (released 2000)
    4. Fallen (released 2003)
    5. The Open Door (2006)

There's also numerous demos and various unreleased material available!
