I watch it, but not NEARLY enough these days!

I'm just in love with the raw style of the fights, mixed martial arts, grappling, kickboxing, its just vicious, and i cannot get enough of it. At least i know its not fake.

My favorite fighters? Sadly, i never get to watch it enough to really place names in my mind, but i'll certainly get back to you on that. I have a couple, but i can't place the name this second.

i already dislike that Cole guy who won.. even if he's cute. He acts like a prick. And i thought Penn was a classy guy.. to not even be behind your own fighter, but say "well that's his 100%" and leave him out to dry, that sucks.

I already like the other side more.

The second episode of the season showed why this season will be entertaining, but at the same time, it shows how most of those fighters act like monkeys and still act like they are in 5th grade.

And both fights so far were borefests. Totally overhyped.

I have always been on the fence about UFC, but these past couple of weeks I have really gotten into it and watching UFC 70 - Nations Collide really done me in... loving it.

Right now my favorite fighters would have to be Andrei Arlovski and Mirko Cro Cop. I like Matt Hughes a bit too... and well, Ken Shamrock has been a favorite of mine for years, mostly due to him being in the WWF (back in the day)!

You didn't see the fight from the finale of the first Ultimate Fighter... where he kicked high and fell straight on his ass... i was so embarassed for him.

He's since retired - he's a coach for the IFL.

And todays Ultimate Fighter... what is with that lil whiny guy Gabe? He was such a little bitch, and a lazy guy too!

    Re: Ultimate Fighting Championship

I absolutely cannot get my fill of MMA competition, I far and away believe it is the ultimate sport, the ultimate competition, and the ultimate taming of the human body.

I'm working toward an instructorship in a martial arts academy here in Arkansas, and even though we are not really a fight gym perse, we train Muay Thai and Brasilian Jiu-jitsu regularly (among other things) and some of our guys have really expressed an interest in training for competition since we've very recently had a local sanctioned event come to our area. Two of our guys fought in the first one they held and both won their fights, so at the moment we all eat, drink and breathe this stuff. It is an awesome way to get in shape, and is a heck of a thing to aspire to. It is also a great change of pace from the other purely combative side of the martial arts that you really just get to train in drills and such. Putting on gloves and slugging, or actually getting to roll full force on the mat is a great change of pace.

As far as the professional fighting world goes, my favorite fighter by far is Mike Swick. I believe he is extremely underappreciated, even though his Thai boxing is, in my opinion, unmatched, his use of the knee certainly is. I also like his class of fighter the best: the lean, explosive, precise, panther-like type. I just don't go for the big heavyweights, I find their fights kind of boring. I am also a huge fan of Jiu-jitsu, especially the use of the rubber guard, so I love Eddie Bravo (it's inventor) and guys who use it well, like Penn. Penn is just jaded and rich, and thinks just because he is a grappling phenom who rose to the top with just a few years training he can write everyone off, but he is still an awesome fighter. Swick though has a lot of heart and is a really honorable guy. He never gives in, never talks trash, and really genuinely loves the sport.

Not really into the Ultimate Fighter. I end up watching a bit here or there, as Spike shows it like a Million times a day, but I cannot really get off on any kind of reality show any more. The guys at our academy usually get together and go somewhere to watch the pay-per-views, though. Lot of fun.

I have just stumbled upon this and watched this one duo of midweight guys get it on. They spent much of the time with their legs wrapped around each other, and I love that they are barefoot! I will drop in from time to time to see young studs grapple.

I've become totally addicted to this thing. Fairly good-lookin' guys strip down to shorts, jump into an arena and kick the livin' bejesus out of each other!!!

Actually, Matt Wiman was one of my favorites. I didn't get hooked until recently, so I've been setting the DVR to catch it anytime it's on.

big show tonight.. free on spikeTV.. 9pm

i'm looking forward to that Bisping vs Hamill match. I'm expecting Bisping to knock out Hamill.. for the simple reason that Hamill didn't look like he could even take a punch back on TUF. If Hamill brings Bisping to the ground, then who knows.

    Re: Ultimate Fighting Championship

I can easily enjoy a fight and fighters irrespective of their attractiveness, but I must admit that the overall sexiness of the sport is what first brought me to cheggit. I'd also say that I like looking at the vast majority of fighters and only find a few that I'd consider ugly. Finally, I'm now such an overall fan that I enjoy watching fighters for their abilities alone, like Tim Silvia. I don't find him attractive AT ALL but he is a great fighter.

The heavyweight division is my least favorite yet I still think that Andre Arlovski & Frank Mir are very good fighters AND very sexy. The bottom line for this class, in most cases, is they move pretty slow but can knock you out with one punch pretty easily.

I find it difficult to choose a favorite class among the other 3. It depends a lot on the fighters, yet I must admit that the explosive power and speed of the lightweight division greatly excites me.

Here's some guys that I really enjoy watching AND that I find very sexy:

    Roger Huerta

    Vitor Belfort

    Michael Bisping

    Tito Ortiz

    Rich Franklin

    Matt Hughes

    Georges St. Pierre

    Robbie Lawler

    Jason "Mayhem" Miller

    Josh Koscheck

    Karo Parisyan

    Diego Sanchez

    Renato Verissimo

    Yves Edwards

    Hermes Franca

    Nick Diaz

    Chris Lytle

    Thiago Alves

    Josh Thompson

    Ivan Salaverry

There might be one or two that I overlooked.

I hope to revive this very interesting thread! What sayeth you guys?

I haven't seen many fights in the last year but a few of my faves are Georges St. Pierre, Diego Sanchez and Forest Griffin. I'm looking forward to catching up on all of the fights I've missed so I can speak with a bit more authority, but those are some of my faves. I hear Matt Sera had to pull out of his upcoming bout with Matt Hughes and as such has lost his title! Now the belt will be fought for between Hughes and Georges St. Pierre! I have a feeling Matt Hughes, who probably could've kicked Sera's ass, is worried about getting his own ass kicked for a SECOND time by GSP.

  28. #28

    Re: Ultimate Fighting Championship

I think there's a very good chance that Hughes will come back each time that he's beat by St. Pierre, improve upon his game and win, as each time GSP is beat, he will do the same. All factors equal, guys of this caliber just keep getting better and better, cause they have to if they wannna stay in the game. There's tons of competition out there, esp in the the lower weight classes.

Hughes is leaving very soon - and good riddance to him!

Sorry, but i HATE people that shove their religion down others' throats, and after seeing him attempt to do just that to a guy on Ultimate Fighter, i was completely disgusted - because i love him as a fighter. But i don't respect him for that.

that was quite funny actually. I can't believe no one stood up and said anything. Hugues had his whole team read a passage in the bible and tell him who he was in that passage. Quite fucking ridiculous. I would have immediately asked to go on Serra's team. Serra is quite the coach anyways.. Hugues is there for his ego.

Well, despite the fact that he's hot, maybe if he spent less time bible-thumping, and more time training...

Hell, he should just stand there looking pretty... preferrably with as little clothing as possible.

I can't believe I just discovered this thread. I so glad to find other gay MMA fans. I have been watching UFC faithfully since last April and I am obsessed.

Last night's show was incredible. Some amazing fights: Huerta/Guida, War Machine/J-Rock, Rude Boy/Hightower.

I was so glad to see Huerta pull of that amazing comeback. I have been a fan of Huerta since UFC 69, my first fight, when he and Leonard Garcia went to war. Huerta is a skilled fighter, incredibly sexy, and, by all accounts, a sweet guy with a compelling life story. The way he came back in Round 3 last night showed so much heart. The guy is a champ.

As for UFC overall, I am a also a big fan of Diego Sanchez, Josh Koscheck, Joe Stevenson, Mike Swick, GSP, Jens Pulver, Tyson Griffin, BJ Penn.

As for Hughes, I agree with the above posters (and Matt Serra) who think he is a dick. He is arrogrant, judgemental and a sore loser. I hope GSP kicks his butt and shuts his mouth Dec. 29.

I know most people can't stand Koscheck, but I kinda like him. And he is sexy as hell. You mentioned his ass, which is near perfect. But I love the whole package -- great chest, arms, legs, feet. I have this recurring fantasy of filming a porn movie starring him and Diego Sanchez fucking each other

Glad you caught the Huerta-Garcia fight on Best of 2007. That was an amazing special with some awesome fights. Hope you caught the TUF 6 Finale. The J Rock-War Machine and the Huerta-Guida were intense.

yea thats going to be one of the best seasons with rampage and griffin at the trainers position. best part will be their fight, even though im a little worried about griffin. he seems like a good guy, and hes been on a tear lately, but the way rampage mauled chuck makes me fear for forrest's wellbeing slightly. he certainly has a shot though cause rampage's last victory was less than impressive.

my personal favorite fighter though is St Pierre... hes like a prototype for how fighters SHOULD be, and theres nothing hes not good at. i hope he fucks up hughes in a few days to get his belt back.

Anyone know or remember that Drew Fickett posed for Playgirl. He has a nice thick cock, not to mention cute face.

Man, thanks for the lead about Fickett. I tracked down the pics. Very hot.

Anyone catch the fights last night? GSP killed Hughes. It was a sight to behold.

Last night was also the first time I saw Rich Clementi fight. Although he and Guillard both acted like 4th graders, he is pretty hot.

Ya, but I must admit I'm pissed at Mirko's performance since he left PRIDE and came to the U.F.C has been shit. I expected more. Then Wanderlei Silva, who used to be my favorite fighter, suffered several injuries and had to retire from competition. But yeah, I do like the U.F.C and now I'll be watching a lot more of it since PRIDE disbanded. I don't think that American fighter, like Randy Couture and Iceman are as good as the top fighters from PRIDE, like Mirko, Minotauro, etc, but we'll see.
