To Xtube or NOT to Xtube ? THAT is the question

Hey---have had a weird experience with Xtube....OK, i joined about over 2 weeks back. now...i remembered to jot down my password but forgot to note down my username.........B I G mistake ....for this is what happenes if you do this heinous crime. you put in your password and you get this message from Xtube saying to simply send them your email address you registered with and password and they'll email your username. NOT. about 5 fukin times i've sent them it and not a one reply ---and i really really liked the place, especially one of the ****** boys ...so i have been left feeling very pissed off with Xtube. for if they supposedly claim what they say then why dont they ...hey??

So anyhow, someone i told about this said--no prolem, just open up another emial account, like for instance Hotmail. but my question is this, would doing so take any memory away from my computer? i mean i had hotmail once and you get this page etc etc, and spam. so i am worried about doing it. i only would use it for Xtube, but i need to know it'd be UNintrusive. can you offer this po boy

It's a plugin for firefox, although you can use it on IE, you've just gotta leave their homepage up to do so. Basically, people make an email address, and sign up to loads of sites. They then add those login details to the BMN database, and if you search for the site in the homepage - or if you have the plugin, right click in the username box and select Login with Bugmenot - and it'll take a username and corresponding password from the database.

If you can't get in (Someone might already be using it) then it goes to the next one, and goes all the way down the list.

    Best plugin ever.

    You're right to be cautious.

Go and get the flash from Adobe, but decline any extra crap they try to make you download (unfortunately there isn't a button for "stick it up your ass").

    Then go back to X-tube.

    Best to play safe.

Don't you have any idea what Flash is? That's probably the first plugin you install on a browser because it's used to watch all those multimedia websites out there done with this program.

You can easily trust this plugin when you install it from the Adobe website.

this is what happenns when i tried to install it from Abobe site. i clicked install and a yellow bar appears abover browser window saying 'This site might require the following ActiveX control: so i click it and get three options: 1/install, and another telling me:'what's the risk' so i clcked to see and it says: 'What should I do when IE blocks the installation of an ActiveX control? You should always be cautious about allowing websites to run ActiveX controls on your computer. If an ActiveX control is not essential to your computer activity, try to avoid installing it...'WTF now???????!

My. we are a little bit full of ourselves, aren't we?

Of course the flash player from Adobe is trustworthy. But, Adobe is not trustworthy about downloading extra stuff with it - you have to make sure you only get what you want.

Plenty of so-called respectable sites are now doing the same thing, and you end up with toolbars and desktop searches coming out of your ears. Microsoft, Yahoo,
AOL (the worst offender). At least Google asks you first.

    Aye, 'tis that, lad!

Don't worry - the Yahoo toolbar isn't evil. It's just that many (most?) of us don't want stuff running around inside our computers that we didn't ask for and maybe don't even know about.

Go to the Control Panel, click on "Add or Remove Programs", twiddle your thumbs for half a minute, then see if the Yahoo thingy is listed. It should be - in which case you can uninstall it.

If it's not there, or it doesn't work, then come back and we'll think of something else.

Re: To Xtube or NOT to Xtube ? THAT is the question

You don't need IE for this (anyway, you should change that for Firefox ASAP) - just the Windows "Start" button at the bottom left. Click that, and on the right hand side (about half way) in the blue box you should see "Control Panel". Click (or double-click) that - it's a bit slow opening.

Find "Add or Remove Programs" (should be about third on the list), click that and wait for it to load. Scroll down to the bottom and look for Yahoo Toolbar (or similar name) and click uninstall. This should begin the process.
