Rippin' RealPlayer Vid. Files
Ok I wasn't sure of where to go and I searched all over the net and sadly its not helping so I'm hopin and praying someone on JUB could help me out please.
Basically I'm trying to rip, save or download this video from this site but the site only uses RealPlayer as their media player. I was wonderin' if anyone knew of any free programs that I could use to do so. Or if there was an easier way to do this, I know it is possible because I've seen some of these vids downloaded before but I'm stuck in a dilemma of finding out how. I tried downloading FireFox to download the video files but it only works for youtube, google, and flash videos. Please someone help me and thanks in advanced.

Re: Rippin' RealPlayer Vid. Files
If you're able to download the entire RealPlayer Video file then download it onto your computer, then use a encoding program like WinAVI Video Converter.

Re: Rippin' RealPlayer Vid. Files
You can download WinAVI from here http://www.winavi.com/
If your RealPlayer files are streaming then you're fucked if they are full to where you can download them then it's easy.
Yes WinAVI can convert any file, RM, AVI, MPEG, WMV, MOV, FLV to the following formats, MPEG, WMV, and AVI.
Also do you know what website that has this file?

Yeah so I can see if you're able to download the entire video without having to stream it.

Re: Rippin' RealPlayer Vid. Files
Hi,
I'm repeating some of what was already said but here's my 2c.
What I normally do is download the .rm file to my PC - right click the link and 'save as'.
Then I open the file in notepad and find the link to the ram or rbvm file or whatever and then I use Flashget to download the whole file.
Media Player Classic can play almost any media file or you could try VLC.

Re: Rippin' RealPlayer Vid. Files
Hi, I'm new here and I'm a little confused about the advice given above. What program should I use to download STREAMING real video? I've tried Hidownload, RM Downloader and MetaProducts mass downloader with no luck. I've right clicked the link and pasted the source (multiple sources) and I still can't get the vid to download.
Please help!

Re: Rippin' RealPlayer Vid. Files
If it's streaming live then you can't download it as such - you can record it using something like FRAPS.
If it's streaming from a server file then you go to the link - here's an example:
http://www.ts.vcu.edu/faq/streaming/real.html
At the bottom of that page it says:
You can right click that link and Save As to your desktop or whatever.
If you open that file with notepad you'll see this:
rtsp://video.vcu.edu/rmdowns/cabell.rm
--stop--
pnm://video.vcu.edu/rmdowns/cabell.rm
You can use a downloader like Flashget to paste an rstp or pnm link and it will download the actual media file.
So for example I copied and pasted the rstp file link into my Flashget and I've attached a screenshot of that.
You can see that the actual file is about 4meg.

Re: Rippin' RealPlayer Vid. Files
Firstly - you've right clicked/saved as/opened in notepad the web page not a ram file.
Secondly - that link you gave is useless to me cos I'm not a member however it's useful cos it shows that it's an rm file which is the actual media file (the source).
Now, I use Flashget - it can download rm files - however - if you're using a ppv (pay per view) service of sorts then you'll probably need to tell your downloader that you need to use a username and password to access that site and then you'll need to give those details to your downloader.
For example: I have a Rapidshare.de account - so I told Flashget to use a username and password when downloading files from there and it works like a charm (see attachment).
The other issue here is that they're using Cold Fusion web pages - I'm not too sure exactly how that works - maybe someone else here knows.
After that I can't do any more for ya bud

Re: Rippin' RealPlayer Vid. Files
So I should be able to paste this link into something like HiDownload or Flashget and download the file, right? Could it be possible that the website has some kind of block that doesn't allow its streaming files to be downloaded?
Also, english isn't my first language and I don't understand this at all: "If your RealPlayer files are streaming then you're fucked if they are full to where you can download them then it's easy."
