Rugby star Ben Cohen quits to fight for gay rights
what a man!!!
I'm sceptical about stories like this
You omitted a picture on purpose . He sounds like a very intelligent and thoughtful person from the quotes in the article.
And he's pretty gorgeous, so yeah...thumbs up to him. I hope his endeavors are very rewarding and successful. The youth need it.
I don't know why you feel you need to see his picture...
Hmm...the article mentioned him coming to Atlanta...
It's all kinds of sexy.
When I come to power, I plan to invest billions into cloning, so that every gay man can have their very own Ben Cohen.
This guy is so amazing! ...player of the year for the Sale Sharks this year..."As athletes, it is not enough just to have strong bodies. We must have strong characters and use our voices to support those who need and deserve it.”
Not sure if the link will work, so (from ADOVCATE.COM):
"British rugby star Ben Cohen has announced his retirement from the sport in order to devote his time to fighting homophobia and bullying through his foundation.
The Independent reports on the announcement from Cohen, 32, who was player of the year for the Sale Sharks this year.
“Cohen believes he could play for another two years but has turned down offers from clubs in England and France. Instead he will focus on heading up the Ben Cohen StandUp Foundation, which tackles bullying and homophobia,” reports The Independent.
“I have reached the top in my sport,” said Cohen in a statement on his website. “It has been an incredible journey and has put me in the privileged position I am in today to be able to work on these exciting new projects through the StandUp Brand. As athletes, it is not enough just to have strong bodies. We must have strong characters and use our voices to support those who need and deserve it.”
This week, Cohen will launch his 10-day Ben Cohen Acceptance Tour of U.S. cities to include talks, training sessions, and fund-raising events."

He's an amazing man! Best straight guy ever.
If it's possible to love him more, I do.
For all sad words of tongue and pen,
The saddest are these, 'It might have been.'
I can't believe my eyes. So the face can actually be a reflection of the soul.
I can see "halo" on top of his head
I wanna be his dog
He is so so so damn gorgeous. Plus, he's an awesome person. Currently my favorite straight guy (other than my best friend).
You'd think he was a professional swimmer looking at all the topless soaking wet photos JUBbers chose to share.
On a more serious note...
I might be a god-awful cynic here, but does anyone else ever find themselves wondering if there's a "catch" to this guy?
I think that he means this....
oh my goodness
I thought for sure he'd be gay........
Good man........Kudos to Ben.
Song for Ben.
Salt n Pepa "What a man"
Ben is so damn delicious.
I bet his wife (see below) is anxious he's no longer getting a weekly pay cheque.
I reckon this 'StandUp Foundation' is a device for him to help him change career from retired sports star to a publicity-seeking motivational speaker.
We are just a convenient tool for him to get more sponsors and product endorsement.
(He is cute.)
Rawr! Just my type
Intelligent and hot!
He could have chosen anything. I'm sure that he truly cares about this issue.
It seems this 'StandUp Foundation' has been existence for some months before this new Press Release announced it has gone gay.
I believe Britain ALREADY has other foundations which this new one will be duplicating.
These private organisations have administrative staff (Mrs Cohen??) on the pay-roll and are usually loath to disclose their bank statements to the cash donors.
Okay, I wouldn't say he doesn't care about this issue. It just seems so odd the time and energy he's putting into it. Does he have any friends/family that were personally effected by homophobic bullying or something? Could he be gay himself?
I'm not saying it's impossible for a straight guy to care this much. But holy shit, if someone told me Martin Luther King Jr. were really White (and just that concerned about civil rights), it would weird me out. That's kinda how I feel here. This is all so random.
(Though the fact that Pat Grimshaw is the only other person who feels cynical is a red flag that maybe I'm not thinking clearly)
For the record, I think the headline that he's "retiring to fight for gay rights" is misleading. His career was ending anyway. This is just what he's doing with his newfound free time.
I thought he was a porn star all this time.
Well, okay then.
"As anarchism rears its face,
They are answered by an iron fist..."
I think there's always a chance of ulterior motive. People tend to have their own agenda, whether or not you personally feel that it's 'right' or 'wrong', and that's why they pick up causes.
I would expect him to gain something out of this, if not simply personal gratification. I don't automatically assume that it's something bad because he isn't gay himself. If we were that critical of everyone that showed gays support where would we be? Is that point only being raised because he's young?
There's a difference between apprehension or caution and declaring him guilty prematurely. So far the only thing that I've seen mentioned that he has 'going against him' is that he's straight and married.
Private, tax-exempt, money-collecting organisations with a charismatic figurehead like these are fair game for corrupt staff members.
He's too pretty to be straight.
I'd blow him....
... and this is all that would be left.
I agree with Metta, you're being too cynical. You should give the guy a chance, the sports industry especially needs all the help it can get.
I say leave the cynicism for when and if he does something wrong.
As of now, he needs a standing ovation for taking this on and looking out for the LGBT community.
I'm sure he didn't have to and could have done something more lucrative or accepting or typical than speaking about LGBTs.
He is doing a world of good just by mentioning it once. Nevermind that he's not backing off and is doing all this. Maybe this is his calling.
I remember when all those teenage suicides made it onto the news. Everybody said more needed to be done. Many of those people aren't even talking about them anymore. It's yesterday's news. For a lot of the LGBT community too.
And look at that dude. He's going all out. He has my respect.
He deserves praise.
Supporting the gay community is not easy for athletes.
He's a courageous guy.
And soooo fuckable
he is super fine
What he's doing is huge no matter what, and he does deserve applause.
I just find myself wondering what more to the story we don't know. Plenty of straight folks have shown support and that's wonderful. But I can't help but feel something more could be going on here.
Good for him (and the LGBT community) either way.
Since watching a couple of his videos, I believe he is as beautiful on the inside as he is on the outside and that he is going to help many people.
What's his angle? What's in it for him? I mean... WHO does this??? I don't mean to sound negative, I think what he's doing is great... but what's his motivation? Is he really gay? Is he supporting a gay brother?
Generally speaking, doesn't one have to have some kind of vested interest in a cause that get's them involved with it?
Or are we just some bizarre "Save the Whales" GreenPeace thing to him?
AM I the only one who is wondering this???
