    Bob Dylan appreciation thread

I just wanted to start an appreciation thread for that great gay icon Bob Dylan -- the idol of screeching queens everywhere!

What drag queen can resist doing Bob?

How about those great gay anthems: Like a Rolling Stone, Hey Mr. Tambourine Man, and Blowing in the Wind, which has of course become synonymous with the act of oral sex between guys?

Mariah, Britney, Madonna, Kylie, Babs, all you gals can just go away -- you don't have a prayer when it comes to the altar of Dylan.

As the great Bob recently said in an MTV interview: "Current music? Sounds defective to me. Makes me restless."

Now watch this thread drop to the bottom of the list faster than a anvil off a cliff.

I'm not sure whether you're serious or if you're just taking the piss...

At any rate: I love Bob Dylan.

    "Forever Young" by Bob Dylan

May God bless and keep you always,
May your wishes all come true,
May you always do for others
And let others do for you.
May you build a ladder to the stars
    And climb on every rung,
    May you stay forever young,
    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

May you grow up to be righteous,
May you grow up to be true,
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you.
    May you always be courageous,
    Stand upright and be strong,
    May you stay forever young,
    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

May your hands always be busy,
May your feet always be swift,
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift.
May your heart always be joyful,
May your song always be sung,
    May you stay forever young,
    Forever young, forever young,
    May you stay forever young.

Here's a video of Patti LaBelle doing it....LOVE!

    I don't want this happens...

I'm not a big fan of Bob. I have to remedy that... By the way, i always liked Masters Of War...

And I hope that you die
    And your death'll come soon
    I will follow your casket
    In the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
    Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand o'er your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

    Re: Bob Dylan appreciation thread

I'm a huge fan of 60's folk music. Bob Dylan is really the glue that held it all together and seemed to be the conscience that guided it. What I love about him is that he doesn't care about fame or have any real vested interest in his opinions. He justs puts his ideas and music out there and moves on.

I learned to play guitar in grade school in the late 60s and used a Peter, Paul and Mary songbook to practice from. That one little book had Blowin' in the Wind, Don't Think Twice, When the Ship Comes In, in it. So I learned Dylan's name in grade school and learned to really appreciate his mastery with words and simple tunes.

I'm actually quite the PP&M fan to date and here they are performing his Times They are a Changing at the Newport Folk Festival in 1964.

So anyone notice how similar Bobs looks to Babs? No one would ever see them together -- shit, I doubt anyone would associate them together in the same thought.
Still, their singing styles are so diametrically opposed -- could they actually be the same person?

Wouldn't that mean that James Brolin is gay?

Uh, not to start any rumors.

This is a great performance of one of his best songs - also very gay lol

Ballad of A Thin Man - written by Bob Dylan

    You walk into the room
With your pencil in your hand
    You see somebody naked
And you say, who is that man?
    You try so hard
    But you dont understand
    Just what youll say
    When you get home

    Because something is happening here
But you dont know what it is
    Do you, mister jones?

    You raise up your head
And you ask, is this where it is?
And somebody points to you and says
    Its his
    And you say, whats mine?
And somebody else says, where what is?
And you say, oh my god
    Am I here all alone?

    Because something is happening here
But you dont know what it is
    Do you, mister jones?

    You hand in your ticket
And you go watch the geek
Who immediately walks up to you
    When he hears you speak
And says, how does it feel
    To be such a freak?
    And you say, impossible
As he hands you a bone

    Because something is happening here
But you dont know what it is
    Do you, mister jones?

    You have many contacts
    Among the lumberjacks
    To get you facts
    When someone attacks your imagination
    But nobody has any respect
    Anyway they already expect you
    To just give a check
    To tax-deductible charity organizations

    Youve been with the professors
And theyve all liked your looks
    With great lawyers you have
    Discussed lepers and crooks
    Youve been through all of
    F. scott fitzgeralds books
    Youre very well read
    Its well known

    Because something is happening here
But you dont know what it is
    Do you, mister jones?

Well, the sword swallower, he comes up to you
    And then he kneels
    He crosses himself
And then he clicks his high heels
    And without further notice
He asks you how it feels
And he says, here is your throat back
    Thanks for the loan

    Because something is happening here
But you dont know what it is
    Do you, mister jones?

Now you see this one-eyed midget
    Shouting the word now
And you say, for what reason?
    And he says, how?
And you say, what does this mean?
And he screams back, youre a cow
    Give me some milk
    Or else go home

    Because something is happening here
But you dont know what it is
    Do you, mister jones?

Well, you walk into the room
Like a camel and then you frown
You put your eyes in your pocket
And your nose on the ground
There ought to be a law
    Against you comin around
    You should be made
    To wear earphones

    Because something is happening here
But you dont know what it is
    Do you, mister jones?

Well of course Dylan was known to notoriously frequent bath houses in Greenwich Village back in the day. The song makes that very plain.
