"The United Sates will hunt down those responsible for these cowardly acts."

Yeah whatever...what did Bush say in the last election?...something like he doesn't think much about Bin Laden, he isn't concerned with him anymore.

    Nice, Huh?

Oh, By The Way, I Am Not For The War.
Me neither, but what does the war in Iraq have to do with 9-11? So far as I know, and as Bush herself was forced to admit, Iraq had nothing to do with the attacks of 11 Sept 01.

None of this Yellow Ribbon Republican propaganda would exist had George WTC Bush done his God damned job in August 2001. I'm sick to death of those cowards whoring 9-11. The only photo montage I want to see is that of Bush being paraded before a war crimes tribunal and paying the price for his slaughtering of 100,000 Iraqis (who, BTW, had zero, nada, nothing to do with bin-Laden, or the attacks on 9-11).

The war in Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11.

The fact that Bush tried to tie it to 9/11 was idiocy. What Iraq was supposed to do was prevent another 9/11. Had this been the clearly stated goal from the start, Bush could have actually sold this to the American public & the world. Assuming of course that once we obliterated Iraq's capability of making or importing WMD's, we left - which of course did not happen. Now we've got ourselves in such a pickle that we can't effectively withdraw without that being seen as a sign of weakness and defeat.

That's an interesting video, our resident propaganda expert should love it. It does make me wonder what purpose jingoism serves, after all, in the wake of 9/11 we all indulged in a bit of jingoism. A flag in the windshield, a pin in the lapel, seemed to help a little. We were angry and bitter and the song writer, the makers of that video and the Bushies knew how to exploit our feelings.

It is ironic that the Bushies who knew how to exploit American bitterness to 9/11 wouldn't expect the Shiites to be bitter about suffering under the Sunnis, or the Sunnis to be bitter about losing power, or the Kurds to be bitter about suffering under both of them, or the Arabs generally to be bitter about Americans making war on their soil.

I don't think that there is anything left to win in Iraq, it will be a disaster no matter what happens, there can't be any success. All that remains is to find a way out.

When the Twin Towers fell on 9/11, and our country was more UNITED than it had ever been in my memory, Lee Greenwood came out with this song:

    Proud to be American

Music and Lyrics by Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone Iíd worked for all my life,
And I had to start again with just my children and my wife.
Iíd thank my lucky stars to be living here today,
ĎCause the flag still stands for freedom and they canít take that away.

And Iím proud to be an American where as least I know Iím free.
And I wonít forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And Iíd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
ĎCause there ainít no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee,
across the plains of Texas, from sea to shining sea,

From Detroit down to Houston and New York to LA,
Well, thereís pride in every American heart,
and itís time to stand and say:

Iím proud to be an American where at least I know Iím free.
And I wonít forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And Iíd gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today.
ĎCause there ainít no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A

NOW, whenever I see a group of "soriety sisters" waving the American flag, and hugging each other each time this song is played, and they hop into thier Mom's Cadillac Escalade with the Yellow Rainbow magnets attached, I want to barf my frigging guts up!

Here in Texas, when ever George Bush's Lt. Governor (while GW was the gov of Texas) is asked a pointed question about Texas; No Child Left Behind (many), Child Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the fact that 100% of Texas Parks and Wildlife fees are dumped into the general fund, where only 38% makes it back to our State Parks (Perry is now advocating selling off our park land because they're in such "dis-repair") Perry looks into the camera and say:

I'M PROUD TO BE A TEXAN AREN'T YOU?

Yep...and that's why I'm going to to everything in my power to make sure that come this November his panzie ass will no longer be sleeping in the Governor's Mansion.

I feel the same way about Bush and his Administration.

I'm so proud to be an American, that they're no longer worthy of representing me as an American.
Never regret anything, because in that moment it's exactly what you wanted.

Surely centex, surely you're pulling a "Bush" and exaggerating, aren't you? Does Sister WOEman Perry REALLY REALLY say that? And where will that queen go for casual man-on-goat love-thang relationships if your parks are sold? Perry! She's Too Much!

why so much hate? for me the video and the song brought a tear to my eye. but everyone has a right to their own feelings. too bad it has to bring out so much bitterness.

    Sorry billysam.

    No hate.

    No bitterness.

For me it's dissappointement, and sadness for oppurtunities lost.

As Americans we can do better than what our current leadership (or lack thereof) has done since 9/11.

I don't need a video on YouTube to bring me to tears.

Just turn off the audio and replay the planes hitting the Twin Towers, and knowing what has become of our country since then that brings me to tears.

As I've stated in this forum before, a friend of mine was a passenger on Flight 11 that hit the North Tower...he was on his way back home to his wife and three kids in L.A. after...of all things a World Peace Conference in Boston.

And two friends who worked in both the North and South towers respectively.

Thier lives have been politicized to divide this country, not UNITE it. IMHO.

Never regret anything, because in that moment it's exactly what you wanted.

Billysam, perhaps if you had framed your first post with a point of view - or something besides merely a link you would have had better luck. Just dropping a link into a post alone does not make for a good thread.

    Better luck next time!
