    Re: Gay Movies

Brokeback mountain was....meh...for me, maybe it's just me but I prefer gay films that don't revolve around a huge budget and that I can warm to more, especially when they don't have actors who have been in a lot of films I've seen already otherwise like with Brokeback I jus thought "It's Donnie in a cowboy hat" as Donnie Darko's one of my favourite movie's whcih i've seen many times. Brokeback was amazingly overrated for me and my boyfriend.

    Re: Gay Movies

i didn't get what all the hype was about 'brokeback' either.. it wasn't the budget or actors that bothered me, but just the same ol' storyline again. i think alot of gay men are just grateful to see any movies depicting gay characters, but i personally hate most of the sappy 'gay' themed movies out there..

I don't wanna resume this BBM-discussion once again. Everybody's got their own opinion and I think that's just alright!

But from my point of view Brokeback is great because it's so honest and deeply human. It's not one of those tacky Gay-Pride-movies that I really can't stand!

I just felt like I had to say that!
    (I'm feelin' much better now.)

    Re: Gay Movies

That's cool its just personally for me "Latter Days" is a more emotional and beautiful "non-tacky gay pride movie" the relationship in the movie is what brings me and my partner back to watching it again and again, the characters are likable and relatable and thats what I like about it.

That's my 2 cents anyway lol but like I said its cool if you like BBM (I've called it "Bareback Mountain" so many times by mistake lol!) its just my opinion that I prefer other lower key gay films.

Exactly, I have no idea. Surely we should be applauding films that spread the gay pride message rather than ridiculing them?

I've also watched Latter Days and I liked it. I also think that it is a very emotional movie!

When I said 'tacky Gay-Pride-movie' I meant those movies that are full of stereotypes about gay people, which are only supposed to entertain, for example by showing them as flashily-dressed, effeminate sissies.
My problem is just that I know people who think that all gays are like that in reality and that those movies are a reflection of reality.

BBM is great late twentieth century American Literature that didn't exactly translate into great cinema. I guess a gay movie is one that sleeps with its own gender.

I've got a list on IMDB of every gay themed movie I've seen and found interesting on some level. Here it is if you're interested:
    http://www.imdb.com/mymovies/list?l=19667765&f=all
It's ranked by IMDB rating, which can be somewhat helpful.

Relax...It's Just Sex; Finding North; Presque Rien (Come Undone); Fluffer; Angels In America (mini series); Love!, Valour!, Compassion!; La Mala Educacion (Bad Education).

The first gay film I saw (which made me realise I was gay) was Derek Jarman's Sebastiane. I would say it was pretty daring (it was released in the 70s) with it's full-frontal male nudity and rather disturbing orgy scene at the start. The scene with the two male lovers in the rock pool was very erotic.

I agree. I think all are in agreement with this movie.

    I loved..... Threshshold of Seventeen.

Fantasma.... en espanol, English subtitles; VERY GRAPHIC with a HOT LEAD ACTOR!

I don't know if Jarman's EDWARD 11 would fit this category, but it's a must see film on England's homosexual monarch of c. the 13th century. BRUTALLY GRAPHIC, based on the Marlowe's classic play.

    Others:

    Angels in America,
    Beefcake
    Head-On ( Greek )
    Mandragora

The Staircase ( Richard Burton....... old )

The Children's Hour ( 1962 ) received as a gift from Lilian Hellman's play ( Audrey Hepburn, Shirley Maclaine....... I loved it )

Love, Valor, Compassion won a Tony as Best Dramatic Play but did not do much as a movie though it is so sensitive and I cherish the film.

    My Beautiful Laundrette

The Boys in the Band ( old )

Midnight Express........ and the only X rated film to win Oscar as Mest Movie,
    Midnight Cowboy

    Orlando

    Threshold of Seventeen

Gay version/ all male cast of SWAN LAKE!

Torch Song Trilogy ( Tony Award Winner as Best Drama )

    Caged

    About Peter

NOT " WHEN WE WERE YOUNG AND GAY. " When lent to me by a friend, I was expecting, well you know what.......... it's a biography Of Cornelia Otis Skinner

HELP: The Australian film in which Russell Crowe plays a gay man who has a wonderful friendship with his father........ the title won't come to me, but it is definitely worth seeing.

ROPE ( Alfred Hitchcock......... superb; based on a true incident )

Sunday, Bloody, Sunday ( Glenda Jackson, Peter Finch, Murray Head ) one of the most intelligent, well written films.

Oh and one other thing, Peto ..... Head On is an Australian movie (not Greek) starring hunky Greek-Australian actor, Alex Dimitriades. Excellent movie, too .... not sure how widely released it was in other countries, though.

I was about to say the same thing about Head On.

Rope as a play is better than the film (even though it's Hitchcock) as they toned down the gay element. The play opens with three naked men all entwined with each other.

It's quite confronting actually, but an excellent movie. There's a really hot scene at the start where Alex is jerking off in his bedroom. No full frontal cum shots, unfortunately, but the camera does do a slow closeup pan over the rest of his body while he's jerking off and then closes in on his face as he is climaxing .... totally hot! After that, you then get to see his yummy large, limp dick as he lies back, totally spent!

I remember reading somewhere that when they were filming that scene, Alex actually did jerk off to ejaculation point for the camera, for authenticity's sake! He is quite the Greek God and the movie is worth seeing just to feast your eyes on him alone! ......

Daring? Err.. Beautiful Thing just showed us butt shot of the Scott Neal. In Get Real, we get another butt shot of the atheletic guy. Can't remember any nude shots of Just A Question of Love. There's no kissing at all in 24 Day, but good enough to see James Marsden and Scott Speedman together. The part their lips almost kissed, I felt heatie.. James Marsden did kiss in Heights. with Jesse Bradford. Grande Ecole offered many frontal nudes of the water polo players in shower, as well as nudes of the other actors.

    Nothing from James Marsden.

If you want 'daring', then I suggest you look at O Fantasma - for a clear scene of a blowjob. Or Taxi Zum Klo - where there was a scene of glory hole, as well as real gay sex scenes.

I just watched last night Travelling to Olympia, where the actors showed clear hard-ons.

Hot steamy scenes between cute actors in Latter Days, although there is no clear frontal nude, but a lot.. I really mean a lot of skin.

Try to catch Kevin Zeger's butts shots in Transamerica. If you search around, you can find a clip of Kevin Zeger (Airbud fame) dick.

Catch Christian Bale (Batman Begins) in homoerotic American Psycho. A good offer of skin.

Try uncensored Eating Out - where there is the charming Ryan Carnes.

If you want to see Ryan Reynolds in a character thinking that he is a gay, then catch Buying The Cow, where you can catch his frontal jewel, and his nice ass.

But if you want just nice stories, then try Farewell My Concubine, The Wedding Banquet, His Secret Life, Edge of 17, The Rice Rhapsody, Nico And dani, Touch Of Pink etc.

    Happy watching.

One last question...did James Marsden show anything in his movies?

Daring?
