What is your favorite Gay themed Movie? Other than Eating Out, so many people rave about that one. I just joined a new DVD club and wanna know which ones to buy or add to my collection.

We should not forget to mention Philadelphia and Brokeback Mountain, which are absolutely brilliant movies!

Brokeback mountain was....meh...for me, maybe it's just me but I prefer gay films that don't revolve around a huge budget and that I can warm to more, especially when they don't have actors who have been in a lot of films I've seen already otherwise like with Brokeback I jus thought "It's Donnie in a cowboy hat" as Donnie Darko's one of my favourite movie's whcih i've seen many times. Brokeback was amazingly overrated for me and my boyfriend.

i didn't get what all the hype was about 'brokeback' either.. it wasn't the budget or actors that bothered me, but just the same ol' storyline again. i think alot of gay men are just grateful to see any movies depicting gay characters, but i personally hate most of the sappy 'gay' themed movies out there..

I don't wanna resume this BBM-discussion once again. Everybody's got their own opinion and I think that's just alright!

But from my point of view Brokeback is great because it's so honest and deeply human. It's not one of those tacky Gay-Pride-movies that I really can't stand!

I just felt like I had to say that!

That's cool its just personally for me "Latter Days" is a more emotional and beautiful "non-tacky gay pride movie" the relationship in the movie is what brings me and my partner back to watching it again and again, the characters are likable and relatable and thats what I like about it.

That's my 2 cents anyway lol but like I said its cool if you like BBM (I've called it "Bareback Mountain" so many times by mistake lol!) its just my opinion that I prefer other lower key gay films.

I've also watched Latter Days and I liked it. I also think that it is a very emotional movie!

When I said 'tacky Gay-Pride-movie' I meant those movies that are full of stereotypes about gay people, which are only supposed to entertain, for example by showing them as flashily-dressed, effeminate sissies.
My problem is just that I know people who think that all gays are like that in reality and that those movies are a reflection of reality.

BBM is great late twentieth century American Literature that didn't exactly translate into great cinema. I guess a gay movie is one that sleeps with its own gender.
