jerk born in the 19th century had an american terror dream
Lemnitzer approved the plans known as Northwoods in 1962; a proposed (and rejected) plan to discredit the Castro regime and create support for military action against Cuba by staging false flag acts of terrorism.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyman_Lemnitzer
Lemnitzer retired from the military in July 1969. In 1975, President Ford appointed Lemnitzer to the Commission on CIA Activities within the United States (aka the Rockefeller Commission) to investigate whether the Central Intelligence Agency had committed acts that violated American laws.
Lemnitzer died on November 12, 1988 and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery. His wife, Katherine Tryon Lemnitzer (1901-1994), is buried with him.

Excellent post, Holland! Thank you for bringing this to the attention of this forum. I suspect that some of the recent airline "terrorist attacks" are false flags. When there is an airline "terrorist attack" in the United States, Bush's approval level spikes. The recent ones have turned out to be false.

A) Could you possibly mean the Twentieth Century? As in the 1900s?
B) Other than a vague mention from Wikipedia, do you have any credible sources for this story? Wikipedia is not a credible source.
C) Participants in CE&P are expected to add coherent comments and opinions to their posts from which others may further the conversation. Calling former President Ford a "schmuck" is neither coherent nor appropriate.

I write research development papers for a major university institute in the United States. I don't use Wikepedia as a major source in my annotated bibliographies, but I find it a little offensive when one says that something is not a credible source just because it was not pulled from the library at Harvard, Cambridge or Oxford. The information which Wikepedia gave is the exact same information which the following two sources gave.
Being in the academic world, I laugh madly at the tabloids, but there are times when even The National Enquirer or The Daily Sun are credible in their reports.

The point is, crlcxll, that anyone can write whatever they want for Wikipedia. That, in itself, makes it highly suspect at every occasion. The National Enquirer is absolute rubbish 99.998% of the time and everyone knows it. Neither of these entities have ever been viewed as credible sources by any respectable person I know.

Re: jerk born in the 19th century had an american terror dream
My point is that what was written in Wikepedia regarding Northwoods was the same information which ABC News reported and what was reported in the book published by Doubleday Publishers re Northwoods. It is the responsibllity of readers to sort out what is credible and what is not; and yes, the writer/journalist must also establish himself as credible also.
This fourm is hardly a Think Tank composed of high-ranking academics who work within the forum of higher education and academic and scientific research. I happen to work within that realm but don't really consider myself an expert on all topics and don't believe that I would be recruited for a Think Tank (I am way too smart
hehe! ). There are, however, quite a few here who like to believe that there is only one way to view anything and are unwilling to entertain other options because it would have them suspend their own belief systems and become uneasy with the way in which they live their lives.
Of course, The National Enquirer is rubbish! My comment was that it has at times reported some very credible news. If I really wished to get the "low-down and dirty" on someone, I would probably hire a reporter from that particular tabloid. Having had a brief stint in the media, it is interesting to note that there have been times when the tabloids have reported something which was then followed by The London Times, The Los Angeles Times, The New York Times, et. al.--the tabloid having reported it first.
