I need to know more about this.I followed the case pretty well...and like you...I always thought the father was the killer...and got away with it because of shabby police work.Interesting...to say the least.I hope this turned out to be on target...and they caught the right bastard that did this.

Man held in death of JonBenet Ramsey

A man arrested in Thailand is being held in connection with the slaying of JonBenet Ramsey, U.S. law enforcement officials said Wednesday.

Federal officials familiar with the case, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the man was being held in Bangkok on unrelated sex charges.

The girl was found beaten and strangled in the basement of the family's home in Boulder, Colo., on Dec. 26, 1996.

Law enforcement officials from Boulder were flying to Bangkok to present Thai authorities with documents in the slaying of the 6-year-old beauty pageant contestant, officials in Washington said. They asked to remain anonymous pending an announcement in Colorado.

The girl's parents, Patsy and John Ramsey, had been under an "umbrella of suspicion" in JonBenet's death. The Ramseys said an intruder killed their daughter. A grand jury investigation in Boulder ended with no indictments, and no arrests had been made in the case.

Patsy Ramsey died in July.

In 2003, U.S. District Judge Julie Carnes in Atlanta concluded that the evidence she reviewed suggested an intruder killed JonBenet. That opinion came with the judge's decision to dismiss a libel and slander lawsuit against the Ramseys by a freelance journalist, who the Ramseys had named as a suspect in their daughter's murder. The Boulder district attorney at the time said she agreed with Carnes' declaration.

I just can't believe how she could die like that given the layout of her family home. As I remember it, her room was just a few feet away from her parents' room. What parent wouldn't be woken in a quiet house in the middle of the night by the slightest of sounds coming from their child's room?

i so hope they caught him with a 12 year old. cause like, even though it's legal there, as an american citizen, it'd be illegal for him to fuck a 12 year old. and, from what i hear, child molestors aren't well liked at all by prison inmates, and they beat them down and rape them. that's the only time i believe rape is justified - when a child molestor is in prison and the others find out.

well, the comment about this suspect perhaps raping 7 year olds would be in response to his being a second grade level teacher. the students in that grade level usually aren't 12.

as for the rest? its someone awfully familiar with John Ramsey's business (even if casually exposed to it - like over drinks with the man) since it seems that (previously unknown) details in that ransom note are what this guy is revealing.

but you still need someone inside that house on Christmas night raping, beating, killing and dragging the child around in the dark without any problems or detection.

And lest we forget: it was the father, John Ramsey, who found the body after a (however admittedly crappy) police search.

The former FBI agent hired by the Ramsey's said that he knew four days after coming on the case that it was done by an intruder, that it did not look like a crime committed by a family member, and that the Boulder Detective in charge of the case did not know how to investigate a homicide. (He was on Blitzer today and will probably be on the News shows again)

All that I am suggesting is that there is good reason to believe that the parents are innocent and it would be (and should have been) prudent to wait and see what the facts are. Put the ropes away, there is a good reason we have trials in this country.

The name is John Mark Karr. He was a registered sex offender, picked up on another charge in Bangkok and admitted to the Ramsey murder because he had been being investigated. Why is it that people seem to want to "pin the blame" on someone when they have no evidence at all. Let the system at least try to do its work. "Thinking" that the parents are guilty or that the father "looks" guilty. How ridiculous can that be. All of this cowboy mentality, shoot and then ask questions later, hang them at high noon shows no insight into a case of which none of you know anything about. I know nothing about it. I was not there. Neither were you.

We don't know who was there. The point is that the public tends to take sides in these high-profile trials behaving as if they "think" they know something. Karr was arrested. That does not mean that he is guilty, the mear idea of continuing to point fingers at the Ramseys or anyone else for that matter is ludicrus. The Karr suspect apparently admitted to the murder; however, that in itself does not mean that he is guilty.

Now, as Iman or someone on the board said: "Put away the ropes" and let it go! This is just one of the many reasons that the justice system in the United States so often gets sidetracked. The United States has incarcerated more innoncent people than any other industrialised nation on the globe--only later to have to reverse the charges and release them.

I've viewed several cases in my old law class where "suspects" have admitted killing famous unsolved murders, and they were proven innocent, or they were completely bull shitting people. Plus there's people who admit to crimes they never comitted all the time.

I'm very skeptic about this admission and I think the extradition theory is highly plausable in this case.

I mean all the evidence didn't point to the parents at first for no reason.

It's hard to tell whether this is the conclusion of the case, or is merely another peculiar twist in something which has been peculiar since it began.

He seems to have confessed ... to something ... but people who are delusional in one manner or another have been confessing to things they didn't do since the beginning of time.

There are scattered hints that he 'knows' things which are not common, public knowledge regarding the case ... and he's been 'researching the case' (whatever that may mean) for years, according to the reports. And he's also been corresponding with people who likely had inside knowledge, including the documentary maker, and Patsy Ramsey, according to one story I saw.

He claims to have been there ... yet his ex-wife claims he was in Alabama (I believe it was) at the time.

So who knows where this is going to go?

I've only watched one brief clip of him in custody in Thailand. Admittedly, just seeing a complete stranger on a news clip for a minute or two doesn't give one much with which to sum up a character. My impression, I am afraid, was one of dissonance betwwen the way he presented himself and the crime it is alleged he did and/or to which he has confessed. He didn't seem like the 'little girl' type. Now, if the story had been about his arrest for 'interfering' (to use an old euphemism) with a bunch of Boy Scouts, it would have seemed believable. But appearances can be deceiving, I guess.

So, what happens when he is extradited back to the US and his DNA does not match that found on the child's clothes? I saw his TV appearances and thought, "Nah, he is making this up." Maybe he found out what Thai gaols were like and decided a confession would be a free ticket out of the Thai gaol, and home to the US where he would probably would not even be charged. (Having been raised in Thailand, I know a little about Thai jails and the conditions therein - I would plead guilty to being Jack the Ripper rather than spend time in a Thai prison!)

But as is also a piece of this puzzle (besides the DNA results yet to come in) its also said that this guy had to have been GONE much of Christmas week 96 in order to be in Boulder, Colorado before Christmas in order to learn anything (let alone detail) of John Ramsey's Christmas bonus. He had to learn the lay out of the neighborhood, the house, learn the floor pattern, know what the family's plans were for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, for the following day ...

And he would have had to be gone from his wife and his own (three?) kids at and on Christmas in order to accomplish it all. His kids wouldn't know that was "the Christmas without daddy" (an ABC Afterschool Special)?

But what he may also have needed to know was that the Ramseys were planning to leave that morning (the 26th) for their vacation house in Georgia.

Convenient if nothing else she was murdered around midnight or so on the 26th hours before leaving on that trip.

I mean, technically, he could have "missed" the family completely had he arrived on the 26th.

And yet he also didn't murder her on the 22nd of Dec.

Most SIX year olds are on Christmas vacation and at home by, like, Dec 20th? or so.

So why wait to then kill her not on Christmas Eve? But on Christmas night (CONVENIENTLY before this trip).

Coincidence has him doing and knowing a great deal.

And yet, as we know, traveling to Boulder at Christmas time isnt necessarily easy.

If he drove, he would have had to have left his family even earlier and been missed all the more. Its a 2? 3? day drive from Alabama to Colorado (and that's barring any snow one finds in the Rocky Mountains at Christmas).

Or he needed a plane ticket which should have been found. And how does one miss a person flying at the height of the holiday travel rush? in 1996? how many flight delays were there if nothing else? Wasn't there even a year back when the flight attendants screwed everyone by going on strike at the holidays? Not that it was 96 but you get my point.

And he's going to kidnap her? But then he loves her? But then its an "accident"? But then she was brutally, violently raped and her skull cracked?
My whole problem with THAT is that if he wrote the note then he killed her (even by accident)...WHY LEAVE THE NOTE behind? why leave any additional evidence and clues when OOPS you killed her.

Or if he killed her first, what would prompt such a person to then write a fake ransom note?

It doesn't seem right. He would have either left no note or taken the note he wrote and dumped it.

instead he kills her puts her body in the house (knowing it would be found - although how HE found that little basement room is more interesting). He leaves a ransom note in a house where he knows the body will be found?

another problem: he kills her in the bedroom (it would appear) but then doesn't just leave her there in her bedroom? Why not? What does he care who finds her? And if the person who killed her clearly loved her as experts assert based on how her body was handled after death, isn't it more loving to leave her in her own bed and not shoved into a little basement room?
And then he has to get BACK to Alabama, his wife and three? kids in time where no one recalls him missing for a Christmas.

And THEN someone gave JonBenet pineapple and someone found the body.
Not that he should direct the investigation but when cops went down to the basement and didn't find anything the first time , did John Ramsey mention a hidden room down there to them?

Yet after they left, HE decides to what? Retrace the police steps and he finds the body in the hidden room.
