I myself usually rock out the summer blockbusters. i love them but this year, ive been way too busy. I did catch MI3 and actually thought it was better than i expected. Tom has created such a circus around himself that it does bleed into his work. But MI3 had a good pace, good side characters and fun relentless action.
then i saw x3. So it looked like they tried to squeeze together 3 movie plotlines into one. Either of them would have made a satisfying movie if fleshed out but together, it was a mess. I HATED certain plot points that they used and TOO MANY of the characters were completley untrue to their character. You can write a plot how you want it, but do not rewrite the motives and behavior of a character thats been established in 2 previous movies and more so in decades of lore. thumbs down. BUT.. the action scenes were phenomenal and blew the past 2 movies out of the water.
Nacho Libre- I had to hang out with this 17 year old. I wanted to see something else, anything else. He wanted to see this. He won. I liked School of Rock and this was directed by Napoleon Dynamite helmer so I gave in. God I was so miserable. even Jack Black didn't save this for me. Then i remembered, oh shit- i didn't like Napoleon Dynamite except for the dancing scene. crap.
Lady in the water- Bryce dallas howard looks like sissy spacek. Everybody's reactions to the plot as it progresses is stupid. If I lived in that apartment complex and that guy knocked on my door and said, blah blah blah, fantastical creature, water, evil dog thing, blah blah, prophecy, flying eagle, blah blah, you are the keymaster or guild, blah blah, come downstairs and help. I would have asked him what he was smoking, could i buy some, and kick him the hell out. loser.
How depressing that thats it. On my list is still Pirates, Superman, Miami Vice, and actually Da Vinci Code. god i hate working. i want a vacation, for a couple years.
