Yeah, JSA is by far my favorite DC team comic. Some of the previews for the coming year (issue 1) have me drooling and wishing for a time machine. I like the Starman they've brought in and am hoping some of the storylines from Manhunter involving Todd are continued here. I'm curious about some of the comments dropped in issue 1 regarding him. In Manhunter, he was dating someone and was in human form. IN JSA, he was in full shadow and there was a comment about him not getting out...

WW is up there as my favorite hero comic, but all the delays have hurt my straight crushin'.

JLA is okay, but I'm not sure about the whole stretching the storyline out. C'mon 7 issues before we find out who the real line-up is? The art is great, but Metzer leaves some things to be desired.

And I heard a rumor that the Starman in this JSA may be the one we saw in Kingdom Come...

I'm really, really disappointed with the WW delays as well. There really is no excuse for that.

Your gripe with JLA is well founded. It was the same gripe I have had with Moon Knight. I can appreciate a certain dramatic build up, but come on! Get with it already!

I've heard that rumor about Starman as well. His story is supposed to happen this first year.

I'm also looking forward to the WWIII one shots and the Amazons Attack mini. Both look to be very interesting.

the rumor could be true since the last page on #2 showed Starman and a Kingdom Come background. Someplace that was blown to Kingdom Come. could be a hint i suppose.

I thought so too. I was going to mention it, but I wanted to let it be a subtle surprise to anyone else who might not have seen it. We'll just keep this one between us faithful readers.

Fascinating! It would be really nice to see them keep that aspect of the characters intact.

Side Bar: Tomorrow Marvel releases the animated Iron Man movie. I can already hear luminum's reaction.

A Dr. Strange feature? I must have missed that one. I've always been fascinated by that character.

What about the coming Ghost Rider movie?

I have to admit it is very low on my radar. I think it's because of my dislike for Nicholas Cage.

    Thoughts?

Well, I guess falling off the mainstream might give the film a shot. It worked for Blade.

As for Cage, besides my dislike I just think he's too old for the Johnny Blaze character. I see that character to be half his age!

I'm cautiously optimistic for the FF movie. I too didn't care that much for the first one. Well, except for Chris Evans. I was fairly drooling al over myself whenever he was on the screen. Especially those shirtless ones.

However the teaser (and a helluva teaser it was) really impressed me.

I mean the original Trailer for the first FF movie is what turned me off the film, however when I saw it I couldn't help but realise how bad it was.

Although I guess you have to remember the Fantastic Four have always been a little campy.
The teaser for FF2? Yeah, that's why I'm cautiously optimistic. It looked really, really good!

And yeah, the FF has always been a little campy. I think it comes from its 'gee-whiz' sci-fi roots. I have to admit though, I haven't read an FF comic since the early 80's when John Byrne was weaving his magic. I wonder what it's like now?

No, Sue left Valeria and Franklin in the care of reed while she went underground, writing that she hoped he would show them the love and attention he repeatedly neglected to give them in stead of his work.

Once a tool, always a tool, I say for Tony.

If Marvel animated Young Avengers (which is making me orgasm to death) and made Wiccan and Hulkling straight, Marvelc ould never explain their way out of it. It'd be walking into shame, which would be a poor choice on their parts. Like, what were they thinking? If they can't do it the way the characters are, in an important way that they are that they need to change it, then they shouldn't try. It only dishonors what's there and what's been established.

So either they won't even address it, or they might do the risky and right thing and make them gay like they are.

    Re: Comics!

I just have to say this about Nicholas Cage... the bastard has been trying to whore himself out to EVERY comic based movie thats been created.... It wouldn't surprise me if he tried to audition for Blade or Black Panther... I think Marvel and Fox felt sorry for the old bastard and gave him the role in GR for pitys sake.... I think Marvel realizes that GR is probably going to be another Elektra or Punisher but what the hell throw it out and see if it generates more revenue in comics boosting...

I am greatly anticipating the new FF movie... I seriously had no problems with the first one... Then again when it comes to comic based movies I came to the realization long ago that they could never hold a candle to the source material they were just fun to watch and tend to give them more slack....

I have a question for all you other nerds out there... Rank your faves to least faves for both major companies...each separately...

    Marvel
    1) Spiderman 2
    2) X-2
    3) Spiderman
    4) X-3
    5) X-Men
    6) Fantastic Four
    7) Daredevil
    8 ) Punisher (2005)
    9) Blade 3
    10) Elektra
    11) Hulk
    12) Blade
    13) Blade 2

    DC
    1) V for Vendetta
    2) Batman Begins
    3) Batman
    4) Batman Returns
    5) Superman (1978 )
    6) Superman 2
    7) Superman 3
    8 ) Superman Returns
    9) Superman 4
    10) Batman Forever
    11) Batman and Robin
All we want is a headrush, all we want is to get out of our skins for a while.

    Re: Comics!

V for Vendetta, the movie, sucks. They tried to be faithful, but I think they didn't understand the book or the spirit of it and totally ruined it when they began 'adapting'....

Superman Returns was utter rubbish. In scriptwriting you're warned to write as little lines as possible for young characters, because you only find one Dakota Fanning once in a blue moon, and most children are bad actors. Have you noticed that Superman rarely speaks in the movie? He was cast for his looks, not his skills and it shows. I even felt like he was a supporting character in the movie.

X-MEN 3, however, made me salivate...lol Intense, crazy, wild! Awesome! Had a message and loads of fun to go with it.

Here's my comic book nerd movie list. I only ranked the ones I really liked. If they're not on my list then they were either "Meh" or just plain crap.

    Marvel Comics...
    X2
    Spider-Man2
    Spider-Man
    X-Men
    Punisher (2005)

    DC Comics...
Batman Begins (which if I ranked comic books movies would be my number 1 outright)
    Superman: The Motion Picture
    V for Vendetta
    Batman
    Batman Returns

I just love raining on people's parades.

Check out IGN Comics' feature on the next straight-to-DVD stuff that Marvel is gonna be spitting out. It ain't gonna be 'Young Avengers', it's gonna be 'Teen Avengers' (a brand new team - - they must be taking after the X-Men now considering there are gonna be three Avenger line ups after Civil War, four if you count this).

So no Hulking and Wiccan for anyone. Which probably is the safest way for Marvel to avoid the great right since they do plan on marketing the show to kids, and not everyone may be overtly happy at two male superheroes doing the whoopee.

    Tony is hot.

    Marvel:
    1.) X-Men 2
    2.) Spider-Man
    3.) Spider-Man 2
    4.) X-Men

    DC:
    1.) Batman Begins
    2.) Batman Begins
    3.) Batman Begins
4.) Catwoman (the DVD looks pretty when you burn it, weird sounds like evil spirits rise from the smoke...)

No, and it's my guess that she never will be. She's made up of too much gumption to ever submit to being a minion of anyone, even Apocalypse. He'd have to seriously mind fuck her like Cassie did to work for him.

Apocalypse is lame. He reminds me of someone who wears his own giant initial on a belt and wears nothing but blue.

And points to you on the recognition you afforded the animated series. Batman: The Animated Series kept my love for Batman alive because I had dropped the comics because of that whole Batman/Azreal crap. What utter tripe. It still leaves a foul taste in my mouth.

Hmm, graphic dreams. I used to have them. Well, I still do. It's not so fun when you actually begin to feel the pain being inflicted on you when you dream though. I now know the sensation of being stabbed in the knee.

The Batman was stupid. Not everyone on the planet is a master of martial arts. Turning Poison Ivy into an Omega Level whatever-she-is was pretty nifty though.

Yeah... The Batman isn't all that good at all. I'm sure the kiddos are getting a thrill out of it, but it shows the level of care that Warner Bros. put in getting this show on the air. With TAS they really didn't pull any punches. No 'ray' guns in that one, tommy guns and all other manner of weapons. Violence was not really hidden as much as it was usually done to drive the story. The artwork was top notch (and the black/grey Bat Suit at the end of the run was really... sublime!) as was the art direction. I mean, come on? Art Deco? Brilliant. Absolutely Brilliant.

GL: TAS is like, the Holy Grail man. The episode where Joker shoves harley down a building - - and she still forgives him - - that was fucking ace writing.

Pro: Well, he IS the Batman. He can beat Superman, Galactus, Darkseid, The Phoenix, and the Democratic Party with an anti-everything spray.

(I like it when people punch Batman. He's a dick.)

The only things Batman can't beat are CHuck Norris and Donnie Yen. Him tyring would casue a rift in space and make the universe explode. Then they'd be the only three survivors.

Hmm, I just realized I want TAS DVD's. I miss the fun episodes like when Harley and Ivy tried drowning the Bats by throwing him in a river and tying him to a kitchen sink.

    Smulders Open To Wonder Woman

Cobie Smulders, the brunette Canadian actress who stars in CBS' How I Met Your Mother, told SCI FI Wire that she'd be open to auditioning for the title role in Joss Whedon's proposed Wonder Woman movie. She first broached the idea in the February issue of Esquire magazine, which is on sale now.

"It's funny," Smulders said in an interview at CBS' winter press tour in Pasadena, Calif., last week, "when you do like an interview for two hours, and then they take the Wonder Woman quote. ... My boyfriend ... [is] really into comic books, and ... he was the one who kind of said, 'Hey, it would be cool if you could do that.' And I don't know. Who knows? I'll go in for it if it comes up, but it's definitely not, like, in the works or anything."

Smulders said that the idea has come up before. "I think it's just the curse of having brown hair in this industry and being an actress," she said. "I think it's just a general, like, question that everyone's going to pose their clients."

Whedon, creator of TV's Buffy the Vampire Slayer and director of the feature film Serenity, has been hired to write and possibly direct a Wonder Woman movie, based on the DC Comics franchise.

They should grab a random Victoria's secret model, pump her up a bit, then hand her some golden bracelets and a lasso.

Do you think they're going to go witha yonger 20-something Wonder Woman? Or an older, more mature Wonder Woman?

Depends on what kind of story Joss is cooking up - - though I have to say, I haven't seen him do anything where the heroine is middle-aged.

If it's like, a coming of age WW thing (yeahbuwhat?), then he'd never go wrong with the courtesan chic from Firefly/Serenity.

If it's a "WAR, DEATH, KILL, LOLZ" type WW like the one we seen from Kingdom Come, then they'd better find a way to pluck Linda Carter from the past and stick her here.

Here's something I found while browsing Charisma Carpenter's (Cordelia, from Buffy/Angel) IMDB profile. It's a quote, but I don't know from when:

"Well, I can tell you what my goals are. I have a son now, so I want the half-hour sitcom lifestyle, where you can have a family and work. And then, during summer hiatus, I'd like to do a Kill Bill or Wonder Woman or some movie like that."

What do you think? Could she do it?

I think she would do fine as WW. Not to mention she's already had a working relationship w/ Whedon... that could put her at the front of any list I think.
