it happened in "wolverine & the x-men". they are actually quite consistent with inter-title continuity lately.

Speaking of Green Lantern, Gay.net posted some fun and sexy heroes and villains during their "private" time by Philip Bonneau.

    OK bumping time.

Just read the latest issue of Young Avengers and the last panel had a WTF moment seriously didn't see it coming. Don't want to spoil it so won't say much other than I'm enjoying the comic but love/hate Miss America like Jubilee her name and code name are the same which does my head in, she has no real superhero costume when the whole team do, she uses Chica(sp) waaaaay too much like Banshee in Uncanny Avengers using ye ands laddie stereotype much. Plus really know nothing about her but I have to say YA has been solid.

Picked up the 2nd Batman/Superman really not liking it too confusing but I will give it a shot.

Green Lanterns new writers hopefully will do something better than the God awful Rise of the Third Army and Revenge of the First Lantern crap we got with lights out. Relic interests me, what happened with the emotion spectrum in the universe before ours?

Liking All New x-men and Uncanny hate that Gambit is ending this has been a fun enjoyable comic book. As much as I love Marjorie Liu Astonishing just didn't fit in with all that was going on around it so hopefully they'll out her on another X book soon.

X-Factor is going to be missed the most by me PAD has done a great job, I just hope they are rebooting it in someway.

Yep the two storylines you mentioned are just bad. So far the new writers have done an OK job rebounding from them.

Big fan of X-Factor here too and sad that it is going away. But if it is rebooted without PAD, I won't be picking it up.

OK anyone reading Young Avengers. Got a feeling that either Wiccan ( another version) is Miss America's biological Father or he's responsible for her Mothers' deaths. Know nothing of her character BTW so I maybe way off.

I hope he's not the father. I hate the old 'use gay people as sperm banks' trick. Young avengers is such an amazing series at the moment. I've just caught up this weekend and I can't wait for more. Miss America is such a kickass character. I'm hope she sticks around

OK soo that Battle of the Atom Revel was good to the point of asking yourself which one is it? The one that has been gone for the past 7 years or so our time or the one we have now or one entirely different?

I'm reading half the marvel ongoing titles it seems, but I'm down to just Batman and Batman/Superman from DC. Young Avengers, Superior Spider-man and X-men Legacy seem to be the best titles currently, but I haven't caught up to Hawkeye yet.

Also, as a huge X-fan, I gotta say with regret that Infinity >>>>>>>>>>> BotA.

    Re: Comics!

Tried reading Infinity no clue WTF is going on there. BOTA is OK but for the crossover to mark the X-Men's 50th it's not up there with Messiah Complex. Still liking Young Avengers but the whole Mother arc has been too long and All New X-Men plus Uncanny although they have dipped due to BOTA. Anyway I picked up X-Men and may stick around post BOTA. Over the Moon that PAD is back writing an all New X-Factor. Picked up Dexter from Marvel which I'm enjoying I also liked Phantomex Max although I think the writer and artist have EVA's look wrong. Ultimate X-Men is getting stale I think this line needs stopped as does The Ultimates as well.

In terms of DC still reading Red Lanterns, GL and New Guardians have added Corps due to the crossover. Still a better read than the pervious crossovers but seriously they need to give us more it took how many parts before the entities told us something important.

Infinity is a triptych. You can't get it if you just read the mini-series, it also requires the Avengers and New Avengers issues. Those two series have been building up to Infinity since issues 1.

I thought that but usually the main title in a crossover is accessible wonder why this isn't the case this time round?

Cause it's more like the X-men events where multiple series make up the main arc. They're all 3 written by Hickman too. It's a 3-series main line, is the best way to describe it.

OK so BOTA ended OK but still not great. Going to give GL a chance but this running out of light lark has me confused since I though all beings willpower powered the light if you will. Anyway missed the last YAs anyone want to tell me what the major spoiler was?

Picked up The Star Wars its interesting I have to say. Batman/Superman although on a new arc is still not gripping me. Picked up Amazing X-Men felt like WatXM at the start so got a feeling it will stale quickly.

I read the last part as part of the city of owls epic. It's pretty amazing. For such an event it's actually more of a character piece

Well finished Young Avengers, I'm really going to miss this book. Is it wrong that I now have a thing for grown up 20 something Loki? lol anyway dropping the Ultimate line after Cataclysm and the GL books are not doing it for me. Will pick up Loki Agent of Asgard and the new Dexter mini, but I feel a lot of comics just are not hitting the mark. Considering the trade for Hawkeye though I'm reading good things about it.

BOTA was the problem for me lol. I'm hoping it picks up. I really like All New X-Men the O5 are interesting and having them switch and add X23 is good. X-Men has M who I loved in X Factor and thankfully Rogue is benched be the drama between Rachel and Storm is nicking at me. Amazing's first arc is going to be good but I have a horrible feeling that it will end up poor like WAXM did. Uncanny's recent Magneto once issue was good but I'm wondering now he's in a solo will he return? Also I need Cyclops to thump Wolverine hard and reunite the X-Men this split has lasted long enough time to get the band back together.

I kind of like cyclops as a counter revolutionaire though. I was never on wolverines side so it humours me that he's the one who has to stay at home and worry about the kids wagging school while cyclops goes out and does the real work.

I agree about amazing xmen but I think once nightcrawler comes in it'll really take off. So excited for 'crawlers solo later and magneto's (he's my favourite character).

I love the original 05 xmen as well. It's so good to see jean grey again and I love that x23 hasn't vanished into the ether.

But what I will say is Loki is for everyone,no matter what sexuality you identify as but yes men our now objectified in the comics, urrently the way he is written and he finally isn't evil in the black and white sense as mischief doesn't always mean evil.

Didn't have dropped a fair few titles I must say cough DC one cough and Buffy, Angel and Faith are returning so I may buy the trade. Seriously need to get a hold of the Hawkeye trades though.

    Re: Comics!

So I'm brand-new to comics. Like, I read my first one a few days ago. The Secret Invasion Deadpool tie-in was the one that broke my cherry, and I really enjoyed it. I just bought and downloaded The Killing Joke a few minutes ago and I'm about to go read it!

So, my question is, where do I start? I know literally nothing about comics, but with all of the entertainment I consume, I prefer it to make me think. I don't want a mindless, flashy or light-hearted read (aside from Deadpool, cos let's face it, he's fucking awesome), so what do I go to first?

I'm not totally into superhero comics, either, so pretty much anything that isn't fluffy and is easy to pick up at the beginning of a recent story arc would be great! Also, I'd love to read some alternative or indie stuff, so long as it's available online; I use ComiXology because there's no physical store in my crappy small town, so if you know it's available on there that'd be the best option for me. Thanks guys!

Hi risingphoenix, I know exactly what you need!

First off, go grab Alan moore's watchmen. You won't regret it, it's considered a classic. Then when you're done go and grab mark millar and Bryan hitch's ultimates run.

    Have fun!

Watchmen is at the top of my wish list!

And The Killing Joke was incredible. I used to be pretty ambivalent about the idea of comics as art, but man, that convinced me.

Even if you aren't into superheroes, I greatly recommend the current Batman run by Scott Snyder. It's amazing, and beautifully drawn. Very psychological too. The first story arc is collected in the first two hardcovers/paperbacks (it's about the Court of Owls, not sure of the titles), and the second is in Death of the Family.

Thanks, Rolyo! I'll be sure to check those out. I do enjoy psychological, dark stories, so that sounds right up my alley.

If you want something to make you think get Alan Moore's "Saga of the Swamp Thing" - it is one of the best written and beautifully drawn comic stories ever created.

What you won't understand because you are new to comics is that the Swamp Thing was a muck monster - it started off as a horror title. And Alan Moore took the title and sent it in a completely new direction without ever contradicting what had gone on before.

So many of todays writers just want to start over and say "that never happened" - but Alan Moore instead said "that is what happened - but the reason why may be different than you thought it was...."

Another book that you would enjoy is "DC Universe: The Stories of Alan Moore" - it is a selection of stand alone stories he did of different characters in the DC Universe. It is again a great read and nice to see his view on a variety of heroes.
