shatterstar and rictor are currently both written as bisexual. shatterstar is the kind who would just like to screw every boy and girl in sight, while rictor is written more as a guy with a fluid sexuality... for a while he was (mostly) straight, now he appears to be (mostly) gay.

as for how shatterstar looks nowadays... i have never noticed him in the past, despite having a thing for redheads. but in the last few issues...

x-factor is always a good read if you have the slightest affinity for the x-folks, and if you can tolerate the somewhat inconsistent art.
good jumping-on points are #1 (obviously), #33, #200 (yes, there was a renumbering), and #207.

legacy: luz is a real asshole, isnt she? it was already a little appearant last issue, but i didnt think theyd go this far. i like it if books surprise me like this. otherwise more good solid work by carey and mann. the final spash-page is particularly impressive.

Really x-cited (get it, I'm punny), for Uncanny X-factor coming out this week! Sure it's got Marvel two most overexposed characters (Wolverine and Deadpool), but the team as a whole looks solid, so I'm hoping for an interesting book!

I've been reading Locke and Key by Joe Hill & Gabriel Rodriguez. And a friend lent me a Love and Rockets trade, which I enjoyed.

Anyone reading JMS's Wonder Woman. I picked it up the 3rd issue was OK it just bulit up to the Big Bad or a Big Bad showing up to fight Diana and her her to get her rope back. What I like about it was we got a glimpse as to what has happened with the Gods. I've never picked WW up but the twist in time interested me and I'll keep reading to see where it goes.

I picked up Artifacts 2 today again a solid read and straight to the point. Love how the Witchblade can keep Mammy and Dddy in check lol. Just wish I wouldn't keep missing issues of Witchblade.

Talking of missing issues since its after After the Fall launch I keep missing issues of Angel I picked the most recent issue but I'm lost. I'm considering dropping the book until dark Horse start printing it.

rahne: was i that lousy? did i turn you gay?
    rictor: BWAHAHAHAHA!

    ok, one more:

if you were any further in the closet, youd have been in bloody narnia!

another good issue of x-factor. im glad theyre moving along the rictor-wolfsbane subplot relatively quickly... i wouldnt want that to drag on for too long. and i love the way they portray telepathy as a difficult, complex thing, rather than 'professor x blinks with his eyes and everything is ok'. i havent heard of this new villain, ballistique... is she a new character? the art is nice too, although i really wish x-factor was able to hold on to one artist, or at least one style. the art on this title still is all over the place.

x-men #4: there really isnt much to this story, is there? at least the art is solid.

Enjoyed X-Factor very much this week. Cannot wait for X-Men Legacy next Wednesday. Rogue absorbing Perro was my favorite part of the preview.

    Re: Comics!

i havent read the previous incarnation of x-force, mainly because paul o'brien had been giving it terrible reviews. but im giving this new incarnation a shot.

right off the bat, theres a bunch of stuff that doesnt really endear the title to me. i fucking hate deadpool, and i prefere phantomex as an antagonist. wolverine, angel, and psylocke are characters im rather indifferent towards, and apocaplypse has lost his mojo 15 years ago. and while the idea of a black-ops x-team has some potential, would scott really be upset if he knew a team of his x-men were going after apocalypse? i think hed be more likely to support them. and the psylocke/angel romance... do we really need to go there again?

despite all that, x-force has some spark. phantomex is surprisingly endearing here, and there is a team dynamic that has the potential to go somewhere. the final scene is deliciously creepy. and the art is really good, particulatly with psylocke (although i wish theyd draw a more handsome angel).

i dont think we need a dozen x-titles every month, and x-force doesnt really seem to have a purpose. but on a pure craft level, its rock-solid, surpassing both x-men and uncanny x-men. im gonna stick with it for now.

uncanny: thank god this terrible arc is over. can we please send portacio away now and never invite him back? the writing is still clunky (for example, emma would never ever admit that shes "not good at her job", even to herself), and fraction really needs to make up his mind about what the main cast of this book is supposed to be. the 'generation hope' preview manages to make the new cast more interesting in six pages than fraction did in five issues. seriously matt, get a grip.

legacy: enjoyable enough, but i expected a little more substance. as hard as carey may be trying, the children of the vault just arent that interesting.

new mutants: an extended fight scene, but very well done. beside x-factor the best x-book thats currently being published.

X-Cess I agree with you on NM and X-Factor, I never read the NM originally and not sure about the Inferno storyline but the way the book is written it has made the book accessable to new fans as well as old.

Really like Rictor he is becomming a real 3D human character, I could see him living in the real world.

I agree, Uncanny has been really sub-par lately, and I really dislike the inconsistent art.

Legacy has been okay, but the story screams of filler material.

"X-men" has been kind of lame... vampires and what not. However, I'm kind of curious how it will work out.

Like for everyone else here, X-factor has been really enjoyable! Maybe it's just the gay part of me... but I feel it's consistently well written, and has great artwork!

Haven't been up on New Mutants, but I will probably check it out if you guys think it's worthwhile.

New X-force is interesting, but with only 1 issue so far, I can't really tell. It's cool that they are bringing back that certain villain!

I'm really curious about Generation Hope. I really want it to be a good story!

I really feel with the x books of late that half of what is being put into new comics can be added to the current batch. Hope and the 5 lights can be covered in Legacy and Uncanny and the whole "superhero" team book of x-men started in Wheadon's Astonishing run change the book slightly in terms of team and there you go.

so, generation hope. its actually quite good. the art is excellent, and the characters are starting to show some personality. sure, some of them seem familiar - gabriel is basically strong guy, and laurie is husk - but there is still plenty of time to take them in unexpected directions, and idie, teon, and hope are pretty unique.

what problems i have come more from the context. the x-men have already more than enough young characters, so im not sure wether we really need a complete new set. and while this issue is perfectly fine as a first issue, i was hoping wed be a little further - both with the characters and the plot - after already having spent four issues with these guys over in uncanny.

still, its executed very well, and theres lots of potential here.

x-factor: i think this issue was a little slight. and im starting to think that were spending an awful lot of time on a storyline with a very simple plot. still, x-factor is always a breezy read, and shatterstar keeps cracking me up. as written by david hes quickly becoming one of my favourite characters.

x-men #5: yeah whatever. who didnt see that coming? and if theyre gonna spend an entire issue on a fight scene, they really could have worked it out a little better. i dig the "though skin crew", though... the idea with ice-man was also really nice, but again, i wish they would have done a little more with it.

Haven't picked up on X-Factor just yet, but from what I'm reading here and elsewhere it looks really good. I am, however, following the new volumes of Wolvie, X-Men, X-23, and Daken's and Hope's new comics. I really like the first issue of Generation Hope.

Anyone keeping up with the Bat-Family comics, just curious =]

Is Batman and Robin still good? I dropped it after that whole vist to England arc and it kinda seemed scattered in parts of the 1st arc.

I don't know, I've read the first in Morrison's run but I need to catch up. It still looks great and there's plenty of good buzz.

I was actually debating wether I should get the Iron man/Thor mini by Abnett and Lanning. Those writers are brilliant and I do love the characters.

Oh yeah, Batman & Robin is still good lol. Especially after Joker's and Dr. Hurt's recent involvement not to long ago. And I agree, the whole England thing was a bit...bleh

    Re: Comics!

x-force: despite fantomex' insistance that 'this is not the x-men, this is something quite different', x-force is actually exactly that: a good old fashioned x-men story. and even though i dont care particularly about any of the characters involved, its drawn and written well enough that i cant help but enjoy it.

uncanny: i expected lands art to look better than usual, since the comparison to the terrible, terrible portacio must be flattering. god, i was wrong. this is, hands down, the worst, most rushed art by greg land ive ever seen. its just... ive never liked his art, hated it most of the time, actually. but this is a new level of aweful.

but the story is actually quite good. sublime is the villain of the arc, and it seems to stretch out in unexpected directions. there are some clumsy moments here and there, plus a subplot about the chinese mafia which doesnt seem to connect to anything else. but weve also got a interim x-team consisting of storm, northstar, dazzler, pixie, and angel, which looks like a lot of fun.

ive yet to read new mutants and legacy.

    oh and...

doesnt this look exciting? its probably a mike carey storyline too, given the artist and the characters depicted. whos phoenix? is it hope, or rachel grey? or even jean grey or madelyne pryor? then, we have rogue, magneto, gambit, cannonball, hellion, proudstar, and dragoness. whos the black woman, maybe tempo? and the guy with the mask? its been quite a while since a preview has gotten me this excited!

new mutants: ohhhh, this is so good. at this point the best x-book. if there is one complaint (because i always have at least one), then its that wells so far has made excellent use of each member... except magma, who always seems to just hang around in the background, or simply be unconscious. and now hes going to kill her off, and if he goes through with it, it doesnt seem quite fair. that aside, new mutants is excellent.

legacy: it feels like this arc should have come before 'collision'. anyway, its very promising. mike carey never fails to make good use of the minor characters, and im particularly glad karima is back. hellion has always been a great character - a troubled teen with the potential to become either a great hero, or a terrible villain - and it looks like this is going to be a turning point for him. part of me wants him to become a full-on villain, simply because intereting and engaging villains are so hard to come by. the art is a little mediocre, though.

    Re: Comics!

^ regarding your picture above, it's a preview for a storyline they are relating to "Age of Apocalypse", meaning some sort of alternate timeline.

The guy with the mask is actually Basilisk, the black chick is Frenzy. So, our completed cast is now Gambit, Hellion, Beserker, Nightmare, Basilisk, Frenzy, Magneto, Cannonball, Revenant, and Reaper.

The word is that Revenant is the Jean Grey look-a-like, and Reaper is the Rogue look-a-like.

Anyone else find Hellion sexy here?

OK Basilisk is Cyclops, the Phoneix character is not Hope, Rouge, Hellion and Cannonball are there. The character of Nightmare is debated to be Pixie, Mags is there of course. The pic below shows Betsy in her English body. In this universe she has purple hair butterfly earrings and has 2 daggers. You can guess most of the others. Carey is writing this in both the Legacy and New Mutnat comics, it will fill the gap between writers in NM. He has also said it evolved from an idea he had to bring the various "generations" of X-Men together.

its chamber! havent seen him around in ages... i had such a crush on him as a teen! in retrospective, its almost embarassing how calculated his character was: the brooding, tortured loner, the secretive, quiet rebel with a heart of gold, used to play in a punk band, tragic past, sexy british accent, skinny jeans, black leather jacket, mysterious and extreme powers... of course, hes ultimately useless because hes not gonna be able to give you a decent rimmjob.

As a follow-up the reveal of the final “X-Men” line-up for Age of X, comes more tidbits from writer Mike Carey and editor Daniel Ketchum. We know the Age of X-men characters will include new-yet-familiar characters like Reaper, Revenant, Frenzy, Basilisk, Nightmare, Beserker, Hellion, Gambit, Cannonball, and Magneto

Here’s what else we now know about Age of X as a result of a “Next Big Thing” call by Marvel:

The story starts with “Age of X Alpha” in January and runs through “X-Men Legacy” and “New Mutants” for the next several months…

…[Writer Mike] Carey confirmed that “X” stands for “X-Men,” but that the story takes place “in a world that has never known the X-Men, in which the X-Men never came together as a team.” But “there’s also a character, kind of, that’s called X. By the time it’s over, it will have stood for several things”…

…[editor Daniel] Ketchum said the series will explore the original idea of “X-Men being something ‘extra,’” and that the characters “will be doing new cool things with their powers” and being configured into new relationships…

….At the start of the story, “There is a fortress–the whole world has become hostile territory for mutants, but there is this fortress where all the surviving mutants are invited to come,” Carey said, but unlike Utopia, “it’s surrounded by enemies.” The area around the fortress “has been squashed flat by years of conflict.” Ketchum added that the fortress emphasizes that “the battle is right at their door.”

Carey said there is “a very good reason” why “Age of X” is structured in ongoing X-books, and it’s set up as “a mystery thriller” that will explain why it relates to the 616 world. “We’re revealing it backwards,” Carey said, adding that the end would reveal why it was done this way….

…”Rogue is very much the protagonist and point of view character in the first of the three acts,” Carey said, but other characters would take center stage as the situation escalates. “But she is our entry character’”…

…There will be a tie-in book likely titled “Age of X: Avengers,” Ketchum revealed….

…Ketchum said the Phoenix character “is definitely not Hope,” and Carey added that Basilisk is Cyclops, wrapping up the call….

I would think Chamber had a British accent--since he was from England.
And I've always found Hellion sexy, this pic just proves my point.
So when's Jean coming back from the dead?

He was written as having an English accent in his telepathy bubbles in Gen X.

im not thrilled about yet another distopian alternate timeline, especially since it seems to just be an exagerated version of the 'utopia' setup. but the promo-art looks exciting, its not completely discionnected from the mainstream timeline, and carey is helming it, so i have faith...

In regards to Chamber I know how his accent is wriiten yet the accents in England vary I'm juyst wondering if in fact his accent would be considered sexy if you actually heard that particular accent in real life.

generation hope: its fine, if a little underwhelming. the pace is a little slow, the art is getting a little sketchy here and there (although its still pretty impressive overall), and the lights are getting very little attention, given that this is supposed to be their book.

and if kenji is supposed to be the teams arch-nemesis, then "insane!" isnt a particularly interesting motivation. to be fair, its been implied that his powers have driven him insane, which makes for an interesting parallel to teon, who presumably also had his mind destroyed by his powers. and he cant turn out to be be worse than emplate.

(the book actually has quite a few similarities to early generation x issues, now that i think of it. teen mutant team battling grotesque and undermotivated villain, likable characters and impressive art makes up for the glacial pace of the story)

Wow, I just noticed in the first promotion cover for "Age of X" that Hellion's robotic-prosthetic isn't actually connected to his limb - it's hovering in place via is telekinesis. ...Cool

Don't mind the double post >.< I couldn't edit these new pics I've found into my last post before this one. I'm really digging Storm's, Namor's, Gambit's, Chamber's, Cyclops' new looks.

    ****POSSIBLE SPOILER
Also I they've got a pic of Beast being attacked by a riot floating around somewhere. o.o The death of this mini story line?

I dunno, I've been a big fan of her latest Uncanny costume. I think it's a bit of a throwback to her original costume, made modern. She rocks it.
