Oh sweetie, don't do slim fast. Just eat six small meals evenly spaced throughout the day and do one hour of sweaty exercise three times per week and you'll be golden.

    I love the Venom sketch!

You know what? When I checked it out from Netflix, I was surprised to see that there was only one disc under the title. Whenever there is a special edition, they seperate the discs and make you check them both out. With this one, there was only the once disc. Hmm...

I just did a search on Best Buy, they only referenced two versions of X-Men: The Last Stand. They were both the same movie, only one was widescreen the other was pan-scan. I didn't see a mention of a Best Buy Edition. Further, both only indicated one disc.

Okay, now here's my bid for "Forum's Best Artist".

This one's Vaan from FFXII up against a Marlboro...

    http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...20/Disable.jpg

This is the Hellfire Club. Now, I originally used, like, 5 million different pencils for this, but my scanner couldn't cope with all the shades of grey, so I had to just use Image Magic to add a different effect to it than I planned...

    http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p...0/Hellfire.jpg

I abhor how Negasonic's lipstick doesn't show up.

Anyway, there you go! And before you say anything, yes, I know Emma's lips are all wrong, and Vaan's neck is way too small. Cheerio!

So...what are your thoughts on Astonishing 18? I'm prettys atisfied, but I was hoping for more Kitty and Emma resolution. I guess we'll have to wait.

Civil War: Ruanways/Young Avcengers was emjoyable, but it seemed too easy. Still using Vision was a nice touch for Nico and I was really really really worried for Teddy and Billy Those devices looked awful.

    Logan: How?
Hank: It's technical. But "big magnet" covers a lot of it. No one made of metal or wearing way too much of it is going anywhere for a while.
    Logan: No, YOU.
    Hank: Ah, yes, me.
    Ball of string.
Logan: All right. Got it. Class dismissed, yessh.
    Hank: And you?
    Logan: Had a beer.

I'm glad that all of this was finally explained from New X-Men. The only thing that wasn't really explained was the aftermath of Emma's deal for the synthetic diamond mutation and what the 'epiphane like St. Paul on the road to Damascus' event was when Emma returned and 'stopped' Nova. It only explains what happened after Emma trapped her in Stuf's body.

I think this was the most telling part:

It sounds to me like the black costume is, in many ways, a metaphor for what the Marvel Universe has become following "Civil War."

What I'll say is that it's a metaphor for how Spider-Man is feeling.

I'm pretty sure that Emma's epiphany was just a way for Cassie to prevent everyone from knowing that she switched bodies with Charles. Emma was probably in on it too, her only to be supressed once more to avoid any psychic detection from Jean.

Also, her compliance with the deal to survive while everyone else wouldn't must have been the one that gave form to the 'Negasonic' persona. It must have been so strong that not even Cassie's mental blocks made Emma really forget.

All in all, the issue was just brilliant. I am jealous of how well Joss can write, and the people who didn't get the story are dumbasses.

    Scott is hardcore.

Now we have X-Men in space. Awesome.

I definitely think that the black Spiderman costume is only to differentiate him from his Tony-Stark tool costume since he's switching sides. Definitely not the symbiont. Definitely think Mary Jane's going to kick it.

I'm so pleased for X-Men in space, though I want to know what the long reaching ramifications are for Scott's inability to access his powers unless he doesn't want to be able to control them at all.

    Re: Comics!

I'm all for Scott not having his optic blasts. Since the start of X-men, Scott never had any dimension other than being Mr.-Too-Scared-To-Unleash-His-Full-Potential (and being Mr. Phoenix). Now, without his optic blasts, we can finally see just what makes him such a 'brilliant' team leader. We can see him improvise in the battlefield, and see if he's got what it takes to be Marvel's next Batman.

Also, he shoots little girls in the head now. That is way awesome.

P.S. Read Marvel's February solicitations. I'm pretty certain that the word "symbiote" is written there in a preview somewhere.

P.S.S. Captain America should be put down like the rabid dog that he is.

I checked out some Moon Knight because I had to do some research on Frenchie being gay.

It seems alright, but it's kind of like Batman ripoff.

Did anyone see Peter outsmart Tony? It was awesome. Tony sucks.

Now to be fair, I read one of the Iron Man comics where some douche tells him that he has the right to do this because he's both human and superhero, but I don't see how that justifies anything he does.

Tony does suck. And being human and a superhero justifies nothing. What sucks is that I always liked Iron Man and the whole concept of the armor... but after this? The character is ruined for me.

I can see how Moon Knight can be viewed as a Batman ripoff. The only thing that differentiates him from The Dark Knight is that he has no compunction when it comes to offing a nasty bad guy. At least that's how he seems to be portrayed this time around. Time will tell if he sticks to this trait. Nevertheless, I like it.

OK question for all the geeks....

In Civil War, some friends and I have a theory that someone major is pulling the strings... manipulating that ghastly Mrs. Sharpe.....

I'm stabbing in the dark here but I'm guessing Red Skull Or Doom...my money is on Red Skull...seems more his M.O. crackdown to a police state beginning of fascism....yada yada yada...

although with the way certain things have been going it will probably end up being some crappy super villian like Arnim Zola or another Skrull infiltrator.....or worse.... Crossbones or Wizard...

    Any thoughts or opinions guys?

No, I think Marvel (the member, not the company) also postulated that this Civil War thing is a bigger issue than the events of that day with Nitro.

I agree. This is so much of a disturbance that there's definitely something more sinister afoot here. I wanted to say that it could be a skrull imposter of Tony, but Tony's had too much time to reflect on it and speak to his friends for this to be a matter of him being an imposter or being mind controlled by someone.

personally, i think there is something going on with the S.H.I.E.L.D. since they are suppose to be an UN operation now, and yet they are still so involved with the Super Human Registration Act that only affect one nation

    Awww...DAMN!
I've stopped reading comics (at least THAT type of comics! I still go crazy about Disney...Donald Duck rules!!Hahahaha!) since I was like 11...But not willingly!
It wasn't a conscious decision, like I woke up one day and sayd no more comics. It just kinda happened...partly because where I live they don't really bring many comic books and it was hard keeping up. And so I just kinda slowly drifted more & more away...

...which I don't like AT ALL!!! I'm completely behind, like a decade or so! In the past few years I tried to pick up again but I couldn't really understand what was happening cos I'd missed out on so much!! Now if I pick up a comic book like X-Men (was my favorite) I probably won't understand a thing!!

I remember following the "Onslaught" series...and the new X-Men (Uncanny??) after it up to a point...but then I lost track! What's been going on with my favorite superhero team?? Can anybody give me a very brief recap?

I wanted to say that it could be a skrull imposter of Tony, but Tony's had too much time to reflect on it and speak to his friends for this to be a matter of him being an imposter or being mind controlled by someone.
    I did what?

Anyhoo, the reason it's sinister is because there isn't equal representation on both sides. It's borderline retarded the way Quesada and co. says that there is no right and wrong when every book with a Civil War title - - Paul Jenkins especially - - is content with portraying the Pro-Reg side as heartless assholes. Who are evil. Nonetheless, it's human nature to assume something sinister is afoot when a Government wants to affect change, since we all seem to have a constant distrust with figures of authority.

Nonetheless, I'm still pro-reg. It's the only way to avoid a future like Kingdom Come or Damian Tryp's apocalypto.

    Just wanted to say Hi!

Comics, at their best, are the sum of the best of literature and the best in paintings. With twice the force for getting a message across.

I'm reading the Mercury Falling arc of New X-Men right now. I like that they're focusing on Cessily right now. She's a deep character and learning more about her and seeing an arc about her is really not what I was expecting. I'm pleased.

But I hope they don't just make this a X23, Hellion, Cessily arc. The other characters definitely need to be involved.

It's pretty impressive I have to say. Not that JLA hasn't been fun so far, but there is something really brewing with JSA. It's only two issues if you want to get in on it!

    Next Superman Has More Baddies?

Michael Dougherty, co-writer of last year's Superman Returns, told SCI FI Wire that the upcoming sequel will feature at least one villain drawn from the DC Comics franchise. Or more than one? "Maybe," Dougherty said coyly in an interview on the set of his upcoming supernatural horror film Trick 'r Treat in Vancouver, Canada, on Jan. 15. "It's [Mr.] Myxyzptlk," he added, with tongue in cheek.

Dougherty said that it's likely he and his Superman Returns writing partner Dan Harris will again work with Singer on the sequel. "We're talking," Dougherty said. "We're bouncing ideas around with Bryan. Big ideas. Action-packed ideas."

Singer has said the next installment will be along the lines of the second Star Trek film, and Dougherty said the comparison is apt. "I think it's going to be a more action-oriented film," he said. "Again, the easy comparison to make was [X-Men] to X2, or Star Trek [The Motion Picture] to Star Trek II. I mean, I know that Bryan has said he's going to Wrath of Khan it, and by that he means, 'Let's take what we've already established—we've gotten that out of the way—and let's just make it shorter, tighter and more action-packed." —Patrick Lee, News Editor

    Pro,

I have to reinforce GL's encouragement here. JSA #1 & 2 are two of the best comics I've read in recent years that are starting off a title. While I enjoy a lot of what's happening in JLA, it has felt like a lot of build-up with little pay-off. With JSA #1 & 2, the amount of story that's packed into these two issues is amazing. The art is also beautiful and detailed as well. It's moved to the top of my must-read list each week it comes out now.
