Ultimate Universe Cap owns all. Killed somebody with just one punch, awesome.

616 Cap though? His side on the Civil War has me at odds with him.

    Okay...

So I just read Astonishing 15 and...

I was disappointed with how Logan got dealt with. I mean, it's effective, but i really wanted to see every square inch kicked and kicked hard.

And just what is NTW's powers? She dreams things that she wants to happen ahead of time so they happen?

I do enjoy what I now see to be Emma's master plan and how much it involves Kitty.

Logan's ass gets kicked in almost every book he's in - - so having his dignity ripped apart was the next logical course.

And it isn't clear what Nega's powers really are, but we all know that if she can control reality, then the writers are going to have some fun. Besides, she dreams what, fifty times in one night?

And is Nova there? or was she just projecting?

BTW, we are to assume that Ernst and Nova were the same character, right? So when did she shift from being strange Ernst to the devious Nova?

I wonder what they'll do with Hisako. Unlike the other New X-Men, Hisako seems the most likely to succeed in being writeable enough for readers to like her and become one of the known X-Men characters like the original New X-Men did.

    Re: Comics!

For all we know, Nova could have just downright cloaked herself to Henry's animal senses. Nonetheless, she got to both of their minds without a problem, and that's hot. And since Morisson pretty much admitted that Nova was Ernst, there really wasn't any need for Joss to devote some panels to re-revealing that fact.

And truth be told, of the new generation of X-Men, I find Dust, Hellion, and of course, the Stepfords, to be the most intruiging.

EDIT: And for fuck's sake, I am so tired of the writers constantly portraying Iron Man (and the registration) as the second coming of Nazism. How the fuck are people going to decide when every writer out there makes Cap the obvious hero and Tony the obvious bad guy?

    Re: Comics!

That's because Tony's a tool in every sense of the word. His powers are tool-based and he's a tool in general. And he's one of those disenting pansies who ends up messing shit up because of it (i.e. Young Avengers, in which his stern disagreement bends both jessica and Cap and then shit happens and Kate calls them all out on it...okay, that was unfair, but still)

    ...Captain America stands for freedom.

For new gens, I find Dust, the Cuckoos (but something is going to happen with them that won't make them actual X-Men ever), Hisako, David, Anole, and Pixie to be top contenders for more fleshing out and possible X-attention.

The others are kind of just there because they need people who have powers like that. They're not fleshing them out well at all. They're just sort of dropping it. Mercury's parent situation can be so much more, but her only Kevin can touch me quality has been done. Rockslide is 2-dimensional at best, Hellion's a standard hot shot and his powers are pretty common, Josh is pretty vacuous even with his insanity, Kevin is never going to be able to control his powers, Surge has something but it doesn't look like they'll ever get around to it and her powers are standard energy emitting, Laura's alright but I think they're just going to make her another Wolverine (as if she isn't already), I think they realized how too-powerful laurie was so they killed her, Sofia's powers were too generic which is why she's been completely blipped out (in contrast to David), and jay's just a whiny emo bitch.

I say that Anole and Pixie are goign to get something because they've been shown far too frequently not to. ixie's attitude seems like a bubbly one they haven't had in a while since both Kitty and Jubes are either grown up or miserable. Plus, Anole's been given screen time because of Northstar and the fact that he's gay. New X-Men's going to milk him for that, since they need a gay character to throw in there.

    Did I miss anyone else?

Blindfold! I have no idea what they'll do with her.

Sellout, tool, whatever. The man is doing what he thinks is right. I'm behind him 100%. And don't forget, he never even wanted the bill to get pushed through in the first place - - it was only when it did that he realized the best option on how to deal with it was to actually work on it from the inside, to allow for the smoothest transition possible.

Superheroes ARE vigilantes. And vigilantes ARE illegal. The only reason everyone turned a blind eye to that was because up til now, the heroes were careful enough to keep collateral damage to a minimum.

(P.S. I don't recall what happened in YA though, could you refresh my memory?)

Anyway, Joss seems to like the idea that it's Blindfold who's going to predict when somebody dies (Wing primarily). I like her. As for the New X-Men themselves, yeah they're stereotypes, but they are well-written stereotypes who's own title is leagues above the bullshit that are Adjectiveless and Uncanny. I think Pixie and ANole are there just to remind us that there are actually some students other than the New X-Men left in the campus.

Dust is killer. And I think they ended up writing Kevin off because of Elixir's newly acquired power (give the kid some justification as to be called Omega).

...actually, i never really liked that intro. It seemed really lame to me and the CG sucked :P But the Justice League Unlimited opening was cool

In YA, after everythign with kree/Skrull is settled and Patriot is stabilized, Cap suggest again that the kids go back to normal lives.

Kate tells him that the moment he can walk again, Patriot will keep fighting crime, just liek they all will and that she can't help but feel that if Cap and iron Man had trained them, then all of this wouldn't have happened. Billy's parents' home wouldn't have been destroyed, Teddy's mom wouldn't have been killed, and Patriot wouldn't have gotten himself nearly killed. If Cap and Iron Man had taken them seriously and trained them in protecting themselves and using their powers, they could have avoided a lot of the mishaps that happened.

So afterwards, Jessica Jones visits them and gives Kate Hawkeye's quill from Cap with a card that says 'for Hawkeye'. They don't know fi that means that they get to use the facilities, so we'll probably figure it out in the next arc.

    Somewhere in S.H.I.E.L.D. I believe.

It's really too bad he's sorta faded away into obscurity.

He's still active in the Ultimate Universe, just not 616 right?
Here's a question after The House Of M fallout does he even have his powers any more?

I think some writer just wanted to get rid of him. However I like my French Former FLQ member....Northstar.

(oh yes, and the Hulkling and Wiccan comment were to try and get Marvels all fired up )

So how did Northstar die again anyways?
I mean I know the Hand ressurected him as evil, did they kill him first or was he dead from something else. I know it wasn't his "illness" because his "illness" just kinda vanished.

He did die in "The End" after saving Cyclops from his internal injuries...and who knows what's going on with him in the Ultimate Universe...we haven't really heard things other than E-mails right?
Is Kurt still being a douche to Piotr or has he gotten over it yet?

Any news or word how the rest of the team feels about Colossus being gay, I know Wolverine didn't want him to tell him about the crush....
And seriously Kitty and Spidey? that's not gonna end well....(what's going on with MJ, in Ultimate Spidey?) I mean I knwo she knows he's Spider-Man (peter) because he liek showed her in the first few issues.....but seriously SOO many stories to follow so little time.

    Re: Comics!

Wolverine was revealed to be a sleeper cell and he was triggered and ended up killing Northstar 9even though Elixer managed to heal him). Then as the team was deciding what to do (cut off his head so that the hand couldn't revive him) the hand managed to teloport in, efeated the X-Men stole his body, revived him and I think Wolverine defeated him again but didn't kill him.

Nightcrawler's all upset about Colossus being gay and won't speak with him. Jean grey's fine with it and obviously all of the other team is too except for Kitty because I just don't think she knows. Even Emma's team is obviously okay with it.

Spidey and Kitty are dating and doing fabulously, though when MJ confronts him he kind of admits that he's more with Kitty because she won't be at risk if his villains go after his loved ones than he is because he loves her.

I have the complete run of the original Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. Loved the series, but always hated having to wait a month to get the next chapter in the saga. I'd spend hours scrutinizing the covers, because the original cover artist always included such interesting tidbits on teh bookcases.

the new wonder woman comic came out in june and now #2 isn't coming out till the middle of august!? what the fuck? why do dc and marvel keep hiring tv and movie writers who are to busy with those projects to get the comics out on time? wonder woman's 65th anniversary is this year and already the re launch of her book is way behind.thank god the writer is only taking on 5 issues. i expected more from a gay wonder woman writer!! look how great phil jimenez did. his run was really good. just as good as george perez's re launch in 1987. and speaking of ww if she does have a movie come out in the next year or so than do you guys think an animated series will follow? they did it for superman and batman. i would love to see her very own cartoon. her episodes on the jl and jlu were great.

Luminum: DMZ is about what happens should the United States go to a real Civil War, where the States have it at each other. On one side, there are the Free States (New Jersey, etc.) who are probably sick of what passes for democracy, and the United States who are basically composed of territories that didn't defect. Slam bang in the middle is Manhattan island, now completely cordoned off, where the major battles are always held. DMZ follows a photo journalism intern who gets stranded there after a news special gone wrong, and gives us a cool view of what happens when the shit hits the fan.

Blue: Well, if the guy's doing an okay job, then iI suppose it's worth the wait.

I've been a bit interested in those one-shot collections of graphic novel works, such as Why Are You Doing This? by Jason.

They're just so interesting and unique to consider and usually very simple.

Gaiman worked on the original 1602, which had a follow up entitled "The New World" by Greg Pak, who did the Phoenix: Endsong. Personally? I'm not familiar with Gaiman's work, but for the most part, people are saying that his 1602 isn't up to par, and from my own (extremely high) standards, I'd have to agree.

Right now, he's busy with Eternals, featuring Sersi, mind you. Number one came out this month, and number two is shipping this week. I'm getting my copy tomorrow. If you don't have it yet then maybe you can just back-order. It's not all that great, but my bro really digged it, so he'll be the one spending the cash.

I read 1602, now I remember. It wasn't fantastic, but his Sandman stuff is.

I seriously recommend reading the trades. He also did a bit about The Sandman's family, the Endless who appear every so often in the standard comics. It's called The Sandmen: Endless Nights.

By the way, read Ultra: Seven Days by the Luna Brothers. It's like Sex and City meets Marvel, totally rocks

Just wanted to share this with all of you and to get your support of the project.

    http://pridecomics.com

Those of you familar with the game City of Heroes may remember a gay team called PRISM. Well, a number of the original members of the team (me included) have banded together to start a comic series.
I serve as an adviser to the comic. My hero, Lightspot, appears in the series. Please stop by the above site, check it out, and visit the forums to learn more about the book, which will arrive this fall.

    Thanks!

If by 'Tony', you're referring to none other than Tony Stark aka Iron Man, I couldn't agree with you more. One of the earliest significant memories back in my hey-day when I had barely collected comics more more than a year, was Iron Man #228, and after what he did to Steve 'Captain America' Rogers (The way I just did it; it's for the newbies; obviously not the seasoned comic pros, natch) in that ish, I never really liked him. I even did some fan fic/a prospective script for Marvel (that I actually sent to them) where I made Iron Man into a rabid homophobe, and although that didn't ever make it into a comic, I have an idea that Kurt Busiek may have gotten his hands on it, and some point, and 'organically' inserted his interpretation into one of his books, and though Iron Man wasn't portrayed as anti-gay, he did make a comment 'bout him being racist; the exact (if I've got the scumbag title right, anywayz) quote was "Now that I've come across as the Imperial Grand Wizard of the KKK...".

Big points to any real geeks who can name me the V. and issue # where Tony the Tool said that...

hmm, we should start different threads for DC and marvel. Cause I don't know what the fuck is going on in Marvel right now (by default, im a dc fan) Civil war seems awesome, but i am so far behind, i cant get into it. i missed too much. If its anything as big as infinite Crisis at DC then it must be awesome

One of the founding members of the CoH PRISM did go on to found PRISM comics, but the two groups have nothing in common.

Don't feel bad, I'm buying most of the Civil War stuff and I feel so far behind myself. Some of it just isn't making any sense... I think part of it is the way the books are scheduled to come out.

The last comic/manga I read was Battle Royale... which is where I found the chick in my avatar. My friend had it, and she hates manga but said it was THAT good. And it was good, I loved i t an imidiately bought the novel it was based off of. It's amazing I loved it so much, considering I don't read manga at all.

    ...changed my life. lol

MunSimpson: Hey bro, glad to see another BR fan here. (Thought I was the only one...) The manga's awesome, way more than the film version since the movie never got to flesh out the students like the comic did.

Mitsuko is awesome. She's gotta be the most creative killer out there.

God, she was hella nuts. But I lurved her. My ex and I rented it hoping it would be a fun gore-fest like Kill Bill but ti turned out to be a bit more disturbing than we thought.

I still think DC's to glitz and camp for me to take it very seriously. The primaries! The costumes! Gah!

Yeah, censor nuts should have a field day with it. It's way more freaky than Kill BIll 'cuz those are actual 15 year olds playing 15 year olds who are stabbing, shooting, and maiming each other.

But it's way tame comapred to the Manga version. There we get brains, guys getting uzi-ed in the crotch, Mitsuko raping a guy to death, and other scary shit that some of my badass straight friends can't even stomach.

    Re: Comics!

Did anyone read Nick Fury? I just saw that there is a movie announced for 2008. My thing is that I never read the original S.H.I.E.L.D. series from the 60's (I wasn't born) but I became interested when I saw a parody of it done in a Simpsons comic. It made out that it was all kinda weird 60's psychadelic in style (by Streranko) and I love all that kinda stuff so I was trying to look out to buy some of the old versions. BUT i know that Hollywood will just modernize the story in another generic factory superhero remake, which I am so sick of! They did the same with Fantastic Four. I wanted them to do a jokey, camp 1960's version like the original (kinda like Incredibles did), but I suppose that would be unmarketable.

    Hey hey! BR fans, coolness.

Yeah, Mitsuko was by far my favorite killer in the series AND probably just one of my favorite in general. I guess why I like her is because just about every highschool has to potential to have a Mitsuko. Molested and abused as a little girl only to become a hollow shell as a teenager. Scary thought actually.

And the manga was so gory. Especially with the sickel deaths, like when she cut through the girls neck, and also the one guy who tried to seduce, when it cut through the bridge of his nose and face. It was disurbing.

Well I have been out of the loop.

But I've recently just read Civil War # 1, and Cap fighting those gaurds kicked ass, especially when you find out he takes the pilot out for Burgers and Fries (I know Marvels, he's such a monster!:P)

I also read house Of M, most of the comics from the fallout, X-men Forever, which was kind of weird....why did Mystique look like movie Mystique, they do that on purpose? I read Cyclops Icons, I had trouble reading it though because it was kinda bad and the art didn't turn my crank.

Also read X-men Giant Size #1!
and a bunch of other stuff...oh and I read the Uncanny X-men house of M stuff...and it was just weird...I didn't really like it, I also didn't like when the Shi'Ar killing the entire Grey family...it just seemed kinda I unno....bad? I can see why peopel don't like Claremont.
I've read most of "X-Men The End" which isn't SO bad, but a lot of characters I find seem out of character.

And I read my Phoenix: Endsong which I liked....the art is amazing...It's too bad Warsong doesn't look any where near as good as Endsong.

Oh yeah and I Drew the Phoenix...here's a picture (and don't worry it's not my atrocious MSPaint pictures). but because jub as silly size restrictions you're only going to get to see some of it, in fact only a small bit. . I'll upload it to photobucket if i get good compliments ... or when i have highspeed.
