I have no interest in that programme. I've had the misfortune of catching it a few times over here in the UK and it sickens me that kids are so spoiled and bratty. Unfortunately, it's spawned a UK version which is almost as bad. UK parents don't have quite as much cash as some of their US counterparts but it still saddens me. The whole thing is like one big pissing competition.

I think it's utterly ridiculous to buy a car like that for a 16 year old kid. He can't even drive. How is he ever going to learn the value of money?

I wonder if 'diddy' stuck his hand in his pocket and contributed to the Haiti disaster? Along with all his other rap star buddies, he could probably have funded the disaster appeal single handedly.

Yea, but for every bratty, drugged out, disrespectful, or unappreciative kid---there is always a humble, appreciative, down-to-earth heir/offsrping/kid to counteract your perceived "stereotypes" of wealthy children....but I guess in America's social "pop culture" we are programmed to always highlight negative stereotpyes/be hateful/be jealous, rather than thinking for ourselves, appreciating reality, and (gasp!) actually being happy for the wealthy ones who are "normal".

Not necessarily. I think it's all in how you were raised, whether you are poor or wealthy. I know lots of wealthy people who are down-to-earth and make their kids do chores and don't let their kids have whatever they want even though they can very easily afford it......then again, I also know poor people who let their kids run all over them and get them anything they want even though they can't afford it. So there could be both extremes, and vice-versa's.

I'm sure what you see on TV (the unruly, unappreciative kids) is just for show to help MTV's ratings, just like all of their "reality" shows are staged.

But if they're not so lucky, the case with the vast majority, it will be going without enough to eat, adequate shelter, basic medical care, clean clothes, etc.

Now, if somebody could show me how Combs getting a $350,000 car will make it possible for him to do something in the world that saves others' lives or deeply enriches others' lives, then maybe I might look at things differently. But as far as I see it now, the return on this investment in human potential will be a complete and total loss.

I watched CBS Reality on the satellite this afternoon, there was a program about real life trauma room. A 15yo kid got taken in found wrapped around the engine block after driving and crashing. He survived, but had both femurs broken, as well as other injuries.

At 16, I think a powerful car like that would only encourage the kid to show off. I hope he doesn't end up in hospital and make his dad regret his largesse.

WRT the huge gift to his son, it could be something to do with taxes...

I agree with you wholeheartedly, and that could also be the case with a kid in a '85 Nissan Sentra as well (so it's not all about the car, so much as the person driving it)----but the fact you are failing to realize in this instance is that:

1) a Maybach is to be chauffeured, not driven.
2) his father provided him with a chauffeur for the purposes of the son not having his license.

My point was I think the car is ugly and not worth $360,000 i'm not sure why that was difficult for you to understand.

Wake-up call: this happens everyday. This is nothing new, it happened with the Gotti's, the Hilton's, the Walton's....I can go on and on.

Who says it's personally Mr. Combs' responsibility to fund every child's education/lifestyle with his money?? He is a citizen of these United States just like anyone else is. Lots of celeb children never get an education, but get spoiled even more lavishly than Justin (a la Paris Hilton, Angelina Jolie, the Osbourne kids, etc). So why single him out? It's very premature to go assuming things without facts. You can't go bashing the kid already for something that he has, or hasn't done yet. In two years, we will see the results----and then I will respect your assumption as a valid point.
