In the trailer for “Transporter 3,” Jason Statham (in character as the tactiturn commando-turned-courier Frank Martin) is very clearly seen making out with sexy costar Natalya Rudakova –- a stunning development for anyone intimately acquainted with the car-chase-crazy, karate-tastic French-financed action franchise.

In 2005, Louis Leterrier, the director of “Transporter 2” (and also credited as "artistic director" of the first “Transporter”) told me he created a gay subtext for the character so as to avoid making a “Steven Seagal kind of movie.”

"If you watch the movie and you know he's gay, it becomes so much more fun," Leterrier said then. "It's so great -- the first gay action movie hero!” He continued: “Action fans in general are pretty homophobic. You see these tough guys who say, ' "The Transporter," that's such a great movie!’ If they only knew they're really cheering for a new kind of action hero.”

Awww, dammit. I really enjoyed the first Transporter, but I didn't catch the gay subtext. I think that's pretty cool, though.

Also, wasn't Agent 47 sort of gay in the first Hitman game? I remember him being all grossed out after this high-class female escort kissed him.

I haven't seen a single Transporter movie.

But he is cute and I didn't know his character was gay.

Well I caught the gay subtext. And I love the movies. Yeah, they're totally silly but I like them.

When did the first Transporter movie come out? I think I was 15, and I wasn't out (well, I had actually convinced myself I was bi , that foolishness ended rather quickly) so I didn't catch the gay subtext.

there's one scene where the ultra hot and the ultra vulnerable woman tries to kiss the transporter (and it's clear that's where the story is supposed to go); but he refuses, saying that he won't kiss her because of "who he is" (those exact word).

(there's even a long awkward silence afterwards when she realizes that he's gay).

And he's not saving a chick in the second movie.. he's saving a little boy who idolizes him.

I hadn't seen any of the Transporter films until recently. When I saw the trailer for 3 I figured that maybe there was something worth a look. Oh stupid, misguided fool! I saw the first film on TV so I watched it. Can't say I spotted any gay subtext. I can say that I am owed 90 minutes of my life which I will never get back. An absolute steaming turd of a film. Utter nonsense.

well it came out when i used to toke a lot of reefer and drink a lot of esspresso.

and it had fast camera work, motorcycles, explosions, gunfire, yelling, fighting, and a public sex scene. so it held my attention.
