Though I'm not a Mariah fan, this is her only song that I really liked. The rest are all crap. This song just hits me right in the gut! Heart-wrenching I should say.
An unfinished demo MIA recorded before Vicki Leekx
Dedicated to Amy Winehouse
LYRICS:
said your all mouth and no brains
all rock stars go to heaven
you said you'll be dead at 27 seven
when we drunk in a English tavern
the owner poured you the Bourbon
and you drunk your self so rotten
so he got so rich he bought a Bentley
and moved himself to Devon
you started dirty dancing
and you bar tended a dozen
i took you to the clinic
to get you clean but you couldn't
said in 2 days ur 27 and and ur destiny was comin
so ur papa passed so sudden
and left you with lil somin
you blew that money on a mountain of drugs
and staged your self a bed in
a month later when i popped in
your still high but the winter set in
i bought you a coffee and a muffin
and you quoted me some Lenin
i wished i was that clever
but thats what kept me coming
your friendship did mean somin
but you left me for nothin
when i left, you befriended a rope
and i saw you both were hanging.
one of the most underrated and saddest songs ever :(

Re: saddest song you ever heard?
I see a woman in the night with a baby in her hands
there's no street light near a garbage can
Now she puts the kid away and she's gonna get a hit
She hates the life and what she's done to it
Now there's one more kid that'll never go to school
Never get to fall in love
....never get to be cool
KEEP ON ROCKIN' IN THE FREE WORLD!

Re: saddest song you ever heard?
Not the saddest but surely one that evokes
serious melancholy for me, would have to be
(Ghost) Riders in the Sky, written by Sam Jones and
done by damn near everybody who is anybody.
or its bastard child, a sort of bio of Jim Morrison,
the Doors...Riders on the Storm

Not sure if I posted this or not but it makes me cry easily.

Re: saddest song you ever heard?
Sorry if this has already been posted (I couldn't get through ever page of this thread) but as someone who grew up super close to his grandmother and than having her pass away (its been 11 years) this song just totally captures what I feel about my grandmom. Heck before my grandmom passed I used to hear this song and cry just thinking about the day she would be gone.
I don't have anything against country music, just not a big fan. I have my fav but its old stuff. Loretta Lynn is the Queen and enjoy her stuff and her last cd with Jack White was great. Miss Being Mrs was a touching song.
Yesterday
Yesterday,
All those backups seemed a waste of pay.
Now my database has gone away.
Oh I believe in yesterday.
Suddenly,
There's not half the files there used to be,
And there's a milestone hanging over me
The system crashed so suddenly.
I pushed something wrong
What it was I could not say.
Now all my data's gone
and I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay.
Yesterday,
The need for back-ups seemed so far away.
I knew my data was all here to stay,
Now I believe in yesterday.

Re: saddest song you ever heard?
Ignore the opening chat if you will, but listen to the song. I miss Harry Chapin so much, even though he makes me cry every time I hear some of his songs.
A lot of good and interesting choices on the board. Here are some of my takes on the saddest tunes playing on my iPod. :D
Patty Loveless - Don't Toss Us Away (Sad memories for sure.)

Dwight Yoakam - Nothing (I love Dwight Yoakam, his brand of country I love)

The Rankin Family - Fare Thee Well (Sad because it is)
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rY1SR0oaLww[/ame]
Mabel John - Your Good Thing (Is About To Come To an End) (Heard this years ago and recently in a movie, very good)
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WzLexvpy_qA[/ame]
Luba - Nore More Words (Tonight)
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcGneQjGBc8[/ame]
Lionel Richies - Hello (A bit overused as of late but still a good song)
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_ILDFp5DGA[/ame]
The London Quire Boys - I Don't Love You Anymore
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLreTpnUWX8[/ame]
George Michael - One More Try
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bG5N3GC-m20&ob=av2e[/ame]
Moby - My Weakness (Used on the X-Files series in one key episode, very very sad)
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jhj8guT4f-I[/ame]
Zucchero (Feat. Paul Young) - Senza Una Donna (Without A Woman) (I imagine a remake by Enrique Iglesias and Justin Timberlake murdering this song. uggh... now that's sad)
