Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
who knew ?? really
that these 2 would find each other
all u need is an ocean, some sand and some bathing suits
Peggy Noonan sums it grandly referencing the "interview" of the 2 lovebirds
60 Minutes clearly has joined Team Obama
Peggy says it much better than I ....... and she's spot on
some pearls for the believers - with Peggy asking the questions instead of Steve "i have a bulge in my pants" Kroft
Quote:
Mr. President, does your foreign policy really come out of the White House, even out of its political office, and not the State Department? Has the department's ability to formulate policy and be a player in terms of the development of grand strategy been diminished? Her first year in office Mrs. Clinton looked like someone who'd been put on a plane and told to do interviews on "Good Morning Manila" about how she met Bill. What do you say?
Quote:
Mrs. Clinton, some think you held your tongue, made the best of a bad situation, worked the areas you could, moved forward on issues of particular concern like women's rights; that you dummied up on Benghazi, demolished your congressional critics in one masterly day of testimony, and now have been rewarded for your loyalty and discretion with a joint presidential interview that amounts to an anointment for 2016. Can you comment?"
and Peggy sums it up nicely
Quote:
There is nothing wrong with being a declared liberal or conservative and conducting a sympathetic interview with a political figure who shares your views. Such interviews have their place and can be useful: a nondefensive, nonwary president elaborates on his thoughts, or commits accidental candor. But Mr. Kroft is a reporter whose job it is to be impartial and nonpartisan, and who works for a towering journalistic institution, "60 Minutes."
People like him are supposed to approach political figures with no fear or favor.
Their job is to grill. What are they afraid of?

Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
It is quite remarkable that two very intelligent and very liberal leaders in our country could so adroitly lead this nation back from the brink of so many failures at the end of the last administration. Some the fault of that admin and some the fault of multiple admins and our system. Thus restoring our economy and international image in such a short but incredible time. A love we all were thirsty for in a nation of the driest loins.
-
Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
^^^It's wonderful to have two smart, really good people who are rational and care about the country--much like Franklin and Eleanor many years ago-- to step forward and save this country from the crazies---history repeats itself.

I agree with you and JayHawk on this one. Absolutely. We have two people who truly care about America and it's future... and setting this country on the right course. Just 5 years ago this country was confronted with one of the worst recessions in decades which wiped out millions of jobs and savings... President Obama and Hillary dedicated themselves to this country, and the administration has led this country back to a stable economic footing with solid growth.
All of this in spite of constant sabotage attempts by the opposing party.

or perhaps a sponsor

Yawn. More tired haiku trolling.
Just when I was starting to get used to seeing full, actual paragraphs on CE & P.....

Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
I like good background music as long as it isn't Ted Nugent:lol: And sponsors are what the USA is all about.:-)

Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
Maybe I can recreate the past month's "no haiku troll" feeling by just using the ignore feature...
...but missing all the hilarious derp just wouldn't be worth it.
On the other hand, I can just duplicate the experience by turning on my TV to Bill O'Reilly and my radio to Glen Beck and cranking them up to full volume.

and easier for the hard working moderators

If that sentence were any more ironic, Alanis Morrisette would have to write a song about it. She can call it "Moronic".

Reminder: Peggy Noonan was one of St. Ronald's speech writers. I don't think she is well-known for her objectivity. Neither am I, but I don't work for the WSJ.

Remind me again why anyone should give a shit about what Peggy Noonan thinks about Hillary and Barack's business partnership? Are we going to ask the cast of Buckwild for their thoughts on US-China relations next? Maybe Time magazine will interview Honey Boo Boo and see if the effect of Greece's economic troubles on the European dollar makes her holler.

Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
Yeah, yeah...Hillary and Barrack are in luurve!
Does it ever bother you that you're wasting your life posting pointless and baseless drivel about people you don't know personally?
You're like those 14 year old boys that spend hours on Justin Bieber message boards typing "JUSTIN IZ A HOMO!", or the idiots that infest YouTube spouting stupid, spiteful crap out of boredom and for attention.
Cant wait to see your upcoming thread about the torrid secret love affair between Michelle Obama and the rotting corpse of William Howard Taft.

Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
clearly it was a terrific journalistic moment for 60 minutes
to perform oral sex on the president and his SOS on ONE SHOW
the role of news organizations first and foremost is to give good sloppy head to certain people
tough questions ???
and the silliness of giving peggy shit - when her piece is tame - is more proof that it wasn't read
it was commented on - but not read
clearly

Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
No matter what the bulk of the peanut gallery says, glad you're back. I'll take haiku over smug know it all-ishness any day, thank you
very much. I don't always agree with you , chance but it's a lot better here with you around than anyone gives you credit for. And if you are thought of as a right wing troll, well screw them ..you've shown a lot more genuineness, independence and nuance than I've seen from most anyone on the other side in the fingers alone you use to post!
Getting to the topic...the crap out of that interview was blatantly disingenuous as I have ever seen. If I were Joe Biden, I'd be crtying myself to sleep at night over this newfound "lovefest"...truth is she used him and he used her, and they both accomplished their purposes in this tawdry political arrangement.

Biden can only hope for a Hillary medical moment at this point - o/w he's the guy standing in the way of the first woman president
he was sold down the river by Obama - who's all about Obama
Biden for all his flaws is real - legit - speaks his mind
as for peggy's piece - her POINT which the gallery did not read but condemned - was that of course hillary and president redistribution wanted a piece like that - but without 60m and steve kroft's willingness to kneel down it can't happen
-

You're praising some dude that posts inane crap in pseudo-Haiku and serves up warmed over talking points from extremely biased right-wing sources. He's about as genuine and nuanced as a mahogany desk.

Well Chance...you'd know about the moderators having to work hard.....and God only knows what the second sentence even means.
But to the topic. What's your problem with the relationship? Does it make you sad that two political rivals managed to work so well together in the first 4 year term? Is that it?
And honestly, as much as I like Peggy Noonan, she would have been far more credible today if she'd used here talents over the last twelve years trying to help prevent the Republicans she works on behalf of turn into the intellectually and morally bankrupt party they have become.
And to be honest....she is a much better writer than interviewer.

Boy you have really changed in your language and writing style over the past yr or so.
I liked it better when you had a job and were bragging about all the different places you were traveling to, the nice weather, and the fancy upper tier restaurants you were eating in and what fabulous city you would be in the next day.
Whats next the word cunt in one of the post regarding Pres. Obama or Hillary?

Some around here in this forum have argued...*wiping up the drink that I just shot threw my noes onto my keyboard*...that if not for Uncle Joe...Obama would have never had to publicly "come out" on his position regarding Gay Marriage, or why his DOJ wouldn't be defending DOMA.
And Hillary, she was just married to the guy who signed DOMA into law.
What a Love Story between Obama and Hillary! :hump:
Poor Peggy, she couldn't really go after Steve Kroft as being a media whore with out coming across as one herself.
I think that's called "credibility." ;)

i think you're wildly off topic
sort of a common practice
but back to topic
60 Minutes used to have a standard that they operated by
Mike Wallace, Morley Safer - good journalists who had a POV but the story was the thing - and it was hard journalism
Steve Kroft was starstruck it appears
surprised Beyonce wasn't with them for the interview right ?
she could've held Barack's cue cards ;)
LOL

i don't recall u ever sharing in hot topics when i posted "a day in the life" - so your "interest" is curious
and your timing/content is off
not a "fancy upper tier restaurant" guy save for big occassions

None of the Mods (including myself) deleted it, so it's still a matter of public record on your part. :p
I'd provide the source link to it, but then I'd be in violation of our CE&P posting guidelines, and since I helped write them, I couldn't possibly be a party to that.

Hillary did nada as SOS btw - other than logging mucho miles
not sure how that constitutes anything other than lots of little bottles of liquor and jet lag
accomplishments to speak of ?
i like her but obama's claim that she is the one of the best SOS ever is based on nothing but partisan drivel
and 60 minutes never should have done the piece if it wasn't going to require answering some tough questions
it's a NEWS program not entertainment

I'm supposing that without google searches you can sit and make a list from memory of all the huge accomplishments of former Secretaries of State? Since apparently Hillary fell so far short of your expectations.
-
Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
Are you serious? Hilary was the first international face of America to tell the world "if you discriminate against LGBTs, you are not going to receive help from us". I know in closet NY world that's nada, but come on, Chance :/

You very much implied she did nothing or not enough in her role.
What's your basis for making that innuendo?

i can't think of any particular accomplishments
none worthy of being described as the best ever
your move or rather pres. obama's - not mine
-
Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
Why shouldn't I apply the gay litmus test? It could quite literally save hundreds of thousands of lives in Africa. Calling that "nada" (which btw means "nothing", so you didn't even imply it, you right out SAID it) is delusional.

keep twisting - just don't get dizzy
your point is that she's saving hundreds of thousands of lives in africa ?
please show me
and i didn't say "it" was nada
so don't be so sloppy ok ?

Re: Hillary and Barack - A Love Story
Sloppy can be sexy. Regardless, "it" is part of THEM - her accomplishments as SoS. And I can't show you unkilled people O.o But even Uganda's delaying of the Kill the Gays Bill is a result of the the US and UN international attitude toward discriminating LGBTs, which she has contributed greatly for.

Considering the gay witch-hunts that go on in Africa, I would say "hundreds of thousand" (and I said "it could", not "she has") isn't a bad estimation. No more evidence is needed than the stance the US has taken in international politics through her.
