What you get isn't what you see.
Look at this picture, a sculpture by artist Jonty Hurwitz:

It's a frog behind a curved pile of. . . something, right?
Well, take a little 'spin':

And here is the 'stuff' when viewed from the other side:

Clever play with perspective and the properties of reflection on a curved surface.

Yeah. This.
Re: What you get isn't what you see.
Wow. This takes me back!!!
When I was a kid, I had this coloring book, with a "Genie" with a curved mirror that basically did the same thing. You colored the pages, then used the Genie to see what the image really was. Very same principal.
I'd forgotten all about it.

Invasion of the body snatchers! Looks like my last date.
Re: What you get isn't what you see.
It's called anamorphosis; the desired image can only be seen when looked from a certain fixed perspective/method.\
This does not only apply to sculptures, but also painting (like the infamous street 3-D art).
Funny I was just looking at these stuffs several days ago.

It's like online profile pictures on dating sites...posting pictures of themselves slim and fit 10 years ago. What you get isn't what you see. "The desired image can only be seen when looked from a certain fixed perspective/method."

Re: What you get isn't what you see.
A novel frog idea. Cartographers would have been proud.

So, what is that thing the frog is sitting behind?
