Seems to me that Morning Joe is probably one of the few TV shows that the majority of those who watch from CE+P enjoy - or at least can tolerate
I DVR every day - try to catch some of the show in the AM or that night or whenever - lately not doing as well
Anyway I thought it would be a good idea to do this where people can post things they saw/heard and perhaps converse about it
I'm watching this am's now and Joe is apologizing to Mika for going off on her recently - I missed it
I gather they were discussing the Obama cabinet and Mike said something to the effect that Joe was chauvinistic - Joe says "he went to a dark place" ;) He's making NY Resolutions btw
1 - he won't blow up at Mika ever again
2 - he's going to try to interrupt Mika less
3 - next time to the WH, he's not going to poop in his pants
they're discussing colin powell's sunday am diatribe against the republican party as out of touch
joe is upset that he's considered a "moderate" as if that's a dirty word
mike barnacle is ripping lindsey graham as a former moderate voice who is now concerned about being re-elected so he's more of a right wing ideologue
where's willie giest ? love him
where's mark halperin? love him
joe is calling the far right republicans "idiots"
says they didn't really know the man they revere - Ronald Reagan - who was a pragmatist not an ideologue
says that Colin Powell could help the Republicans out - but instead they loathe him

Re: Morning Joe - Daily Thread
I think the apology is from last weeks episode where Joe lost his fucking marbles because Mika said she thought Joe was being a Chauvinist. Joe literally used the remainder of the time slot acting upset and then when they came back from commercial he wasted an entire time slot just acting childish about it. They literally cut to break in about half the normal time and when they returned both Mika and Joe were not on the show until the end of the day and then only Mika returned. It was obvious he had an episode of how righteous he was and how unfair it was for someone to suggest he was incorrect in his thinking. Joe is incredibly intelligent and fails to accept criticism easily.
He actually made me think of you TBQH. His sabotage of several time slots just to pout was similar in many ways. To be fair I am just as pigheaded but as my Siggie says... "I am trying"

Re: Morning Joe - Daily Thread
TBH I kind of despise Barnacle. He is smart but amazingly boring which makes me wonder how he is a news entity. I usually get more from the guests. That show has a great behind the scenes vibe. Ever notice the next up who are waiting in the wings are usually smiling and comfortable being there. I think that leads to better interviews.
The best I have seen recently was Spielberg talking Lincoln and then the concepts of movie making, research and the current view of "Zero Dark Thirty". Spielberg then turns it back onto today's inept politicians without really saying a word about them and their current dysfunctional methods. It was a fascinating comparison.
And for you it wasn't a compliment or a slight. You just have a tendency to NEVER let go and move on when someone slights you and it distracts from an evolving conversation.

we are different
barnacle has heart - he has soul - he's real - he never mugs for the camera which i like about him - often he seems tired on the set as if getting up that early is a chore - his take on warren/brown and his knowledge of the every county in massachusetts i thought was gold
i agree about the vibe thing - it's clear to me that they all sorta like each other - they poke fun - they talk about sports - it's jocular w/o being mindless - sometimes they go off on a tangent and u can see mika is the only one pissed - although she seems to have chilled for the better IMO
sorta reminds me of howard stern in that people who it appears are very uninteresting - or not so interesting - howard brings out the best
donald trump is an absolute boor - on howard he's gold
steve rattner is deathly dull - on Morning Joe he's not only got a pulse but a personality
i wish they would jettison donny deutsch - i know people who have worked for him - major DICK
and in the spirit of agreement ....... hehe

Love the show---and OMG--for the first time ever agree with all your takes on everyone (especially Howard)---except that if Joe spends one more year living in Manhattan and reading the Times---he should become a Blue Dog Dem as the GOP is no place for a guy with his kind of common sense.

Actually, there seems to still be some real tension there between Mika and Joe.
I think that some real damage was done last week by him behaving like a three year old with a grab bag of emotions. they now remind me of a married couple who have lost some of the trust they had in one another and now look ready to jump at the least provocation, or in Mika's case..to just be slightly dismissive.
We still catch them every morning though.

^ Joe has come a long way ............. and is a whole lot better than when he started ........ with much room for improvement
Joe opened the show with the NY Daily News "Appy Anniversary" - an NRA app that allows young children to use assault weapons on an iPhone app - OMG
Joe says the NRA has been commandeered and turned into a company FOR SURVIVALISTS only
Harold Ford on the panel - NRA supporter - Joe says in the mid 1990's it changed
Joe says the polls are shifting away from the NRA due to their actions since Sandy Hook
Polls in:
58% support ban on assault weapons - 39 opposed
it's "upside down" says Joe - due to NRA extremism
88% support background checks at gun shows before purchase
"buying guns is not the issue" says Harold Ford
Mika thinks the "rush on guns" is crazy - she's beside herself
65% support ban on high capacity ammunition clips
so much for no commentary on gun control ;)

Mika is lucky to have a job on the show. If it weren't for her short skirts, good looks, and hot body she'd be reading news on Current TV or working as a receptionist for slimy Donnie Douche.
Mika continually promotes Obama as supportive of women's issues and totally was off base supporting all the fact that Obama has not appointed any new women to his cabinet. Joe was right to give her a hard time.

Why do you even try chance, when it comes to these people? President Obama as Senator Obama was talking like the GOP hardliners back then, even came strongly out for presidental leadership on the debt issue, tearing Bush down on his performance. I'll take chance than all the know it alls on the left who will never concede a point or seriously discuss an issue other than to point to arguments favorable to their ideological self-certitude and of course, condescendingly( but lovingly) pooh pooing anything to the contrary.
It would be nice to get back on topic, so I shall.... not so much a morning person so I haven't seen Joe much since he was pushed out of their primetime lineup(oh joy...unhinged with a nice serving of snark followed by more unhinged, and that's even after Olbermann exited, stage left!) but I guess I have to tape it sometimes, far more fair and balanced than the prime time shows on either Fox or MSNBC. Joe's got a bit of an edge but at least he's trying to really be independent from other talkers on the right. Maybe there's part of him that is kind of upset that he has to have Mika as a counterbalance of some sort, as he was always very compellingby himself in prime time, though it seems the morning shows always work better with more than one host. I don't think he's a jerk, compared to the other egos on the network he's sensible and at least capable of introspection and open minded.

Obama sees Congress as an obstacle ... an unnecessary burden ... rather than a partner in our three branches of government.
Obama needs to get of his superiority complex, roll up his sleeves and start to solve the country's problems. Our economy is still in shambles, people have been without work for record lengths, the economy is stagnant.
The campaign is over -- he won -- now time to lead.

We don't take the notion that Bush, the largest spender in U.S. history, whom the Republicans raised the debt ceiling for multiple times, to be credible recent backdrop from which to even remotely believe the concept that Republicans are saying no to Obama because of his fiscal irresponsibility.
Nor should we. There's no reason to accept such an illogical claim. Call that everything you'd like to, the position you're defending makes no sense whatsoever and no one with a brain should take it seriously.

That is funny. Truly. That you find an obsessiveness in the hate for mythical sports mascots to which I have no link whatsoever. I leave it to your mind to work through why I am called Jay Hawk that has nothing to do with Kansas - and never has.
That aside I guarantee Overland Park is by far more diverse than a city like say Harrisonville. You know as a relative example of rural Missouri demographics.
Lets just use the good ole internets and work it out...mmmmkay?
And didn't you tell us that you were not white so we were all wrong about your race assumptions.... so if you were not lying... which I doubt .....then congrats on living with that other 95% racial diversity...lol. It must broaden your horizon.
SO while Overland park is barely more ethnic than Harrisonville I would wager that the Ethiopian, Thai, Indian, TexMex, Authentic Mexican and Italian heritage in the area is a damn sight more diverse. In fact, the multitude of ethnic choices in the area are the reasoning among others for choosing this spot among all of the ignorant backwater choices in Missouri and Kansas. I also live between a Synagogue and a Mosque. How many of those in your area Jacky Poo?
A guy from rural Missouri calling anywhere else on earth out for lacking in racial diversity. You are always giving me a great laugh Jack. Thanks for making me feel so good about my life.
And yes I called you out because this thread was actually rather civil and productive until you popped in with the same old fucking drivel that you post in every thread. It is rather tiring, uninformed and lacking logic. But it is definitely your right to post it. Just as it is my right to say it lacks any value whatsoever.
