cannot upload pictures, tried following the tutorial, please help!
Hi guys,
I have been trying to upload pictures I have to the amateur showcase section in replies as well as new threads, and every time I try, I get to the point where I can select the file on my computer, but when it goes to upload, a red exclamation point appears with the error message:
500 [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventsPhrase=2 text="Error#2038"]
I will link to a tinypic picture of a screenshot of the event: http://i50.tinypic.com/3bg5t.png
the images are below the max allowed dimensions and size, and I am really not sure where to go from here, having followed the JUB tutorial and getting the same result.
thanks in advance for any help!! im looking forward to posting my pics :)

Can't see the pic, but it sounds like a flash error. You can try updating your flash version, or if this doesn't help, turn off the enhanced uploader here:

Re: cannot upload pictures, tried following the tutorial, please help!
both dont work :( basic uploader allows me to select the file but nothing happens when I try to upload it. i've tried on my thinkpad, and my gateway desktop, and my macbook using chrome, firefox, safari, all with the latest flash versions installed and reinstalled. i've tried putting my pictures into jpg and png, all with dimensions lower than 1200x1200 and less than 200kb. it really sounds like this is an error on the admin end with the uploader :S

Re: cannot upload pictures, tried following the tutorial, please help!
the last replies in this thread: http://www.justusboys.com/forum/thre...-upload-photos seem to be the same issue, speculating that it is the uploader that is broken

Re: cannot upload pictures, tried following the tutorial, please help!
the thing is that the uploader is the same for everyone. and if even the normal uploader doesn't work, it more think about a problem on your end. maybe some kind of overzealous firewall or virus software.

another broken uploader? well, damn!

Re: cannot upload pictures, tried following the tutorial, please help!
I have AVG on my pcs, no antivirus on my mac. Nothing works. because of the variety of computers, browsers, and operating systems I try, I can conclude that there is no way this is a problem on my end. I don't have a problem with any other sites in any capacity. Even on different wifi networks, as well as tethering my 3G connection from my phone.
this is very frustrating to keep being told it's my problem, when I have been trying to solve it for months. I would like some help to be able to do this simple task (uploading pictures), because it's what this website is all about.
So to recap:
uploader won't work. pics are correct size, format and dimensions, antivirus or no antivirus, wifi or 3g, chrome or firefox, latest versions of flash installed or reinstalled, and seeing that other people are having the same problem unsolved.
this isn't my fault, I would really like some help please!

Re: cannot upload pictures, tried following the tutorial, please help!
There ARE a couple of reports of an issue with Windows 8 (see link below), but not so much with any other OSs. In Firefox, it is sometimes beneficial to revert to the previous version of Flash as Adobe and Mozilla are always out of sync with their upgrades. This shouldn't affect the YUI interface as it works with Flash 9.xx onwards.

That said, are you clicking on the image uploader button in the toolbar, or going into 'advanced' mode and using the 'Manage Attachments' button?
Also, Corny, is it possible that some of these members unable to upload attachments have somehow been put into a different usergroup than registered members? The ability to upload attachments can be turned on/off for specific usergroups. Just a thought.

thanks for the reply! I will try downgrading my version of flash in Firefox. Also, I am going into the advanced mode, and using the manage attachments button most of the times I've tried. I tried using the toolbar once. both times don't work. I've even tried uploading pictures on my profile page; that doesn't work either. I have tried the regular and basic uploaders as well. fingers crossed changing my flash version works!

Of course it is possible, but then they would either not see the upload button or get an error message from the forum - not from flash.

Re: cannot upload pictures, tried following the tutorial, please help!
honestly guys im just gonna close my account. I don't want to show myself off badly enough to go through all of this effort. its disappointing because I really wanted to be part of the community here, and have been trying for months. I will check this thread every few weeks to see if there's been a breakthrough, but until then. all the best, goodbye!

#-o Of course!
Corny, you'll probably understand this more than me, but maybe this points to something. I know it's 4 years old, but it's the same problem, AND is still an issue for some with vBulletin4.x.x today.

Re: cannot upload pictures, tried following the tutorial, please help!
^ I have read this before, but it doesn't seem to be the problem here.
- only very few people have this problem. the author writes about a problem that was persistent on the server. even if this would be limited to just one of our servers, many more people would see the problem (see the broken christmas lights when one of the servers didn't sync and many people were suddenly getting error messages in between)
- the problem does persist with the people who have the problem. if it were just one server, it should work at another time when they end up at a working server. if it were all the servers - it would affect all users.
