I've served both with a support group for gay and lesbian youth and also at a crisis center for gay adults. The amount of times I have seen escorts (and sometimes Johns) beat up, robbed, infected... it's heartbreaking. No exaggeration I assure you. And if so many horrible things can happen in a small region like New Brunswick or Newfoundland, what do you think happens in larger regions with a more diverse population?
I find it rather demeaning to the victims of violence and the sick to dismiss these events so readily. One really must consider these things when making a decision as critical as this.
