I've come to two conclusions..
One very suspect person has left the building and another refuses to stop stirring the pot.
Very interesting indeed.

At the very least, it is odd that this site is willing to maintain online cemetery plots with no bodies/no proof that a real person actually died, yet omits the very real and well-documented Tyler Clementi.
It’s disgraceful, actually. Might as well have a plot in there for Dobby.

Well ... if that is meant for me, then I can see how you can reach that conclusion because I've been a bit of a jerk in this thread. In 10,000 posts this is the most controversial I have ever been here. Usually I just make the odd silly comment here and there without really adding anything of significance to the discussion. Perhaps it should have stayed that way. :)

You are overlooking some things, Ky. Boston Pilate also said Andreus was first his student, then his colleague and ultimately a tenant in a property he claimed to own. Don't you think a teacher, colleague and landlord, not to mention a friend in real life would know his name?

Re: Tell me more about Andreus
On another forum which had a membership measuring in only the hundreds, I became close to a man whose death was imminent. I enjoyed personal, face-time relationships with some of the forum members, and a few of us hoped to do whatever we could on behalf of our terminal friend: money, time, travel, compassion, etc. We cared (and even now, I do care) about this individual.
It's hard for me to explain my sense of stupendous idiocy, humiliation, betrayal and devastation when it turned out that my friend had been deceiving us about his health. I had spent tears--I had wept--on his behalf only to find out they were suckered.
I have no personal interest in Andreus, except that I enjoyed his posts.
On the other hand, I think such a deceit would be viscerally damaging.
I hope there's no truth to it because of the very real hurt such a betrayal could cause.

you're on to something. bostonpirate has some explaining to do. if you ask me, he's the prime suspect.

As I recall, the ENTIRE Garden of Memories got lost when JUB was upgraded. I'm rather surprised that nobody has been able to find Tyler's thread, though, and move it...presumably it should still be in the archives. I don't remember his username, and I can't remember any *UNCOMMON/RARE* key word that would have been in that thread. (If it was a thread about pumpernickel bread instead, it would be very easy to find.) I already tried finding it once, so I could send the link to a Mod and suggest the thread be moved to GoM, but I had no success.

Could it be that Andreus was paranoid enough, that he worked with a fake ID? All he had to do was to change a couple letters in his real last name, and he probably had the resources to get a fake ID, and he may have been living much of his life under an alias.
In other words, he could *still* be real, and the untraceability of his name wouldn't mean anything.

Sure, it's possible. It's possible he was CIA, it's possible he was Interpol, it's possible he was Greek intelligence, it's possible he faked his death before coming here and assumed an all new name, it's possible he lied about his name.
It's just imho a very fair/reasonable thing to say that the more complicated you need to get in order to keep the persona he presented consistent, the less likely it's genuine.
-
Re: Tell me more about Andreus
Frank, weirder things have happened, I guess, but since he was employed here, went to school here and had health care here he would have needed a social security number and to have paid income taxes and FICA. That would almost require assuming someone else's identity, wouldn't it?

Yup, why did this thread even get started?
I know how it was started, but it goes onto 10 pages!
It's like a race thread, goes on and on and on.

There has never been a memorial thread for Tyler Clementi.
The only Tyler Clementi thread that ever appeared in the Garden of Memories was a locked down fucking crime scene - a disgusting presentation of JUB on its own.
Not that I would want to see that back up, but if JUB’s lawyers don’t have a copy of that on file then they’re not worth cold piss. I’m sure the FBI kept a copy of it.

When I first arrived here, Andreus seemed the most popular member of JUB (together with Soilwork).

I can find no other place on the Internet besides JUB where people tell the truth as much as they do.
For example, you will find JUBbers who admit that 1) they feel ugly 2)they feel obese 3) they suffer from mental illness, or 4) they suffer from SPS.
I myself admit to my flaws, and endeavor to work on them. If I have lied on this board, I can't remember it. I really am a 50 year-old man who has no hair, struggles with mild depression, acts eccentric, and wears a monocle.
I believe the "truthtellers" outnumber the phonies by far.

If there was some such people-search website which gave an annual or lifetime membership, I'd consider joining it (if it's verified to be the "real deal" and a good source).
If anything, seeing that Andreus very likely was perhaps the most elaborate sock puppet in JUB history, makes me (if anything) ALL THE MORE curious about the *real* person behind the posts. (If that person happens to be reading this, and you tell me it was you, Sloppy Seconds, I won't tell...any secret will go to the grave with me.)
I remember him, he lifted pictures "of him" from a European model's website or something. I actually interacted with him a little bit after he was busted. I've always hoped that my interaction with him gave at least a bit of solace to a person who obviously was plagued with a troubled soul (and even that choice of username was sort of a signal of that).
Frank, three points to address:
Point 1: Peoplefinders dot com doesn't charge you anything to find out the city in which a person lives, or his age. You have to pay, though, to get the telephone number and address.
I have used it very many times over the years, and I have drawn up a blank only once (for a real person, that is.)
Professional private detectives prefer LexusNexus dot com, however, because they see it as the most accurate one. However, you have to pay for everything there.
Point 2: I agree. While I feel hurt, disappointed, and dismayed to learn of Andreus's fakery, I now feel pretty amazed at the complexity of the character that the puppeteer drew up for us. I believe that it shows a man with a most remarkable imagination--a creative genius.
Point 3:Somebody mentioned the pictures. The pictures I saw look very much like the pictures of that Juan-guy--the actor in Mexico, The man in the second picture, in particular, looks exactly like the same man I saw in the pictures "Andreus" sent me.
I have no doubt now that, at the very least, "Andreus" told us a pack of lies.

Re: Tell me more about Andreus
^Someone gave me his other "real" last name.
For the record, I ran the "real" name through all the databases, too. I came up with a complete blank. No other name even came close.
I have no choice to conclude with finality that the identity of Andreus Thanos came from someone's vivid imagination, and has never existed in reality.

This is actually quite surprising.
Did no one keep a pic of Andreus that he sent them?
Reverse pic search would categorically prove at least whether he lied about his pics.

Re: Tell me more about Andreus
^ That is very close to the truth and he was very good at the job! He lead many Jubbers a great dance over a very long period, I always had my doubts some of his activities did not ring true. In respect of pics sent over the internet they mean nothing even if sent on a personal basis.

Just out of interest's sake, where do you think he claimed he was?
Because a whole bunch of people were certain he was claiming to be the man in a blog photo of some juan martin berberian, but he never claimed that was a picture of himself, and posted a different self-pic on here. Berberian was just some guy he thought was hot.

I'd rather see BP speak to this point but I wonder if a teacher would think it is ethical to confirm a student's name in this venue, particularly in this thread, just for the edifying feeling of saying "i told you so."

Re: Tell me more about Andreus
I don't see why all the confusion:
Wikipedia:
Quote:
Andreus (Ancient Greek: Ἀνδρεύς) was the son of the river-god Peneus in Thessaly, from whom the district about Orchomenos in Boeotia was called Andreis.[1] In another passage Pausanias speaks of Andreus (it is, however, uncertain whether he means the same man as the former) as the person who first colonized the island of Andros.[2] According to Diodorus Siculus, Andreus was one of the generals of Rhadamanthys, from whom he received the island afterwards called Andros as a present.[3] Stephanus of Byzantium[4], Conon[5] and Ovid[6] call this first colonizer Andrus (son of Anius) and not Andreus.[7] With Evippe, daughter of Leucon, Andreus had a son Eteocles, his successor.[8]

You mean the multifaceted object of our curiosity whose memory on this board has been regurgitated by a new poster - now a guest - named Enchanted whose purpose in inviting our contributions could well also confirm that Andreus is alive and well with a continuing need to feed his ego driven sense of superior intelligence?

^ Yo, good news! Enchanted has been reincarnated as Sex Kitten. And that's no lie.

Re: Tell me more about Andreus
So here's my two cents on all this:
If Andreus' existence/death was indeed a fraud, as angry as the situation may make us, at least there's a possibility we may get answers. And if we do, no matter how we feel about the perpetrator's explanation, at least we'll have had the opportunity to ask. We'll know.
I have questions I would like to ask my good friend Larry (SilverSurfer), who I used to talk to almost every day. Why did he suddenly go silent and not tell me what was happening?
I have questions I would like to ask Tyler Clementi (cit2mo), who I didn't know, but after a year and a half of forum silence posted in one of my threads (though no others). What was he looking for in that moment, just weeks before the fateful webcam incident occurred?
Was there something I could have done, Larry? Was there something I could have done, Tyler?
Those questions will haunt me for the rest of my life.
Because Larry and Tyler were real. And they are dead. Truly and certainly.
In a strange way, it'd be a relief to find out they were merely characters, their deaths staged.
At least it'd finally stop hurting. :(

Unless you were here when Andreus and Kahil were here, I don't know why you would be overly interested. There were so many threads and so many posts, we couldn't possible explain what all went on. Some people loved the character of Andreus, some hated him. Most fell in between, I would suspect, which means they didn't care much one way or the other.
With your flair for drama, I suspect you would have enjoyed the theather as it unfolded at the time, however.
