Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
Maureen Down, uber liberal columnist for the NYT, takes Susan Rice to task for her "performance" on the Benghazi terror attack
Maureen penned a piece this past weekend, destroying both Rices - Condi and Susan, for putting their ambitions ahead of their souls. In Dowd's opinion, Susan Rice wanted so desperately to be a player and be the next Secretary of State so she raised her hand to be the Admin. mouthpiece after the Benghazi terror attack.
And Susan Rice had a great "performance" in acting out her talking points. Except the problem is she knew they were false. And this wasn't a movie or a play - it's the NEWS.
David Petraeus testified basically what we all knew all along - that the day it happened - everyone knew what it was - an Al Qaeda attack NOT a spontaneous reaction by demonstrators to a video
Susan performed her best lie - and pushed the spontaneous demonstration thingy and in front of the camera disputed the contention of the President of Libya's Gen. Nation Congress - even though she knew he was right. Dowd says Rice should've been smarter about. And finally she tweaks Obama for saying "she had nothing to do with this" - if so, why make her the point person?? And Dowd says the damsel in distress play was lame.

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
No, she's not cooked, but the republican party pretty much is. Are we still talking about Benghazi? Petraeus basically destroyed the entire right wing argument related to that (and please look at the testimony and stop making things up). Susan didn't lie. And I still don't care what Dowd says. I just hope Rice is indeed made Secretary of State. Just to put a bit more egg in the faces of McCain and co.

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
...You're using David Petreaus' testimony as support to the Republican hatchet job that was debunked by David Petreaus' testimony. Unbelievable.
-
Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
There are only a few on the right still clinging to this nonsense approach... their numbers are dwindling but the faithful are getting louder ... mostly 'casue it stings so bad to be wrong.

No kidding. I'm not sure if Dowd's article was even examined by the OP either...
The republicans lost their credibility completely.

as usual any question of the president is a hatchet job ..... or racism ...... or hate
that's just dumb
what's even dumber is the blind defense of one smelly sitch
which this is on so many levels
so many lies
so much incompetence
so many things done wrong
and the continued bullshit
but back to topic
maureen dowd has called out susan rice for being an opportunistic political animal who desperately wanted in the inner circle
and while knowing the truth perpetuated an untruth
to get ahead
don't think she will now
but don't take my word for it
listen to maureen dowd who compared to the 85 here is a moderate ;)

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
The republicans don't have a base to stand on. The entire argument is built on quicksand. The testimony disputed everything the republicans are coming up with, Chance. The fact that the right are still trying to make this an issue shows sheer desperation. And please read Dowd's article. It's not saying what you're claiming.
What lies? What incompetence? What bullshit? All of that is coming from the GOP. Petraeus gave his testimony and it disputed the right wing bullshit.
-
Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
"lies--incompetence---and things done wrong" that was 8 years of retard Bush and Cheney---maybe you don't remember those marvelous years---an embassy in a foreign country filled with terrorists was attacked and 4 people murdered not too good but,---back then the homeland was attacked and 3 thousand plus people were murdered and the national security adviser was given a job promotion, the good old days---anyway a newly re-elected Pres will be chased down by stupidity for the next 4 years over everything and nothing just like Clinton was---and that worked real well for them---as Clinton is the most popular guy in America and in the world now and after 4 years of attacks, Obama will be the second most popular guy in AMerica and the world. Guaranteed.

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
^ might be better to read the piece
That is the basis for the thread
The minimum requirement actually
-
Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
I think the problem with Rice is that she wants to be Sec of State so badly but she lacks the forthrightness for the position. Obama will have to two-step his way around said appointment. I'd focus on the "suicide pact" first and then deal with Cabinet appointment. If Obama goes hardball with GOP on cuts and taxes, expect Rice to get shot down as a retaliation.
-
Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
I think on one hand Rice is a piece of bait. I don't think in the end Obama intends to put her up for State. But it is drawing out the foaming at the mouth republicans and then the final investigation will embarrass them... stand by for more information....

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
I don't get this obsession with Susan Rice.
-
Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
I don't get the obsession to continually blame someone else in this thread instead of talking about Rice and her testimony.
Rice is scorched.
-
Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
It was reported this morning on Washingtonn DC's all-news WTOP (CBS news feeds it) that Ms. Rice did not misspeak; she was given talking points that were scrubbed by the CIA/FBI and other high-level intelligence officials of any reference to AlQueda and terrorist involvement.
This reporter closed the report by stating that neither the State Department nor the White House were privy to the remarks and the subsequent massaging thereafter.
Thought some facts were in order here.....

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
How about "Rice is being scapegoated"?
Let's not let the truth get in the way of a good "scandal".

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
Yes ma'am; facts. Like those that were presented TODAY by the mainstream media. Facts. Truth. Wouldn't that be interesting to consider the facts.
But then, facts can get in the way of a good story, eh?

For the last time, if you're listening to me... Petraeus's testimony DOES NOT support your claims.
And there is no proof for any of your other claims.
Not everything is a Tom Clancy novel. I know some want to make this story into one... but it's not. Petraeus's testimony and new facts have already debunked those conspiracy claims.

Since reading for comprehension seems to be lacking here; allow me to quote myself from mypost #14 above: It was reported this morning on Washingtonn DC's all-news WTOP (CBS news feeds it) that Ms. Rice did not misspeak; she was given talking points that were scrubbed by the CIA/FBI and other high-level intelligence officials of any reference to AlQueda and terrorist involvement.

I heard this report on the car radio; WTOP--all news, all the time radio. It was during the 9am CBS news segment. That's the facts.
Now it's your turn; where are your links to all YOUR facts in all your posts across this fine forum versus THE actual facts?

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
^ Well Breitbarf and Limbarf said it so it must be true.....

I was about to suggest some titles for the series of anti-Rice threads that chance1 is about to subject us to.
Republicans in Steam Over Rice
Rice Boils Over GOP Criticisms
Obama to Republicans: Let Them Eat Rice Cake
Hispanics, Gays, Immigrants, and Kenyan Muslim President Threaten Rice Nomination
McCain All Over Ambassador Like White on Rice
-
Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"
Let's not forget the other mantra... Obama likes brown Rice.
But then, Bush has some brown Rice of his own.
-
Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"

Re: Maureen Dowd "Is Rice Cooked?"

Well, this only means that I need to read all of the thread before I make a post. I thought I was really clever with the steamed rice!

You are doing just fine. Some posters have a problem with coming up with reliable links to prove their remarks. They think they'r are the top shit!
Keep going on with what you are doing.
