GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
http://www.boston.com/politicalintel...YqI/story.html
Quote:
“I think that’s absolutely wrong,” Jindal said later Wednesday at a news conference in Las Vegas at a meeting of the Republican Governors Association. “We have got to stop dividing the American voters. We need to go after 100 percent of the votes, not 53 percent.“
Jindal’s reference to 53 percent was a criticism of Romney’s secretly recorded statement at a Florida fund-raiser in May that 47 percent of Americans are dependent on government assistance and do not take personal responsibility for their lives.
This is the guy that "accidentally" reffered to the ACA act as Obomney care in a press event for the Romney campaign.
He goes further.....
Quote:
“need to continue to show how our policies help every voter out there achieve the American Dream, which is to be in the middle class, which is to be able to give their children an opportunity to be able to get a great education.”
He added, “I absolutely reject that notion, that description” of Obama’s winning strategy, which Romney made in a conference call that reporters heard. “I think that’s absolutely wrong.”
This of course is in response to Romney's comments on the gifts Obama gave as the reason he lost.
Now, It also has to be noted that today he was named as the head of the GOP governor's association, so he speaks with the backing of that org.
Will Jindal be able to take the progressive lead within the GOP? Has his record in the past ruined that possibility?

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
The gifts comment was incredibly insulting to millions of Americans who work hard, pay their taxes (payroll taxes included) and supported Obama. The right wing trolls on here seek to support these comments by stating that many Obama supporters are lazy and don't work. As far as Jindal, he's one of the few in his party that has any logic. Most republicans think the same way as Romney and truly have an utter disgust for those who supported Barack Obama.

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
Mitt is a fucking douche.
If anyone should be thanking the US taxpayers for gifts...it should be him and his cabal of vulture capitalistas.
Hey Mitt.
Fuck you.
-
Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
I second that emotion.... Mittens Go Fuck yourself.... sincerely the 47%.... oh wait I am the .1% of America that serves.... cheers...
-
Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
Mitt thinks those who don't pay income taxes are lazy and anti-American lol... that includes the elderly and soldiers... he's insulting soldiers... maybe republicans should just shut their mouths. And you know what? I think soldiers deserve more than what they are getting. Like better health care after they come back from a brutal war... republicans always try to deny them (like cutting VA Funding).
Mitt and his kind can go shove it.

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
If someone actually reads the notes from the GOP Governor's convention that took place in Las Vegas recently, it's fucking hilarious. They sadly believe the lies they spew. They blamed Obama for painting Romney as a corporate raider. Um...wrong! It was Gingrich who coined the term "vulture capitalist" to describe Romney in the primaries. If they can't recognize that, well, it doesn't bode well for them in 2014 and beyond.

I have never heard of it and it sounds wonderful! Except for the rabbit. I can't eat rabbit.
My brothers raised rabbits until they got to about 50, you know how rabbits fuck, so our Dad said get rid of them.
They took each one, laid on the ground with a 2x4 across their neck and, well you can guess. Then we had a big
rabbit barbecue. I threw up for days. Even weeks later. I don't want to even try to see if I still would.

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
Didja know that rabbit is one meat you cannot continually eat? it will kill you because it is so lean....
Quote:
Rabbit starvation, also referred to as protein poisoning or mal de caribou, is a form of acute malnutrition caused by excess consumption of any lean meat (e.g., rabbit) coupled with a lack of other sources of nutrients usually in combination with other stressors, such as severe cold or dry environment. Symptoms include diarrhea, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure and heart rate, and a vague discomfort and hunger that can only be satisfied by consumption of fat or carbohydrates.
but a good rabbit is tasty.... http://www.wikihow.com/Eat-Wild-Rabbit

Poutine sounds like a guilty pleasure of sorts... there is actually a place here in LA that serves it... a Canadian themed bar... should have seen that place when the LA Kings won their championship...

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
Jindal believes a lot of the same things Romney does, the only difference being that unlike a lot of his fellow GOPer's,he's realizing that saying that outloud is NOT going to help the GOP down the road.

I have a friend up in Yellowknife. I would be shocked if any yankee here could point that out on a map.

On Great Slave Lake, right?
Not that I could find that on a map, either.... !oops!

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
Why can't republicans just admit that the public voted against them and their policies instead spewing these ridiculous excuses? More people voted for Democratic policies than Republican policies...period. But I guess reality and republican continue to be mutually exclusive.
-
Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
More power to Governor Jindal. Hopefully he has learned the lesson that caving in to the worst of the GOP today is not a strategy for long term relevance. There is no shame in the GOP being the more conservative, market and community oriented party. There is one in being in the thrall of anti intellectual populist religious right conservatives and corporatists waving the banner of the Koch Brothers and their Rovian ilk. Jindal stands in his speech strongly against both malignancies in today's GOP and I welcome him on that. We don't need a move to the progressive left in turning away from the hard right...just a balance back to the center that 40% of Americans occupy. We don't need social engineering right OR left in those who elect to serve us.
-
Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
The republican party will probably attack Governor Jindal like they did to Gov Christie. The GOP has no tolerance for those who oppose the party core. I'd expect to see some realignment in the GOP, but so far I see stubborn arrogance. They won't change. The power of money is too much... there is way too much corruption in the GOP. Jindal won't be the candidate in 2016...
And again, sausy, who are the political left in this country? I can't seem to find them. Both parties are pro-business... well one is pro-business and the other is corporatist (GOP).

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
HA, he's brown, he knows he has token or glass ceiling in his future, so doesn't have much to lose positioning himself as the outsider.
He IS the outsider, he and the other handful of brown pubs must be getting lonely.
Fools and Pubs invoke "left," (like they actually know shit about it) cause OF COURSE it hides under your bed GC waiting to jump out at you and go BOOOGA BOOGA!!!!
LOL

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
I suspect a healthy portion of the GOP will try to actually embrace the idea of getting govt out of your bedroom and out of your wallet. That would mean accepting gay marriage as reality and accepting that adult human beings are going to smoke pot so they can up revenue by licensing its sale instead of taxing you exorbitantly. If the GOP embraced those two ideas and then sought a rational solution to immigration then we would have two viable parties again....
-
Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
Fat Chance. I suspect some will try, but it will take yet another ass whippin' and probably another after that before the non fundie pubs get mad enough to grab some sac.
-
Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
It will take another election for them to get the message. As for now, they think they lost because they didn't have someone conservative enough.
-
Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
The GOP Governors are all speaking up right now and bashing down the secessionist movement. For all their complaining about big government, they are now saying that they cannot do without it.
Funny how elections bring unexpected consequences.
The GOP is trying to retrain its electorate to tone itself down. That's one hell of a barrel of monkeys the idiots opened for themselves.
Interestingly... The Dem Govs are leaving it to the president to answer the petitions in their states.

Re: GOP Gov Jindal blasts Romney for blaming defeat on Barack Obama ‘gifts’
He must be trying to make points for a nomination for Pres in 2016?

The ludicrous thing from some of our right-wingers here about immigration is the no-compromise stance that opposes even penalties in place. Sensible politicians should be able to compromise on a mix of penalties in place and increased enforcement of laws for any newcomers, including hammering Mexico for an agreement under which Mexican prison time can be a threat used against illegals -- being as their prisons are a lot more to fear. And I still think we should relocate some military bases right on the border.
Of course any of that will be "gifts" -- but it's as impossible tohave government without "gifts" as it is to have government without redistribution of income.

They're like the science fiction races who build killer machines that slay anyone who isn't "pure" enough, only to find they've created a menace that judges no one to be pure.

IMO,many of them are pisted off not at what ROmney said, but the fact he highlighted the beliefs many in the GOP have. The same thing with Todd Akin. Many conservatives agree with him, they just didn't bring it out in public.

Ironically, the most recent time I heard any of that kind of talk from a non-politician was downtown --
from a guy in line at the Salvation Army food bank.
