Ok so I switch on the tv and its idol time - now I haven't watched this thing at ALL - and my first thought is ... Omg david is making my gaydar go off. Now I have a really poorly developed fagometer but I can't be the only one who's gaydars goin off ? Thoughts gents ?
I got that feeling too from i first saw him perform; but i dont think we are allowed to discuss it, only his "singling"

he's annoying, too many ballads. he sings with his eyes closed. he's not ready for the business and i wonder if he even wants to do it or if his dad is forcing it on him.
I have to disagree. I do think he's cute and has a great voice, but I think you just might be confusing his young innocence with being gay.
Keep in mind, I don't exactly have the best gaydar around. !oops!

david is too robotic and predictable with his performances. slow build, loud chorus, he ALWAYS drops down physically when he sings the obligatory high-run. he belongs on broadway but i wouldn't expect anything new WHEN he wins and has a pop career. he'll be along the same ilk of cookie-cutter, interchangeable pop like britney spears, n'sync, etc... there are a million women with whitney houston's range who can replicate her peformances, but there's only one original, that's what david lacks, originality.

Honestly, he has talent, but he doesn't know how to use it. He doesn't have the experience, nor the training, to know how to use his voice well. In the future, he may be the next Prince of Pop, but now, unless he's holding back, I doubt it.
would you drive 10 -20 miles to see him "in concert"..

I didn't get him at first, but I must say that I am now a fan. I think that he has an awesome talent. I think he is genuine and I am interested to see what kind of record he is going to put out. I also have to agree with comments above--I see myself in him a lot--especially at that age of 17.
AMEN. the only reason he does so well is he's constantly performing songs he's already mastered. you can see a noticeable difference between the new songs, when he performs a song he hasn't yet done (which isn't often) his confidence (which is already lacking) is even less. if i cook chicken a la king everyday for 20 years i'd be a master of it, but i'd suck at cooking everything elseQuote:

i know, he's the only idol contestant to do an entire fucking season of slow songs (minus the stevie wonder song he did that he forgot the lyrics on). week after week ballad after ballad

I don't know how commercial he can be but I thought he was great. For a 17yo to be able to sing like that is amazing.
I think Archuletta's voice is excellent and he has been consistent from week to week. His song choices for tonight were pretty smart...do songs that people actually know (at least "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" and "Imagine") so the audience will remember them. He seems to have a wider appeal than David Cook. I don't think most people will remember any of what Cook sang.
He will do just fine. His performances tonight were sensational. He is developing his interpretive skills and is light years ahead of David Cook. Cook is a poser and seems to have mined all the traditional rock star trappings, and that is not a good thing!
David Archuletta is the next Dionne Warwick. Technically great vocally, but boring as hell. He outsang David Cook tonight, but if I were to buy a record from one of them it would be David Cook's record.
Archuleta was simply amazing tonight, and he'll easily win tomorrow.
I think he did a great job, he oversings sometimes. I get it, you can sing, bud. He'll win for sure. "Imagine" could've been better, oh well.
David A. can sing. But can anyone honestly say they have ever bought a "ballad" cd/album/record/mp3???
He would be fine in the right stage play.
he bores the hell out of me, not to mention i find he super annoying. I hate how he is always "shocked" when the results come. He has a nice voice but thats about it. I like Cook, but if i had my way it would be Michael Johns winning.
I think this just might have been the best 'talent' finale ever! People get so caught up in this entire thing and turn it into a popularity contest, when it really is supposed to be a talent contest.
Both Davids are exceptionally good. If we are to judge them by each night's performance, then David Archuletta won hands down tonight. He's young, and will definitely need guidance from his handlers, but I see him becoming a very good commercial artist.

I predict Archuletta will win tomorrow night............ and fall into the world of Idol winners never to be heard from again.

Seriously I love this kid. I haven't heard a 17 year old sing like that in forever. And as for the ballad haters... What? Do you want him singing fall out boy? When you're good at something- as he is with ballads-why try RISKING your chance at being THE american idol when you are amazing in your own song genre? No matter what, David Archuletta will go on do HUGE things!

I liked him in the start but David Cook won me over with Bille Jean. I was disappointed to find out someone else had created that arrangement

I didn't watch it tonight and I don't intend on watching it tomorrow night. We all know David A. is going to win American Idol. Sorry to say but I don't think this is going to be the most anticipated season finale like the Ruben/Aiken, DeGarmo/Fantasia, Underwood/Bice, and Sparks/Lewis finales from seasons' past. It's very evident that this is going to be another Justin/Kelly moment from Season 1. Except there is no girl in this competition which is the second in Idol history.
Now if they got rid of David Cook last week and kept Syesha in the competition then something would give into the finale. But I am looking forward to hearing Archuletta's album in the upcoming year, hopefully. :)

I liked Syesha and Im over American Idol. It isnt even about the singers anymore, its all about the show. Carrie Underwood was the last winner when it was about the singers. Since then its just been products placement, special guests, and all about Simon, Randy, and Paula.
I must say I did like his three performances over Cook's tonight.
However based on long term voting,I still voted Cook.Either way they are both good.
