Who give a damn how many albums Brit cranked out. An artist is measured by the quality of their work not their popularity. Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin only charted in the top 40 once but they're LEGEND among legends. And if anyone even tries to compare Brittney to either of them they need to put down the weed and join us in reality

I like Kelly and I just hope she comes out with the album asap!
I dont really care about the whole controversy bullcrap. Just listen to the music and stfu. OR don't listen to it. AND stfu.

Best damn post in the thread so far.
I'm excited for Kelly's new album. "Never Again" is good - you just have to listen to it a few times. I already have tickets for her show in Philly. Her last tour was great. The girl can sing and has a very personable/friendly personality.

kelly clarkson "sober"
First came out the Avril Lavigne a.k.a cliche "britney spears" album, and now we have to listen to Kelly Clarkson with another dud. The new song is Sober and it will be from "My New December." Since her first single flopped they have to release another single fast cause you know this album is gonna suck. "Sober" does not do Kelly Clarkson justice. I am so dissapointed in her for wanting to do her own producing and musical arr. on her new album.. You should have listened to Clive. You may be a singer and songwriter, but you are not the next Mariah Carey so stop trying to produce you own shit, cause it sucks.. Here is sober, try to ejnoy..

Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
It's a great song, but it's not single material. Oh well I'm sure she will release it it will be critically acclaimed but it wont sell as well as her other albums and she will find some black producers to work with on her next album and all will be well with the world again.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
I love this song...I love Never Again....I love Haunted....I think this is gonna be a great album...and who the fuck cares if it is as big as Breakaway?! She's doing her music the way she wants to...I"m glad she's not working with huge hit producers...cause then she'd be churning out the same junk that is out there already...if I have to hear another Timbaland produced song I"ma kill someone!

That sentence is absolutely everything that is currently wrong with the music industry.
And p.s. With the exception of Mimi....which she didnt produce....Mariah hasnt had a good album since the one with the Boyz 2 Men duet on it. So that argument needs to jump out a window and die.

Totally agree- there is too much cookie cutter trash being thrown at us. Unoriginal and easily forgettable.

Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
I TOLD YAH HER ALBUM COVER LOOKED LIKE EVANESCENCE, NOW SHE'S GOT A SONG CALLED "SOBER"...
The plot thickens.
Perhaps this has something to do with that Ben Moody thing and the whole tee-peeing of Amy Lee's fake house.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
Everyone needs to get off her ass. No, the album probably isn't going to sell as much as Breakaway. That's common sense and anyone who doesn't realize that needs to be injured. However, this is real music. It's not "hey hey you I wanna be your girlfriend" shit that's overplayed on the radio. The song's great and I love it so the OP can go lick a razor. Mariah Carey hasn't really written and produced her own music since like 1996 so that comparison was bullshit. Study your music history a little better next time pal.

Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
Avril's new Cd is quite possibly the worst CD ever produced....(Paris Hilton's notwithstanding)
Hey, though at least P!nk's been consistently good.
(I'm only making fun of Kelly because her Album cover that was posted here looks like an Evanescence cover, and she's got a song called "Sober" and after that whoel let's trash Amy's House Video with Ben Moody (Sure lives up to his name), that apparently wasn't real)
Oh and that first single, I was digging it till the refrain....

And that's fine, to be honest it does like Evanescence-like. But I think a lot of people are just writing her off because of all this Clive controversy crap.

Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
Oh, that was just stupid anyways.
Her first album wasn't that great.
Her second was pretty good.
This one is shaping up to kinda meh.
So perhaps her fourth will be better.
Maybe she's one of those "even" numbered girls.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
I love her first album, the song she did with tamyra gray should have been a video. the second album was amazing cause it was so different and this new one, to me, seems like its as good as the last. i think she sounds amazing and i cant wait to buy it!
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
I actually really liked this song. The warble is kind of annoying, but that's what you get with illegal downloads.
It's kind of hard to compare her to Mariah Carey (whom I love). I think a lot of people want Kelly Clarkson to be a pop singer and she's not. She's more on the lines of Ann Wilson, Pat Benetar and early (important: early) Bette Midler. And I think each album is getting closer and closer to showing that. I actually hated Thankful, but loved Breakaway for that reason.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
a web rip of the whole album has just leaked online....I'll give my review of the rest of the tracks once I listen!
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
Alright I LOVE the new album....IMO it's the best of the three....not everyone is gonna agree...but that's my opinion. It's definitely a different sound then the first two....but If you've seen Kelly live in the past like 2 years you can tell from the covers she was throwing into her set (Patty Griffin, Ray LaMontagne, Annie Lennox, Marc Broussard etc..) you could tell that this album wasn't gonna be the same as Breakaway. That was a fantastic pop/rock album...and on this she is getting more personal, since she produced and wrote/co-wrote all of the album. There isn't a huge pop anthem on this album like "Since U Been Gone" was...but this album will have huge hits at Hot AC stations for sure! "Sober", "Maybe", "Yeah", "Be Still" and the hidden track "Chivas"(yes it's about choosing the scotch Chivas Regal over her man..haha) are all great tracks!I will def be in line to buy this on the 26th!
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
omg that song is so fucking borring
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
I've been listening to this song all night and I don't understand what's wrong with the production. If Kelly did help create, I don't see a problem thus far.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
I love Sober. I've been listening to it a lot lately. Irvine/Chivas is still the best track on the album though.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
Chivas is definitely my fav!
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
actually enjoy the song, not as much as the last album but i still enjoy listening to Never Again myself.

WORD.
I don't/have never listened to Kelly Clarkson's music but I will give her credit for not compromising herself and creating HER art. I have respect for this even if she has to suffer for her art(losing fans, sales.) Now I hope all other cookie cutter "pop stars" will take note. More then likely not because the lot of them have no spine. Go Kelly. I may even give you a listen. Maybe..

Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
I used to love Kelly but ever since she went all faux rocker chick on me, I have not really been a fan! But I actually love 'Sober'! I think it is really really good!

What's "faux" about her?

Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
^ Yeah. I just don't get it. All the songs you performed on Idol were ballads and soul music. Your first album was lite R&B. All of a sudden you are a rocker and always have been? Sorry, I don't buy it.
And every since she's been a 'rocker' all of her vocal training has gone out the window. She barely sings anymore. She just shouts at the top of her lungs.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
It's a great song. The only good song on that cringe-worthy album. I kind of like "Haunted" too but it's too unoriginal.

oy, you. i dont get most of your comments regarding what you don't like about kelly, mostly because you're clearly a christina aguiler fan... and, let's be honest, she's hardly stuck to one genre of music. i doubt you'd go about calling her 'faux.' i certainly don't.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
Yeah i'm sorry...but she's a musician...there is no law that says an artist needs to stick to one genre....and it's not like she's strayed all that much. Everyone's saying this is such a horrible album and it most definitely is not. I've seen a lot of posts on this board praising some of the WORST music i've ever heard....and this album doesn't even come close to being as bad as that crap most of you listen to. I think everyone just needs to give the album another chance...she's doing what she wants to do...she did what the label wanted on the first two albums and now it's her turn to do what she wants....if anybody has seen her on tour the past year or two...you'd have known an album with this sound was coming....she covered Patty Griffin, Ray LaMontagne, Annie Lennox, Marc Broussard....this was coming...and it's great...i say GOOD FOR YOU KELLY!

Who said I had a problem with her doing more than one genre? Kelly is a versatile singer, as evidenced by her run on American Idol. Someone asked what's "faux" about her, and it was clear the person was referring to Kelly's music--which I can easily see why someone would not buy her whole "rocker" sound, borrowed from Amy Lee and Avril Lavigne. She's made great strides on My December, but Breakaway--though a good album--was entirely too reminiscent of other artists. I want Kelly to go back to doing different kinds of music.
-
Re: kelly clarkson "sober"
It's all about your personal taste. I love variety. But I know when someone is trying to be something they are not. Christina Aguilera has changed directions alot one her 3 albums but they all have one constant factor, a R&B flavor to all of them! Kelly went from R&B to straight 'rock'. And like that other person said, it's like she went and worked out Amy Lee-lite material!
-
Kelly Clarkson
Her new cd comes out this tuesday in the USA, June 26th. The album is awesome. "Haunted" and "Judas" are amazing songs. Dont forget to go buy it.
-
Re: Kelly Clarkson
I pre-ordered it on Itunes and I'm gonna buy three physical copies :D
-
Re: Kelly Clarkson
Wohoo. Im buying 2 on the first day and then probably more later on. Its an amazing cd, i love it. I have it burned already, couldnt resist. Kelly is freakin awesome, i really hope it does well. TO prove Clive Davis wrong.
-
Re: Kelly Clarkson
I cant wait to have it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Re: Kelly Clarkson
why buy more than one copy? there's only one edition.
-
Re: Kelly Clarkson
Love the album....but I must say Judas is my least fav song on the album.....i just dled two of the bonus tracks....can't wait to listen to them...but i'll also be buying a copy to make sure she gets a number 1 to prove Clive wrong!

Let them buy more than one copy... because I love her and want it to do well but am also cheap so people need to make up for people like me lol
-
Re: Kelly Clarkson
The album has been getting bad reviews after another here in the UK. I haven't read a good review yet.
Even fans on message boards seem non-plussed by the album from the leaks.
I have been put off buying it. Never Again isn't brilliant either :(
I loved Breakaway as well

Re: Kelly Clarkson
>>>why buy more than one copy?
The hope is if you can play the tune on the flute correctly, the people will dance. Happily, that's rarely the case.
I'm all for her "breaking away" from her current mold. But her previous stuff was at least interesting in a pleasant background sort of way. The new stuff doesn't even have that effect on me. Pass.

Re: Kelly Clarkson
I don't care what reviewers say about things. I like to think for myself. I liked Never Again. Haven't heard anything else. But I admire her for giving a damn about what her name is slapped onto.
