At one point Bomer's name was being thrown around a lot for the possibility of playing Superman in what eventually became Superman Returns. Around the same time, rumors of him being gay also surfaced. Suddenly all the talk about him being in Superman just disappeared.
I always wondered if he was a serious contender, and if those rumors might have cost him the job.

I read that also but he was a different directors 1st pick. Bryan Singer is gay so I doubt it had anything to do with him being gay. Brandon really was the better choice. He just has that Chris Reeve vibe that Singer wanted.Quote:

I watched Tru Calling (which I loved by the way....amazing show) and was totally attracted to Matt. He is incredibly hot. If you guys want to see a really cool show you should rent Tru Calling. Just finished watching the whole first season from Netflix. The show is awesome and Matt is in a good number of the episodes......unfortunately, never shirtless. I love this guy too! I first saw him on Chuck as Bryce Larkin and fell in love with him. He has such beautiful eyes a la Matt Dallas. I couldn't tell he was gay though in Chuck and when I watched the first episode of White Collar. It's nice to know an actor can be openly gay, if he really is, and still get a lead role in a series. I look forward to seeing him regularly in White Collar.
Does anyone else think it intersting that for an "openly gay" celebrity all we have is a photo of him kissing a guy (just like Dominic Monaghan and Elijah Wood) and the word of a gossip columnist?

Like many gay actors Mr. Bomer may have been out in his personal life but not in public. He wouldn't be the first person in the entertainment industry to live in the glass closet.

I totally agree. I was highly pissed when they cancelled. I enjoyed that show probably as much as any show I've ever watched. Found it on Netflix this year and rewatched the whole first season. Am now watching the final 2 episodes of Season 2. Really don't understand why the show didn't perform better. I really really liked it. Recently, I had 2 friends over and they had never seen it. I showed them the first 3 episodes and they both loved it and are currently renting the discs to watch the series.Quote:

He's a good actor, and I like White Collar. Good show. I couldn't care less about his sexual orientation or personal life. If he is gay, it doesn't make me feel validated or any more closer to him personally.
Its interesting that he is gay, its even more interesting that with a few extra pounds and in a speedo I would turn my nose up at him. I have to admit that when I saw him in White Collar my gaydar did not go off, perhaps because he's a horndog in the show. But in these pics of him off the show he looks totally like a queen. As for Perez Hilton and his outings, I am not in favor of it unless the person is out there condemning gays or gay marriage. But its also important to be consistent. You can't condemn Hilton and also push for the end of Don't Ask Don't Tell like that closeted hypocrit Anderson Cooper. DADT is ultimately about being "out" at work so its completely inconsistent to argue that soldiers should be out but newscasters and actors and whomever else should be closeted. This particular actor is not out there like Anderson Cooper using his position to push a personal agenda so he (Matt) should be free to be closeted or not as he chooses.
