I'm back from my 560 mile bike ride, Photos and details ...
Hey everyone, I just got back from my 7 day, 560 mile bike ride across New York State. They said it would be hilly, but damn, those felt more like Moutains to me. Anyever, thank you to everyone who donated to me, All together the other riders and me raised over $300,000 during the 7 day event. And I'm all ready signed up to do it again next year, yes, I must be crazy. Next years ride will be expanded to benifit US-wide non-profit AIDS vaccine research programs. Since so many people from out of state have been donating it's only fair that everyone benifits.
So, how did my ride go, lets see here, snoring in stereo, lots of blisters, bad sun burn, a stand off with an old lady and a cow, a 3 mile long 12% grade hill, 650 more endless hills, and more cats than I ever seen in one room before in my life. For a full day to day run down of everything that happened to me with pictures, please visit http://www.aidsridenewyork.org
Again, thank you to everyone who showed me support and to those who donated. JUB members accounted for about 35% of the money I raised, I could not have done it without you...

Re: I'm back from my 560 mile bike ride, Photos and details ...
It certainly looks like you had yourself 7 days of HELL; but the whole Ride shows exactly what you are made of.....love for your fellow human-beings and their freedom from fear of contacting HIV/AIDS.
I could NOT help but think of you riding out there.....alone, tired, drained from all your thought processes; but keeping it all together to make it!!!
I for one have seen so many of my friends die from this dreaded disease and I hope to live to see the demise of HIV/AIDS and all it's thoughts as the Gay man's disease!!
Sure, the money will help research to find a cure; but I think also we all MUST see the human interest story you created along with ALL the other bike-riders, complete strangers, together, doing it for one BIG cause....I get a big-ole-lump in my throat just thinking of the espirit de corp of ALL of you as you made it day-to-day till the end ALL around New York State!!
Thank you so very much for the effort you gave to show what just ONE person can do....just think what ALL of us could do together to fight this fucked up disease......AIDS!(*8*) (*8*)
Re: I'm back from my 560 mile bike ride, Photos and details ...
Thanks, it would be great if more people got involed, the reason most don't is they don't think they could do it or they don't have time. But If I can do it, anyone can do it. I encourage anyone out there reading this who ejoys riding bikes to do it. If you can't ride it on a bike, you can always volenteer as a roadie. They stand by the side of the road and cheer us up the hills and hand out food and water. You can join me on the Empire State AIDS ride or choose another ride closer to home. Below is a list of the rides in the US just in case anyone here would like to know. There may be others, but these are the ones Ihappen to know of.
