Are there any official JUB meetings to occur in the south, preferably in or very near Charlotte, NC??? If not, does anyone know how I would go about calling one? I am surrounded by rednecks and being alone is getting really old. Even if there are no JUB meetings near here, I would love to hear from someone in my surrounding area.
How can Charlotte be a redneck city? It is the second financial centre in the United States, and the arts are alive and well there... I lived there for a short period of time and liked it very much. I found it very cosmopolitan--lots of Europeans there, especially Germans and Swiss.
I use Charlotte because it is one of the better know cities. If I said Stanley, NC, then no one would know where I am talking about. I am from Davie County and now live in Gaston County. I haven't been to Charlotte but a couple of times, afterall, I am a country boy myself and don't get around city folk much :-P. I know there are guys in Charlotte, but I haven't the first clue as to where and how to meet them. That is why I have opened this thread to try to find people around this area. Also, since I don't know much about the JUB meetings, I thought I would ask you guys. But, I do thank you for the comment. It lets me know that Charlotte has more to offer than I thought.Quote:

West Tennessee here - and I travel the Southeast alot (AL, GA, SC, FL).
Unfortunately, there do seem to be a lot of Europeans and Northerners here. Go back home.
Heh, I have a friend who used to live in Stanley, but now lives in Gastonia. I go to school in Charlotte, but travel there from Kings Mountain.
I was born in Charlotte, and was reared in Mount Holly. However, I now live in Raleigh and go to State. As for Davie County, my dad's from W-S, so really close to all of those places. Kinda coincidental I suppose.
And as for Charlotte being cosmopolitan, I agree with crlcxll, there are a ton of Europeans that live in CLT. Also, if you're wanting really good authentic German food (my family's German and French) or perhaps Belgian food, I recommend The Rheinland Haus on Park and Patu. I haven't got a clue where Patu is, I went there once or twice with my parents but it's an extremely intimate environment... I felt like I was on a date with them rather than out to dinner.
Anyhow... now that I've thorougly rambled about my family, past experiences, and where I'm from for my first post ever, I'll stop being completely inane.

Hey Roane I agree with you on the Bible Belt thing. I'm in Alcoa,TN. And yes if a JUB meeting were held here it would be great. The Knoxville area has a lot of closet cases and it is really a pain in the ass!!! Maybe a JUB supporter willcheckthis thread out and offer some support. I'm down with that if you need some support!!! Every now and then I venture to Atlanta but that's about it.

Well I am near High Point, but I live with my dad currently and I am not out to him(he'd shit himself). I was in Raleigh for 2.5 years though. Where were you guys when I was there???? Bible belt really does suck.

Its about 20 miles east of New Bern, way out on the coast of NC. Im 2 and a half hours from Raleigh, and about 6 hours from Charlotte.
People in bigger cities think living in the bible belt is bad...out here, you can drive to the middle of desolation and STILL find a baptist church.

Sure is! hehe, thats pretty cool, not many people have been out this way. mmm, i LOVE cherry point...whats not to love about a few thousand hot marines? other than the fact that a lot of them are straight and can kill you easily....
They are quite a sight to see. I once did some work w/ the Navy in Norfolk VA. I had to take a couple of trips down to Cherry Point and Camp Lejeune. I enjoyed it quite a bit (especially since I got to stay in the BEQ!)

Wow, you live in Gaston County and you've only been to Charlotte a couple of times? It's only a few minutes down the road. (Of course, this thread is so old the OP might not even be active anymore).
I'd totally be down for something in NC (but I know that won't happen). Though I'd prefer Raleigh to Charlotte, even if it is a longer drive from Asheville. :p
I know this thread is a couple months old, but I didn't see any other Charlotte/NC related meet-ups.
