Rand: Glad you liked it - I kind of knew that you would. I also knew that you would get "it".

Hello Rand: we meet here again! Hope you're feeling recharged from the weekend. I think I'll follow your step by taking days off regularly from JUB here and there - other than going away on trips. You're right - keep these threads going can feel like a chore sometimes. Have a good week!

Yup - saw that green light next to your account name also . I AM on the West Coast - you might have found a clue to that in the telephone area code in my profile. You have yours in your profile also, so I know you're probably 2 hours ahead of me. Hopefully you're decompressing and getting ready for bed as I write this. I actually have a fairly early work schedule so I also come home from work about an hour or two earlier than most people. Long story why I chose this way. Enjoy the rest of your work-week.

Rand: you post so prolifically it is no wonder that you feel as though on the brink of reaching the "end". Compared to yours what I posted the day before wasn't all that special. You're right about the social aspect of JUB - I have witness that first hand, something that I really doubt could be replicated in other platforms, e.g. Twitter, Tumblr, etc.

Rand: Could it be a "Friday" thing, that posters who would normally post at such a time - late afternoon to early evening - were out enjoying their Friday nights? Or could it be the ebb and flow of posters popping in and out, as we had discussed earlier... My trip turned out better than expected - but the scheduling part was a challenge and my return trip was not fun at all and I came back with a bad cold. But I'm feeling better now. When I have more free time, I'll probably send you a private message about this trip. Best.

I have no doubts that site-administrators can run queries to get exact numbers - decrease or not. I do feel that people who come here vary from one part of the Forum to the next. I come to this mostly pic-posting section from having spent quite a bit of time in Fun and Games, where the type of message-threads - games, literally - seem to invite a very different way of interacting among members who go there.

Is this a spur of the moment observation of late, or perhaps a trend that you've noticed over time? I ask because it's been posted before by other Forum members and an issue that I've thought about from time to time, i.e. is this a normal fluctuation of the ebb and flow of things, or have the internet message boards truly been nudged over by social media platform? I truly don't have the answer, but may send you a private message when I have the time to write about it. Cheers.

Victories of doubt

by Rand on January 30th, 2011 at 05:54 PM
"Better defeat, almost,
than all of life's victories of doubt,
that need endless talk, talk, talk,
to make them out."

How in the world did I do that? How did I luck into that? Why does he love me? Why does he want to be with me?

Is it lack of self-esteem or are we so hard upon ourselves that we question our achievements. Is it we do not have arrogance or confidence that we deserve to win, to love, to have.

there have been times in my life when I wanted to run away. run away from the situation, run away from a particular person, run away from the life that I had created.

there were times when everything seemed to have conspired against me. or that through my ineptitude I created a shambles of all that was good and right in my life. I had to get away, to start anew, to begin again. it never worked. if third grade was bad, fourth was no better and fifth was hell.

Love and Lust

by Rand on April 6th, 2007 at 06:17 PM
I think we USAers are rather imprecise when we speak. I do not know if it is due to a lack of emphasis in literature in our schools or a general laziness that propels us to use whatever works, rather than what would work best.

So many people here use the word love when they mean lust. These people do not love a person, they lust after that person. They really want to get physical with that person, not get to know them, encourage and support them, take pride in them. They rather just

How could I not think of courage given the thread by Andreus and the post by ahotjock71. I am not sure that I would always admire courage, but I do admire and love these two men.

Courage, to me, is having one value or emotion within you overcome the fear that is within you. And fear is a survival trait, for many fear is a good thing; we need to have fear and feel fear in order to survive. It is a trait manifested in most animals. Those animals that failed to fear the lion or
