    Well, that settles everything. We have different applied definition of cooking here

    I can cook up to quite complicated things to sustain my life, that's for sure. Here I cook every day, often 3x a day (although when lazy, I would just cook a big batch to last the whole day). That being said, I rarely get my hands on complicated ones (like meat roulade, anything involving whole chicken or a large chunk of meat, or cake), especially the cuisine of my homeland, which often involved multi-step cooking/braising over >4 hours. Don't have the time (yet) and too cumbersome for a meal for one. Hopefully I have someone to cook for to motivate me to cook those things

    And stir-fry is not the same as making fries/deep frying. It's more like sauteeing. Like sweet sour pork, black pepper chicken, or teriyaki - those are all stir-fries. Even sauteed veggies can be considered a part of stir-fries.

    At least you can prepare something simple, like simple veggie sautee or stir fry. When you say you're hopeless at cooking, it conjures up the image of, I don't know, not being able to do ANYTHING in the kitchen Like a friend of mine when we were in the rural areas for our end-of-study internship practice year. She said she didn't know how to cook and she really meant it: she didn't know how to fry/boil eggs, the simplest of all. She didn't even know frying requires oil. She could only boil water. She did show the eagerness to learn and short 2 months she could manage simple dishes. At least you're not that bad, no?

    Ah, I can never forget the looks of my other friends/colleagues when she put the pan on the stove and cracked the egg onto it without oiling the pan first.

    Really? Wow I had no idea. I mean, scattered in your posts are references to food and everything. Obviously that doesn't mean you must be cooking all those but based on my presumed image of you, I just assume you (or your husband) did make some of them
